I remember when the chiefs tried to get a bistate tax deal for the chiefs and Kansas didn’t want anything todo with it, and Missouri still paid for the tax, I just think it’s ridiculous that the owners just want more more more and when they don’t get it they threaten to leave when we stuck with them through the thick and thin, at this point just leave.

What i don't understand is Rice and entourage can afford to paid for a private racing session in a texas race track. I am in DFW area, that part of the freeway is so dangerous for street racing because all the 18 wheelers on them 24x7. I am glad that no one gets hurt. What they did is beyond being stupid.

These days people are so quick to post "breaking news" they don't even bother to check their information trying to one-up the next guy. By then, the misinformation train is already out there, a retraction or correction doesn't do much to alleviate any suspicions, especially since society loves anything salacious but finds truth and facts to be boring.

Sorry I'm not buying all the BS about the stadiums, especially when it comes to the Kansas City chiefs. Clark hunt has a huge attachment to that stadium. And I just don't see him not trying to work something out in the next 7 years. I think the problem is it was attached to the Royals and the Royals have not shown themselves to be a very well run organization of late. And to be honest I think it's the chief re-approach this and focus a little more on the regular fans, and keep the Royals out of it I truly think they'll work something out. Now if they don't work something out, I can see the possibility that they might relocate to the Kansas side of the state line. Do I like that? Honestly it doesn't really matter as long as they're still in Kansas city. I moved out of Kansas City 25 years ago, and it doesn't matter to me what side of the state line they're on😂

I agree with you. The chiefs should come up with their separate proposals. I think what got the over whelming no vote was the Royals wanting to rebuild in down town . From what I researched, it would have taken a bunch of apartments and small businesses from that area. They would’ve knocked down those buildings. And it also sounded like the Royals didn’t really have a full plan laid out. So I can’t blame the voters on that aspect for saying no, hopefully Chiefs can come back with a separate proposal. Something that will become more appealing to the fans and tax payers . I would hate to see them leave.

It has always irritated me that all the power was in the hands of Jackson County. These are the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals, but only Jackson Countians (not all of whom live in Kansas City) have a say. I’ve lived all my life north of the river in either Platte or Clay Counties, in incorporated Kansas City, and paying taxes to Kansas City, but up here, we’ve been held hostage to the whims of those south of the river with little or no representation. This is just another case of it. The Royals tried to play us by “exploring North Kansas City as a location for a new stadium” but no one outside of NKC’s Chamber of Commerce was fooled by that. They were never serious about it, even though it had greater potential and would have forced fewer displacements than the location they chose.

Again, excellent journalism. Latest news indicates NO charges for possession. Your diligence and attention to detail are singularly impressive.

Regardless of the amount, theres weed, theres speeding, racing, wrecking, leaving the scene...not a good look. I can leave room for a wake up call for rice, but this is a symptom of an ongoing character issue. Rice didnt wake up one morning and suddenly decide to engage in that behavior. He let his team down. Hopefully he gets things right as a result. Big suspension will result for sure.

I hope calmer heads prevail. Marny should expect to be taken seriously by absolutely no one - especially not by John. The approaching end of the TSC leases will perhaps be a good thing, freeing both teams to manage their future endeavors independently. Sherman's group could privately acquire a site which can accommodate enough commercial development to offset the cost of building their own ballpark. No public money needed, if they're up for that kind of scale and complexity. The Chiefs on their own would probably have plenty of community support to help finance what they'd like to do at Arrowhead (still publicly owned, of course), especially if they agree to leave the end zones alone. Voters were confused, divided and embittered over the intertwined issues involved in the recent ballot measure. No one I know had a complete, factual understanding of the details, though few would likely now admit it. Sherman's PR effort did seem kinda lame, despite finally presenting a truly inspired proposal with those beautiful renderings (Populous produces some fine work, and is a renowned KC firm). The timing felt rushed, possibly attributable to the need for additional design and engineering work in order to include that brilliant eastern extension of the South Loop park. (This would certainly be better and more efficiently accomplished if done in sync with the rest of that project.) Nothing could have swayed the parasites bent on demonizing anyone with money, but it's a shame the ground wasn't better prepared with Crossroads businesses ahead of the vote, with agreeable terms sewn up in advance. An attempt to win the support of local news and media people should also have preceded any appeal to the public. Instead they fought an uphill battle all the way, with scavengers crawling out of every dark corner to assert their increasingly spiteful and unrelated demands. As you say, Cole, there's still plenty of time for things to work out favorably for the city and the county. But if not, the hungry Kansas money men sniffing the water for blood will strike, and snatch the prestige and financial rewards Jackson County voters were too blinded by resentment to recognize or value. Also, why so many screamy 'bout hosting a Super Bowl? They're almost never home games anyway. And I don't care what anyone says, real football is not played in a dome (nor baseball, for that matter).

Racing on a highway is felony if it results injury.(up to 5 years in prison) Leaving the scene of an accident with injuries is also a felony in Texas(2-10 years). So 2 felonies will be bad enough. Also leaving weed behind in a hit and run might leave you open to automatic DUI charges but not sure of the law on that there. After the league suspends him for half the season and he pays up the people he injured this will be a real expensive mistake.

I'm sure Rice will get someone else to take the fall for driving and 'if' anything illegal was found in the vehicles. He may, however, have to pay out for the accident victims. He didn't leave the scene, and he hadn't been drinking. Accident happened in January 2023. A warrant was issued March 1, 2023, charges of reckless driving and racing. He turned himself in the same day, and 2 weeks later he pled no contest to reckless driving and racing, got 1 year probation, $1,000 fine, 80 hours community service, and a state-sanctioned driving course. 2 people were killed - the driver of the other car (a woman who was a recruiting analyst for the team) and the front seat passenger (Georgia football player). Her blood alcohol was .197. He got a lot of press coverage, much of it wrong, all through the months leading up to the draft - at the combine, at his Pro Day, draft day itself.
