Didn't see it mentioned, but a super interesting fun fact is that the same VA for Katarin voices Lae'zel in BG3! You can kinda hear it more once you know this, but she clearly dug into her Bulgarian ancestry for Katarin lol

Dawn of Grand Cathay is easily the best trailer CA has ever done. The voice actress definitely knew her assignment, the Old Ones shade, the way that Cathayan society is portrayed so thoroughly. Did I mention the voice actress knew her assignment?

At this point the Zhao Gelt ship is sailing full speed ahead. I wonder if the Cathayan emphasis on harmony could also be interpreted in a way that permits such intercultural mingling. Even if none of this is canon, the idea of the dragons romancing their way to harmony is hilarious and rather appealing in some aspects.

I'm not sure that I can agree with the statement that agriculture in Warhammer can't happen in the same way it did in the real world because of some horrors. First - the size of the countries in Warhammer doesn't matter. At all. There have been similar sized or even bigger sized empires throughout history, and all of them did farming and all of them traded - from the Roman and persian Empires in antiquity to the Mongols, the Holy Roman Empire, China, the Mughal Empire and many, many more. Secondly - have a look at Europe. The continent was drenched in blood for 2000 years (which easily compares to the horrors of Warhammer - 2/3 of the population of the Holy Roman Empire was wiped out during the 30 years war for example) and still - life found a way and people did farming.

So this was a nice video and it is interesting to hear the behind the scenes talk to someone who is not as attached to the game as Sotek is. Regarding some of the things said I do think that while CA could have created a nice N'Kari using the design philosophy of modern Keepers it wouldn't feel like N'Kari but someone using his name. I do hope that when CA does Slaanesh they use the Cult of Pleasure Storm army list because I like when other races are used instead of humans as the main followers of a god. Regarding the Cathay trailer regardless of the actual relationship between the women I think the trailer shows how the dragons don't care about those relationships and just see humans as pieces on the board. Talking discussions over trailers I am surprised Sotek did not mention that for a while we were expecting cultist regiments for Tzeentch due to how his trailers were shot. Regarding Daniel I do like the concept as we don't really have a LL which is designed around telling your own story before him and it is nice to see even if his campaign needs work. I sometimes get the feeling due to their trailer as well as their campaign and also the stuff that has happened in this dlc and Epidemius that someone at CA has beef with the HE. Regarding the comment of possible Araloth mechanics some sort of companion system be it Wulfharts or a chieftain mechanic would fit with him as well as some sort of quest system as you perform Lileath's will. Finally regarding Khorne I do think AoS has done a good job at showing multiple aspects of Khorne be it prayer, beastmastery, and engineering. Heck in the Eight Lamentations novel he basically is depicted as the rival forge god to Grungni and even in 40k we see Khorne warbands that are mechanised and like using tanks as their focus and there are a lot of Khornate daemon engines running around.

I wonder if the trailers have to be the same rating as the game, cause I feel like the valkia scene looks like the "big deal" with her being beat down and rebounding would make sense when bloodied (for the blood god).

The Cathay trailer was so good. I am not a Warhammer superfan. I had some involvement when I was young but it was too expensive for me. When TW Warhammer was first announced, I was excited. In WH1, I wasn't super enthused. I was a High Elf player way back. Obviously, as a result, I was very pleased with WH2. Teclis is a model I have had since I was about 12. I love him. I have come to love the Lizards since. WH3 ... I had no idea what to expect or what might be fun. I liked the idea of Kislev. I liked some of the Chaos of factions. But then ... this! Miao Ying is amazing! And the idea of Cathay is so well-realised in this trailer. They really thought about what a society ruled by a single family of immortal dragons might looks like. Have been having quite a big of fun with the Jade Dragon recently though.

A note on cannon, its a strangth and weekness of all three of the warhammer setting. It works because it's primarily lore for a wargame. It being a sandbox that you can build your own stories in is what it is great for. The downside is that telling stories that are at a large scale is hard unless you plan for that from the beginning. There is a reason why the plot of AoS feels like it's moving forward, while 40k, no matter what happens, feels like it's going no where.

I think something that gets missed is (and i'm not saying that Thorgrim isnt biased against them ) less about bias and more Teclis litterally saying "with Asur guidance" which kinda sounds like "you will all do what we say and we wont actaully be fighting with you". This poor choice of wording mixed with Dwarf's natural distrust especially of elves I think is actually pretty reasonabe from their point of view and I think given Teclis is expecting to work with them he really could have put more effort into not having it worded in a way that sounds so scheming in litterally the first sentence he says... just sayin

I hope Nippon will not be human but instead something based on Kami and/or Yokai. And sense in the mythology some of this are either human like or can take a human form, they can pretend to be human when interacting with people from outside, so most of the original lore kan be kept.
