The Real Cost Of Owning A Bombardier Global 7500

The Real Cost Of Owning A Bombardier Global 7500
0:00 - Intro
This is the Bombardier Global 7500, a huge aircraft with four living spaces, a dedicated crew rest area, and an advanced air management system that delivers 100% fresh air. Today we’re going to tell you everything you need to know about the real cost of owning the Bombardier Global 7500.
0:31 - Purchase and Charter Price
The base purchase price for a new Bombardier Global 7500 is $73 million before options. If purchasing the aircraft is out of budget, the charter price ranges between $4,000 and $5,000 per hour. Naturally, prices will vary depending on availability, fuel prices, ground fees, and more.
0:51 - Operating Costs
When it comes to operating the Bombardier Global 7500, like for any aircraft, there are two expense categories to consider: fixed costs and variable costs.
1:01 - Fixed Costs
Fixed costs are those that you pay no matter what. Whether the aircraft flies or not has no effect on fixed costs. These costs do not change in relation to the number of hours the aircraft flies. There are five criteria that have been identified as the biggest contributors to the annual fixed cost of operation.
1:21 - Crew Salary
In terms of fixed costs, the crew salary is a significant one. Whether the aircraft is flying or not, the crew will need to be paid their salaries. This is a cost that will vary depending on region and aircraft type.
1:53 - Crew Training
This is a cost that will keep on occurring every year, whether your aircraft flies or not. Having well-trained crew members is important. Again, they are integral to the safe and efficient operation of your aircraft.
2:16 - Hangar
The third is Hangar. When it comes to aircraft storage there are two options - hangar or tie down. In most cases, owners are not going to let their planes sit out in the wind and rain.
Therefore, it is a safe assumption that most private aircraft will be stored in hangars when not in use.
2:44 - Insurance
In simple terms, there are two types of insurance that private planes must have.
The first is liability insurance. This provides cover against loss, damage, or injury to third parties, such as passengers, cargo, and baggage. The second is Hull Insurance. Hull insurance policies are agreed on the value of the aircraft. Therefore, in the event of a total loss, insurers will pay the agreed value as opposed to the current market value.
4:04 - Management
The fifth and final one is Management.
An aircraft management team provides all the necessary services required to fly the aircraft. For example, sourcing and managing pilots to make sure the aircraft is airworthy, are all tasks provided by your aircraft management company.
4:45 - Total Fixed Cost
4:56 - Variable Costs
Variable costs, on the other hand, are directly proportional to the number of hours the aircraft flies per year: the more you fly the aircraft, the more it will cost you. Because of this, the estimated variable cost is presented as an hourly figure, which is how much extra the aircraft will cost you per flight hour. There are four factors that we have built into the hourly variable cost figure.
5:22 - Fuel
Fuel costs are a significant hourly expense when operating a private plane. Of course, the amount of fuel that the aircraft burns per hour will vary greatly depending on its average hourly consumption. Of course, depending on location, fuel prices vary dramatically.
5:56 - Maintenance
The second is Maintenance.
In order to ensure that aircraft are safe to fly they require maintenance at regular intervals. These intervals are scheduled and dependent on the manufacturer's guidelines. Maintenance is scheduled based on the number of hours flown.
6:49 - Engine Overhaul
The third is Engine Overhaul.
An engine overhaul is a more serious scheduled event that is essentially the maintenance and inspection of the engine. Again, much like maintenance of the airframe, the more an engine is used, the more wear and tear it will experience. Therefore, the more hours flown the more often an engine overhaul will need to be performed.
7:18 - Crew, Landing, and Handling Fees
The fourth and final one is Fees for Crew, Landing, and Handling.
Crew fees are those that you need to pay the crew during an extended stay. Secondly, when landing at an airport, aircraft are charged a landing fee, which is usually based on the weight of the aircraft. And finally, handling fees go hand in hand with landing fees.
8:26 - Total Variable Cost
8:37 - Outro

Depreciation is your biggest cost factor! You can lose 50% value in just 10 years! Many companies keep there aircraft only five years as do some share companies. This keeps your aircraft in warranty and your paint and interior will still be relatively fresh making resale easier and more profitable! Don’t paint it in a goofy scheme! Don’t order a weird custom interior as replacing it can cost 5 million! Interior configuration is a huge resale factor!

I guess it was a terminology thing with the over haul of a engine. I think they mean over haul on a jet engine is maintenance and up keep. When I hear over haul on a car engine. It means to completely rebuild it so that why it sounds so cheap on here.

Some FBO's don't offer sufficient security. Depending on destination, we had to contract with external security companies to have insurance cover us. It's becoming more necessary and expensive every year. ^v^

  • @benmiller5015

    @benmiller5015

    7 ай бұрын

Yup. Significantly cheaper. But then you're also limited by the other bookings so it could be a long wait-list to rent. N I'm sure it also depends on where the plane is at. For example of I wanted to rent a 7500 from grand rapids Michigan to wherever (I use that as an example since I live in Michigan) they aren't gonna want to deadhead the plane from it's primary hangar location or if the previous flight had it landing in Europe or something. So you'd either have to pick up that deadhead cost on top of your cost to where you want to go or wait until it's schedule brings it closer. Or fly commercially or on a different private plane to where the 7500 is at. Where if you own it, the hourly cost in the air will be a bit more but you'll still pay more cuz you don't get to just pay for a single hour but ALL the hours but it'll be on hand when you decide you want to have breakfast in Paris n dinner in Italy n be back home all in the same day lol

I guess the same reason 'westerners' have 'so much money' compared to say, people in developing nations. I think it's all relative. Even taking an Uber in the USA would burn like 20% of the annual salary of some peoples in poorer countries.
