Hey everyone! I don't know where all of these views and comments are coming from all of a sudden, seeing that this video is almost seven years old now, but it's awesome and hit me with a ton of nostalgia - these were the good old DayZ days! Sorry to everyone who doesn't like the song in the background. As I have never been a battlefield player, I didn't know the song and just chose a dramatic royalty free song back then. @@KenjiZet Hmm there are some differences in landscape and nature between Livonia and Chernarus (and Czechia). In Livonia you have this characteristic for northern Poland checkerboard pattern with rectangles of fields and forests on wide flat terrain crossed by rivers in some places. Czech landscape is mostly considered to be hilly and poor in rivers. Also there is difference between trees since huge forests in Livonia are mostly made up of conifers and probably were supposed to reseble Białowieża Forest while czech forests are often deciduous. In DayZ Livonia also has bears (rather absent in Czechia) polish names of towns and gas stations stylized on polish Orlen company. Also according to Armed Assault wiki Livonia in Arma 3 Contact was supposed to be part of polish-speaking country Nadbór located in northeastern Poland. Its terrain comes from czech region of Kroměříž although it was choosen to resemble Poland.

@@f1.852 yeh bro have you checked out the altis & stratis maps? 2 separate greek islands put together in arma 3. altis' real name is lemnos & every road, tree, bush, building, the lot is down to an absolute T. stratis' real island is just south of lemnos, cant remember real name but they're both pretty much perfect depictions of real islands. i think most, if not all of bohemia maps are influenced by real places, with some pretty clearly being complete rebuilds of them. it isn't lazy in any way, it is extremely dedicated & skilful work, that all comes from a super small team (or was super small anyway). i take my hat off to them, cause they prove time after time that they can and will do what other dev's moan about & try to avoid doing.

I've watched other videos like that on youtube, but I've never found it as detailed as this, really well done video! I'm playing DayZ these days after so long that I didn't touch it, and I'm glad I'm back on this great game (despite its bugs and lag)

Played and LOVED this game throughout all its different iterations. Flat out, if there was a well-put together tour in the region to see the sights, I would pay to go on it. That'd be fantastic!

the first old warehouse you shown is where I built a base and to see it as a real place is just incredible and I recognized a lot of those places

As I visited myself, you missed out the hunting camp shacks! They were similar in size too north from usti nad labem. I also found the apartement blocks! Great video, saw some places too!

Nice video. But you got the Green Mountain wrong. The real life GM antenna is located like 10km south from Prague and is called "Cukrák" ;)

I went Erasmus to Usti nad labem. I was always amazed how landscape was same as in DAYZ

I don't see why they don't make the map more enclosed like it is irl. In the game, it's just a few houses scattered around the area in an open field. No walls, gates, back alleys or anything.

what you can realise trough those photos is that the saturation and colors are set more in a greyish matter its darker than even irl so you feel more lonely and isolatet elsewhyse it would feel like:" no person around z " so its normal but its a great comparison ! the dev's practically said that the breackout of the "virus" happend 2-3 weeks before the game starts and now i realise that the zombies where never the scary part . they where just dangerous for your loot. the scary part is being in scilence with the wind and the cracking wood hearing a aleged bear roar looking at the dark grass and trees ...

Its great to live in Vysotovo. I can see Balota airfield from my balcony lol

also imagine how much extra tourism the game creates in real life lol

They did. Bohemia Interactive created a low-poly 3D scan of the topography of this region in the Czech Republic, and used it as a basis to model Chernarus from. They of course took photographs of in-world locations and did their best to recreate most of them.

Guessing the military parts don't exsist they just added them in?

More than likely, as resistance to the outbreak/ not having convenient access to the ones that actually exist. There wouldn't be random military outposts on roads irl unless there were a legitimate reason for it.

Green mountain wasn't really where it is in game. We photographed another mast/radio tower in the area that looked like it. In one of the shots from Zelenogorsk, you can see that the mast isn't actually there. Someone commented that it's actually near Prague where the Bohemia Interactive studio is. I don't think the hill has a name IRL, but if you have Google Earth or Maps you can look it up yourself. Zelenogorsk is Chuderov near Usti nad Labem, you can go from there
