Formed in 1994 in Helsinki, The Rasmus is a Finnish rock band that originated during the members' upper comprehensive school years. The founding lineup included Lauri Ylönen (frontman, lead singer-songwriter), Eero Heinonen (bass), Pauli Rantasalmi (guitar), and Jarno Lahti (drums). After Lahti's departure in 1995, Janne Heiskanen joined, but later left in 1999, being replaced by Aki Hakala. In 2022, guitarist Emilia "Emppu" Suhonen joined the band, taking Rantasalmi's place. The band's standout hit, "In the Shadows," gained them global recognition in 2003. They've sold 5 million albums worldwide, with 350,000 in Finland alone, and have earned a multitude of both domestic and international awards. Additionally, The Rasmus represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song "Jezebel."
