What's next after this? I'm hoping for another rom-com, in which case shows like Komi Can't Communicate or The Dangers in My Heart would be what I'd like to see.

Betty and subaru have a platonic relationship. Like Emilia and Puck, it's a relationship between a spirit and their contractor. Except emilia's and Pucks' relationship is like father and daughter, while Subaru and Beatrice are more like brother and sister. The discussion at the end between Roswall and Subaru was a bit more explicit in the novel. Basically, Roswall said to Subaru that he would kill everyone if Subaru let even one person die without resetting and saving them. Roswall lost the bet with Subaru and is now forced to follow Subaru's way of absolute victory, so he wants Subaru to stick to it no matter what and will force a reset if Subaru doesn't continue saving everyone.

@AldebaranTau Meili is a 12 year old kid who lacked a good role model and parent figure all of her life. Beatrice is a 400 years old spirit that needs to be loved and to discover more of the world. Subaru doesn't teach her values and morals. Beatrice actually teaches and protects Subaru more than the opposite. That's why the relationship doesn't fit a father daughter one because Subaru relies on Beatrice just as much and maybe even more than she relies on him. That's why the relationship is more like one of a brother and sister. She is the little sister most of the time because of how Subaru dotes her and treats her, and when the situation is serious, she becomes incredibly serious and reliable, like a big sister.

Beako is, just like Subaru, a Yin Magic user, but due to her age and being Echidna's creation she possesses a much greater knowledge over it than pretty much anyone else. Pandora's reality rewriting and Subaru's Return by Death are 'Authorities' and thus have no corrolation Beako's Yin, or any other, magic and are a completely seperate power system.

Re:zero uses a ton of foreshadowing, both long term and short term. The novels often drop foreshadowing for events that happen several arcs later. The anime actually tends to cut a lot of the long term foreshadowing in order to focus more on the stuff that pertains to the current arc. As an example, in the novels, mention of the Sin Archbishop of Greed, Regulus, as well as the 3 great mabeasts, the white whale, great rabbit, and black serpent all originally get discussed in Arc 3 after the whale fight and before defeating Petelegeuse while discussing their knowledge on the witch cult. That all gets cut from the anime and we don't really learn about the 3 great mabeasts again until it becomes more pertinent again when the rabbits show up. Even some of the information on Regulus hasn't been discussed yet in the anime, although Garfiel does reference it with one of his sayings that no one understands when he mentions the fall of tesla fortress.

Idk if you see it but Beatrice never said any name except Roswaal for entire of 2 season. She call them half elf girl, Blue maid, Red maid, half beast girl, "YOU". This is why it big she finally refer to them by their name

There is one thing that have to be highlighted. Last time when Subaru used Shamac he shattered his gate. He is permamently unable to cast magic. It was told in light novel and manga I think but I read only light novel. In place of his gate the Witch factor rooted itself giving him Petelgeus ability unseen hands that he renamed. In this episode he is able to use magic by casting it through Beatrice

A bit about Beatrice's magic at the end of the battle, Al Shamac, it was supposed to be an ancient/legendary Yin-type magic that if you talk about it with any magic user in the kingdom, they won't believe you unless they seeing with their own eyes.

noo guys beatrice and subaru’s relationship isn’t like that at all😭😭 since beatrice is an artificial spirit (she’s a spirit made by echidna), she can’t feel romantic attraction, all artificial spirits can’t! it’s the same as puck and emilia’s relationship, except instead of father and daughter, beako and subaru are more like siblings! Also the reason the called his name a lot of times is because beatrice has never called anyone by their name, she’s always said “pink haired girl” or “silver haired girl” to refer to ram and emilia for example. she did that because she wanted to close herself off to everyone and didn’t wanna get attached. so after she got out of the library, she started to call everyone by their names. it’s such a small but meaningful detail

can’t wait for season 3 and you guys reacting it if you guys will 🙌🏻 amazing series imo

There are alternate routes to re zero written by the author, and the KZreadr echidnut has summary videos on them. I would love to see a reaction to them.

31:52 so, basically, when you add everything up, you pretty much liked the entire second season. ;-)

That pregnancy scene was akwardly hilarious & Beatrice's cuteness forced me to buy a figurine of her... I too loved how she was expanded on these past few eps. S3 is gunna be amaazing, cant wait to marathon it.

Some of my best moments in those 2 episodes were cut out and and I'm really not happy about that 😢

One “Easter egg” you may have missed is when the Emilia and the Ryuzu clones are in the Ryuzu Mayer crystal chamber, one of the Ryuzu clones (I think it was Shiima) commented in Echinda’s voice, exasperated with Emilia’s conclusions.

"When they planted a seed, sometimes it took too long" If Subaru dies in day 4, he goes back to day 1, then he has to figure out how to avoid his and others deaths, wich takes time, so he replays those initial days a few times, sobhe doesn't "reach the conclusion". He also cannot reach a conclusion to a particular problem and die and that would be a total waste, he has to figure out how to solve everything at once in a final try. That's how return from death works and there is no way around it. You have to understand the structure of the show.

I know they understand the structure of the show, I don’t think that’s what Ange is referring to. I think he is talking about it taking almost 18 episodes or something to see any of Emilia’s trial when they’ve been at the sanctuary all season. How we don’t figure out any info for Beatrice and Roswaal and Echidna until the finale here. They intentionally left questions hanging only to wrap them up in a big payoff in the final 4 episodes. It’s not overtly bad to make it wait like that, just not what everyone likes.

Betty used advanced Yin(shadow) magic which is the same affinity Subaru has. I recommend watching and reacting to Echidnut(youtuber) video on Re Zero magic. It's super interesting and well made system.

Re Zero is very episode focus, having little details about later, but i think what would help yall enjoy it more is if you try not to focus too much on guesses and finding answers. It's about the journey, but the answers will come.

Beatrice callimg his name is a big deal, except roswaal, she doesnt refer to anyone else by their name. Emilia has been "that half girl", similarly "the blue/red maid", "big brother" for puck, "half beast girl" for Fredrica and ofc "that annoyance/bug" to subaru or just calling him "that guy"

Yes, the ending of the season is a happy ending. But the anime left off an epilogue that is a setup for the future. Cut content from the novel : We see the body of ryuzu waking up and leaving the sanctuary. It's actually echidna inhabiting the body and coming back to the real world. She decides to call herself Omega and takes the crystal containing the soul of the other dead witches before leaving the sanctuary.

Roswaal A Mathers, now Roswaal L Mathers, just puts into perspective how many generations 400 years really is, and the entire time Roswaal was planning and following the tome of wisdom. makes sense why he became the antihero he is in order to serve as a parallel to subaru Anges wish about Roswaal having a redemption but having it be slow is actually what Re:Zero does best in my opinion. The best example of that is Subaru's self worth, even though he faces it and grows past his feelings of inferiority, and feelings of him only being able to offer his death because thats all hes worth....even through all that growth past those issues, you still see them happening, and WILL CONTINUE to see it happen because Subaru is human. growth doesnt happen overnight, and re:zero portrays that very well

It has no meaningful spoilers other than showing which characters show up. 24:50 Subaru didn't realize it at the time but when he made the bet with Roswaal he *had* to do all that the first time. If he had a RBD, the oath kicks in and he has to dance to Roswaal's music... forever. The contract with Betty. HIs gate is busted, he can't do magic. Turns out he's a Spirit Arts user. We had glimpse of this in s1 when he used IA (borrowed from Julius) to shoot fire at Zombie Betelguese. You didn't show it in your reaction but, when Betty had the flashback to the people who weren't "That Person" one of them was Otto's dad. He was looking for help to cure his son who appeared deaf and couldn't talk. Roswaal's redemption arc. He has a lot to redeeming to do. He murdered his relatives to get their bodies so he could transfer his soul and be Roswaal B through L Mathers.

Not only did Betty's book not detonate, but it would make sense for roswaal to lose it when his precious tome gets destroyed. Besides, they literally state it was roswal who did it in the novels.

I just hope Rem comes back in S3. I thought she'd be back by like halfway of S2 or by the end but she's still gone which is too long for one of the bigger characters. Technically Rem isn’t as big of a character. This series is going to be like over ten 25 episode seasons long(seams it will be longer with current additions). Characters in S1 were sidelined to complete Rem arc early and have her be "killed" to show stakes of RBD. She also is one of the characters that wasn't planned. So her being gone for a long time wouldn't negatively affect anything. Especially since she also isn't very strong in combat compared to all the other combatants.

@@bryangarcia5207 If the goal was to show the stakes of RBD then dont explain right after we lost her that she can be brought back. That puts the thought into fans that she'd be back in the near future. Dont put the plotline of trying to save her back into Subaru yet. And dont put it elsewhere too because Roswaal said he'd kill Subaru and force a reset if he failed to save even 1 person and that should include Rem. If the goal was to reintroduce Rem back into the story like 5 seasons later then they should've introduced the possibility of her being saved at that point or close to that point. Also the combat aspect or "how big of a part she plays" isnt important. Re:Zero isnt about combat nor anything of the likes. It has it yes but its not its strongsuit and is not its focus. Re:Zero has always been about its characters and what part they play in other characters progression. Rem is one of the biggest in that aspect.

You guys should react to seven deadly sins. you guys would LOVE the characters and designs

just for clarify the betty and subaru relationship is completely platonic they have sibling dynamic (only Emilia is romantic relationship,rem if you counter her too) What Betty means by being first is about love but not romantic love, more so she wants the emotional security of being someone's first priority in all things. This is what she means by "think of me first". In truth, despite being a 400 year old spirit, Beatrice is still fundamentally a child mentally that is scared of being alone and thus in a very child like way she wants those fears banished with a all too fanciful promise. This is where the story plays with Subaru's issues of being a promise breaker. As was told before promises are extremely important to spirits. So without the hope that Subaru could be the person to truly hold her as a first priority, she feels she has no hope and just wants to die. Elsa interrupted Beatrice before she could say why she'd prefer Subaru to be the one to kill her but if you think about it it's no real mystery. Beatrice wants Subaru to be the one to kill her because Subaru is kind. Betty is absolutely heartbreaking. And here we see the culmination of that and cathartic release were beatrice gains her own autonomy its was never about that person or making contract it was about betty making choice for herself and get out of the jail of her own making forbidden library and not be shut in, and for once leave for herself with subaru's support

Don't think it counts at all as a cliffhanger. It's a set up. Not cliffhanger because a cliffhanger is to build up for next season whereas this "cliffhanger" does not

I think it was not implied as clearly in the anime but at least in the original web novel, it is implied that Ram and Roswaal are intimate back in early S1. My impression is that Roswaal thought it was just sex, or just due to their positions, but Ram was actually into it romantically.

That is not at all true. What Roswal did was feed her mana because she lost her horn. She needs mana to be put where her horn used to be. Due to not having a horn, she is in constant pain so she feels relieve whenever she gets mana
