My dad was sent to an orphanage in the 30's. He never said he was mistreated. But he was placed there in the middle of the night, so he didn't know he was going. He just woke up in a sea of beds. His mom kept his sister. The saddest part to me was in the yard he could see his aunts house and stood there all day by the fence waiting to come and get him😢 His grandma finally came and got him once she found out he was there. He turned out to be a wonderfully man and father. He passed last year.

Same with my dad in about the same time frame. His father left the family and his mother couldn't support them. It was much more common back in the day before we had social safety nets in place (so to speak). Luckily, my dad remembers that time fondly and his mother was eventually able to come and get him and his siblings when she remarried.

They haven’t changed that much. They transport kids during the night so they’re too sleepy to express discontentment about what’s going on. Case managers and whatnot don’t want to deal with the emotional portions of the ordeal, they just want to be paid… so they leave it for the foster parents or orphanages (the call them “group homes” now) to deal with.

I hope Bailey knows that even if she doesn’t sing the theme song her viewers sing it for her

@Kay There is an ENDLESS amount of info on orphanages from the early 20th century & before. Especially as there have been many law suits brought against orphanages. The worst were for Native American children being taken from their family & customary life & thrown into these huge boarding houses for “education” - really assimilation. There was a lot of abuse, many “missing” kids, found sometimes within the mass graves unmarked of Native children on the property of the house. If you can read you can find so much about all of this.

I spent 10 years in foster care in the 80s and late 90s. We were literal slaves.

My mom was put in an orphanage when she was about 7 with two of her sisters. She always said it was the best time of her childhood, because it was clean and they had food to eat. Her mother was incredibly abusive. My mother spent her whole adult life working as a daycare provider, she loved children and said it was because of her time at the orphanage. She was a beautiful person, when she passed away last year, so many of her “kids” came to her funeral and it really hit me, how many lives she touched. ❤

All cases are very sad, but it’s so different when it’s about children. You have to be a different kind of evil, messed up person to do these things to poor babies. I can’t fathom how someone can hear and see the cries of these children and continue on with their vile acts. My heart shattered hearing Billy’s story. Poor baby, I wish someone found him and he had a different outcome.

The way when you were reading his letter to Grace’s parents I was so frightened- this is so awful, those poor children

Yeah same thing happened when Charles Dickens' wife divorced him. She was forced to leave the kids with him because that was the law of the time. Mothers had no rights.

He definitely felt regret. After Grace's death, whenever they would say "Grace" at a table, Albert would start sobbing and screaming at his children. Obviously that makes it worse because he knew what he had done was wrong, but he was not pure evil. Nobody is. Albert as a child, was not pure evil. The environment around him was.

I knew this story so I knew what you were getting into. I never comment but wanted to let you know that I also laugh when I'm uncomfortable. I have 2 young children and the lesson to be learned is never trust anyone no matter how nice they seem. Evil is everywhere even when we least expect it. Thanks for telling the hard stories too. I wish I never clicked on this video... Normally these are not a problem for me. But the little 4 year old Billy torture really really tore me appart... Im going to cry for days and probably for years everytime i think about the torture he went trough.

This story really messed me up, I have a son and I couldn’t imagine my baby being hurt like this at 4 years old. 😢 It’s true that the real monsters out there are humans.

Throughout my years of consuming true crime, Albert Fish is the one story I just can’t stomach. Nothing even comes close to how horrible this guy was. Absolutely devastating.

This might interest a niche group of people, but there is a Vocaloid song called 'Secrets of Wysteria' based on Albert Fish and Gracie. It gets even more interesting when you play the song in reverse, where the distorted audio at the end is actually an extract from his letter to her parents (specifically the part where he described her death and what he did to her).

Oh man....stories like this hit so different before and after becoming a parent. I heard this story presented on a different podcast before I got pregnant and I remember thinking it was a super messed up story, but listening to it again with a 1 year old son has me completely emotionally destroyed for days. The one bright side is that I now have a much shorter answer for why I don't trust baby sitters, daycares, or even public school with my child's safety. Albert Fish the real life boogeyman is why I trust nothing and no one with my child until he's big enough to fight for himself. Do your own research if you want to know more, I recommend starting with Bailey Sarian's KZread episode on the subject. Maximum information with minimum horror and I appreciate the periodic warnings and apologies. "This is gonna be rough, I"m so sorry you guys." Thank you Bailey. If YOU, of all people, is saying it's rough, then I better go get my blankie and my teddy bear before I listen to any more of this.

This is just so horrific. So many children that have suffered the most unimaginable things! One day my husband & I hope to adopt & love a child who suffered trauma like this. They are worthy & don’t deserve the horrible things they’ve endured in life.

Speaking from experience, all they need is ONE caring person to help guide and show them the way. If you and your husband can help them, it will be hard but very rewarding in the long run. Don’t give up, give them plenty of love and that’ll go a long way. Such a selfless thing to do 💕

@@DonnaMathers you forget that this is a platform. people need these so they can know whether or not if they want to be exposed to it. grow up. the world doesn't revolve around you. I appreciate trigger warnings. but to the r@pe word that's more to do with shareholders. But the word itself can be triggering to victims of it. Imagine if we had more empathy for people instead of thinking life is so hard. like our world used to be far more censored. we say a lot of words today in casual conversation that would have caused us to lose our jobs and social standing like 20 to 30 years ago. And it gets worse going back farther than that. so miss me with the censorship getting out of hand when there is far less censorship today. And today it's more about protecting people's peace over some fake pearl clutching morality. foh

I’ve heard a lot of horrible stories but this one truly topped them all. It’s so sad.

I learned about Albert Fish like 10 years ago and it was only the second time i ever felt physically ill from researching cases like this. What he did to Billy and Grace, ugh poor babies. The other case was that of Junko Furuta!

Real sick, indeed, I wonder how such people can live with themselves knowing that they've done such heinous things to innocent people. Like these low lives deserve absolutely nothing, it's sad that so many of them get away with it. I kind of hesitate to indulge in such content because I question what I'm feeding my mind, I quite literally feel sick and demented, but Bailey's story telling is just that great, just keeping us all informed about these sickos. Love her channel.

Poor Billy... having a son myself now all the kids in these stories really get to me. How scared he must've felt staying there all night, crying and screaming for his mama 😢

The story about Grace really hit me hard, personally. I have IRIDA (i.e. chronic anemia), and I know what it's like to be an exhausted little girl too tired to keep up with the other kids. She thought she made a friend in an old man... only to be betrayed the worst way possible. Poor thing.

@@melissamoonchild9216 No, I appreciate the willingness to help! Unfortunately, IRIDA means that I do not absorb any iron through the stomach--which means I cannot get iron through food or iron supplements. The only way I can get iron is intravenously, directly into my bloodstream.

My son found help with iron patches during vivid when it was harder to get in for IV iron. Patch aid makes them& it helps me too since I have gastric failure. I put them on my inner arm

When Bailey read the letter about the child's death I was like - I've heard this before, didn't she cover this case already ? Long story short Bailey just unlocked a memory of small me listening to a song inspired by this case that I had completely forgotten.

I actually did a report on Albert Fish in middle school. It was like a whole packet of research. This man was super sick. I picked the worst one to do that report on. It surprises me when I realize many have not even heard of him.

It's not a proper Monday unless we have our weekly dose of bailey ! Our true crime queeeeen🖤

Let’s acknowledge that even though Bailey said she lost sleep over this one and it clearly disturbed her a lot and made her uncomfortable, she still managed to tell the story for people who wanted to know about it. And she managed to tell it with her lovely personality always there in the background. I can’t imagine having to research this one and recount it, but Bailey did it and being as relatable as she is, told us during the story it was uncomfortable to talk about. Huge respect for the wide variety of cases covered and how you’re able to tell any kind of story, Bailey (and in the less intense stories, for also getting huge amounts of your awesome personality in there). We see you, girl! ❤

When you're younger, your parents joke about witches and hags coming to eat you. What you don't know, is that some of those monsters are real. Even without magic, they somehow end up much more terrifying than could ever imagine.
