Hey, CG. Just wanted to ask if you'd be willing to make a rather offbeat top 10/5. I'm thinking of the top rarest opponents in Chao Karate. Here's why: I was just putting my Chaos Chao Luna through the fights, and noticed the Chao from the Beginner Difficulty, Dinner, appear while standing. Implying that he apparently had a high enough Run Stat to do so. Dinner is already a rare appearance in Beginner, but I think it's more so to see it standing. Get back to me if you get the chance. I'd like to see what would be found by you.

@@ShiningSilvally the chao that you fight against in karate are pre determined and are the same everytime from my understanding. There are some chao that have special animations that were added specifically just for them in karate (I.e. happy in the beginner karate having a cool pre fight dance). I hope this helps

@@Choa Well, I've played in Beginner multiple times, and Dinner is a rarity, and Eggie is very common, who are both the semifinal opponent. Take a bit of time, and go into about 10 battle sets, and maybe you'll see Dinner.

@@Choa Hey, CG. Just wanted to confirm that something from earlier that I said was a mistake. It turns out, Dinner is a much more common occurrence with my new Chaos Chao, Chrome. I've yet to see him stand up, and I've seen Chrome fight Eggie once, but I'm sure that the rarity of these Chao can be ignored. Sorry about that. But, if you don't mind, my Chao Chrome, I was curious if you could obtain it legitimatley in SA2B, because it's called a Rainbow Chao. People have said that it can be done, but I can't find anything on Chao Island. Mind lending me a hand with some info, or maybe a better website? That would be very appreciated.

@@ShiningSilvally Chao Island is the best resource for chao. If the Rainbow Chao isn't there, I'm not sure it could be obtained without cheats.

Wish theyd make a Chao Garden game, just fully focused on growing and raising Chao with different styles

Seen this vid and checked switch store before even watching , all i remember is I had a dragon chao that was crazy in the dojo lol

I think they made 3 colors unobtainable on each save file to encourage trading chao with your friends across memory cards.

^this. Chao were a lot like pokemon mixed with tomagochi on steroids back in the day. You could take your chao over to your friend's house with Sonic Advance and enter them in the race/karate straight through the link cable. Back during the dreamcast days, you could even hook 2 memory cards up to each other and the chao would interact.

not 3 on some. try 6 !!!! i cant get red, yellow, cyan, pink, black, and brown -_________-....on the xbox version, and i reset my file 10 times and no change :(((

@@gircakes not true. My file on xbox 360 i have every color! Not even every emblem. I have black, yellow, lime green etc. I tried to cloud save it but that was a while ago when i actually had 360. Now i have the one. So basically theyre locked on to my xbox 360's SA2 file

They need to bring this back. This ALWAYS slapped. Best part of the game. I stayed in this place forever

I'll keep saying it. Sega has been providing a great disservice to themselves and the gaming community by not focusing on a Chao focused game, or by reintroducing them into the sonic games. Most of this games replayability came from the chao garden. Everyone loves them. They'd be printing money.

@@jeremiahbaugh8195 I mean if they just took every chao garden they've had in a game and remastered it for the switch, (like a way where you can alternate between each version,) and with a few progression tweaks I think that'd do it.

I have a chaos Chao that I've taken care of since I was literally 12 years old at least. It's been 15 years and Rascal is still my absolute favorite good boy.

Oh my god the Chao garden was my obsession from like age 10 to age 12. I remember buying sonic games for years just because I was hoping they'd bring the chao garden back. I would pay a stupid amount of money for a chao raising game in current year, and it would be _perfect_ with mobile phone integration!

That's so true! It could be like the tiny chao garden on Sonic Advance, but ya know, with more to do and it would have a cooler interface. The way I picture it in my head seems so awesome. We can only hope it comes true.

Chao Garden was so detailed for something that was just an optional side game. We need a new one with online for current systems.

fyi, Chaos is also a Chao, although one who mutated farther than any other Chao of having advanced possible forms. This can be proven in the Japanese version of Sonic Adventure, and only the Japanese one, as in the first Tikal flashback cutscene, you hear Chaos making Chao noises. I love Chao so much. Chao alone are my reason for rebuying Sonic Adventure 2 on multiple platforms, and always buying the DLC that adds to SA2 the improvements Sonic Adventure 2 Battle brought to the game

Dude I miss playing the chao stuff in SA2 I just wish we could get a graphically upgraded remake. I remember playing it on GameCube and would spend soooooo much time on my chaos

Great video, but the info about the character chao isn't entirely accurate- there's a Japanese demo disc included with certain Gamecubes in Japan (Nintendo Gamecube 2003 E-Soft Catalog) that allows you to transfer the Tails, Amy, and Knuckles chao to a Japanese copy of SA2B or SADX using a Gameboy Advance as many times as you like! I obtained all these chao legitimately around a year ago by purchasing a Japanese Gamecube, this demo disc, and a Japanese copy of SA2B. So, while these chao are still very rare, there isn't actually a limited quantity of them.

It is good to see that someone else knows the the 2003 e-soft catalog disc. I also got this disc and a Japanese version of SA2B so I could get these chao.

God I loved this game so much. Literally the best example of a game that wasn't actually a super amazing and polished game BUT was also undeniably super fun

I actually remember back when I played SA2, I had 2 of the transparent types of Chao and the Tails Chao. Such good times...

Imagine having a legit Moon All S Chaos Chao.

I remember getting a legit tails chao chao when I was about 13 (8 years ago) It was one of the best moments of my life. My dad had always been a phantasy star fan so he had the game and I played it a bit when I was younger. I booted it up to find I was actualy on the Faking yellow mission just by chance and I got my self the tails chao :)

PSO episode 1 and 2 is a legendary game. Getting the tails chao as a child was just a bonus.

I had no idea there was still a community of dedicated chao gardeners. I love stuff like this. You guys over here, just enjoying your thing. Heck yeah, man.

Been preaching this for years.

I have everything required to get legitimate knuckles and Amy (and tails) chao if you were ever interested. There is an obscure Japanese e-catalog disc for the GameCube that allows you to send an unlimited amount of these 3 chao to a game boy advance. These can then be transferred to sonic adventure 1 or 2. Unfortunately, this disc is region locked so without home brew or something similar, you can’t do this on an American GameCube. The GBA is not region locked so the temporary tiny chao garden is accessible on any game boy advance. However, it won’t transfer to an American copy of SADX/SA2. So for this reason i also have a Japanese copy of SA2.

I used to love playing sonic adventure 2 on the GameCube when I was younger. Super nostalgic

1:00 its cause it encourages trading with other people which you can do, didn't say I liked it either but it terms of a reason that was the dev's reason

Man... I was SO young when I played this, like, literally 7-8 years old. How I had chaos Chao back then is beyond me. Forever my favorite part of Sonic Adventure. I really miss that game to be honest.

Wow, tearing up from nostalgia! I tried to get all of the different chao wothout a guide and happy to know that I truly would have been able to get the chaos and angel chao if I kept going! I already had a devil chao but man.... To think if I kept going I would have gotten the other two including S chao.

Fun fact my friends and I actually got the Tails chao a bit back since I just so happened to have everything and it's really neat to actually have it in a legit memory card. Didn't even know it was a thing before trying to get it.

Honestly, my Dark Chaos Chao from 20 years ago is one of my greatest childhood gaming achievements. I still remember crying to my parents and curling up on the couch with them when my very first chao died and wow did it make an impact on me back then.

Thanks for the video! I have played sonic adventure 2 for hundreds of hours and my greatest achievement is my angel chaos bright pink 2 tone chao with all S stats and each stat being 3266 (this being the highest they can get). It took me months to get it there and someday I’ll do more chaos chaos. I wish newer sonic games had chao gardens but being able to play the game cube one for an unlimited amount of time is still fun to this day!

I remember like 10 years ago i had an urge to get back into chao, i had a few of the ones on this list, onyx, transparent, jewel chaos etc. i remember i found out about the chao island website that listed all the rare and bugged chaos and actually bought the game that had tiny chao garden(already had the cable to connect it to my gamecube). Chao raising was so fun, i cant believe theres been almost no word on it ever coming back. I still have the memory card with all my rare chao, but im a bit scared the internal battery may had died and wiped that memory card

I remember as a young lad, begging my mom to buy me the phantasy Star episode 1&2 game just so I could get a Tails chao on my GC. She never did. Then like 5 years later in my late teens she accidentally instead bought me Phantasy Star Universe for the Xbox 360 thinking

I was always conflicted about making a Chaos Chao because I didn't like that there are only 3 kinds, but obviously I wanted them to live forever too. Personally my favorite looking chao were the Neutral Swim, Neutral Power, Neutral Fly, Hero Swim, Hero Run, and Dark Swim, so I liked the idea of keeping them that way instead of eventually getting them all to the same form.

Thank you for making this video. Ugh my childhood nostalgia kicked in with this one. I only ever had a dark and angel chaos chao 💜

The Dreamcast version was so good! Especially with the memory card acting as a tamogotchi type thing , every kid loved that lol

I love how tails was cheating at the end stopping the other chao from getting the lead in that race.

I wish this energy still existed in pokemon, but everyone hacks there now

0:57 It's for trading on the Dreamcast's old internet servers back when they were active. You were supposed to trade the chao colors you couldn't get on your own save. Kind of like what Pokémon does with its version exclusives, like Sableye and Mawile. Still stupid how they didn't fix that for the ports, though, considering you couldn't trade chao after that.

I spoke with a lady at a comic con. She explained to me that they do not know who owns the chao anymore. It was a huge fight on who owned them at the end. This is why we didn't see them after a certain point.

I didn't even know there were more than dark and light chao. Neat to know the coolest ones I can't get

Ah, SA2B Chao garden... I remember leaving my gamecube on overnight to get some silver/gold Chao, and as a kid I had no clue how choa garden even worked. Wish they'd re-release the Dreamcast/Gamecube era Sonics, those were the best ones.

I remember spending years just trying to learn the mechanics of the chao garden and I still don't fully understand it. And I cannot count the hours I've been in there either. I also didn't realize only so few people even complete SA2 to get all of the emblems. Something I tend to do every time I've had to start over the game. Seeing that shiny black chao being on the list of rare was interesting because of that. And on top of that, I did plenty of breeding so I do know how that works slightly. But none the less this even for as late as it got to me was interesting. S chao's being something I like to go for over time. Although with the mods, I had to use those to get certain chao these days, and it's also hard for me to ever just let go of any at all after completing their stats. An all S chao can also potentially gain 31 points per stat but usually gets around 3096 as a maximum. However that is unlikely to happen. 3375 being total max after reincarnating twice as well. Making that probably the most rare with that sorta thinking. But that's also according to the chart and tables that it's possible. I've never seen this in all my chao lives that I've seen. But who knows?

Nice guide, but I wish I had the endurance in my impatient cortex to actually leave the game on for hours just to get a freaking devil chaos chao. I'm not a fan of grindy offspring raising games (Harvest Moon, Animal crossing flower hybrid breeding/relationship building etc.) to begin with, and I hate the fact that in order to get all the game gear games/Metal Sonic in SADX and Green Hill in SA2, you have to get Chao's to win all of the minigames which is required for 100% emblems which isn't easy to do for the reasons I mentioned earlier

There is another one you missed! My favorite: Shiny "normal color" Chao, it's essentially a shiny that takes on normal colors, so if you turn it into an angel it will white and pink, black and red if devil etc, It's hard to remember but to obtain it I think you had to breed the transparent chao with a shiny chao, or a transparent with invisible, can't remember. This was my favorite type since you could appreciate all the original chao designs but shiny.

The gamecube one. Their were tons of Sonic Advance Games and PSO that could get you alot of neat gems.

I oddly remember seeing a knuckles chao on the game,but the saddest thing is,it was a rental,so whoever played the game before I did was able to get the knuckles chao through an event,and I never figured out how to get the knuckles chao after getting the game,so it made me even more upset

Back on the Gamecube, I made a green Devil Chao. Looked so cool.

I got me a Tails Chao from PSO back in the day. I also remember I raised a "Classic Amy Chao" Where I got a pink egg, and raised it as a speed type so it got Sonic's spines.

I remember having 1 of each choas chao years and years ago on gamecube. I did it again on steam a year back took me soooo long because this time I was breeding for S stats. I wish you could get the characters chao legit.

The Chao Garden? They’re a completely optional thing you can do in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2, they are so cute. If you have the GameCube version you can connect a Game Boy Advance and use them there as well. I think you need a compatible Sonic game on the GBA as well though.

Onyx jewel chao took so freaking long to grind, I'd go back and forth between the minigames and just getting like 200-300 rings on level 1. I remember it taking ages as a kid.

Man i remember being happy as a kid finally unlocking the heaven area and spending countless hours. My favorite sonic haired chao i raised got in an egg and i thought it was evolving but the chao never reappeared when the egg disappeared. Thats when I quit 😢

The first time I accidentally bred chao and got an invisible chao 8 was so surprised! Now Ive mastered the breeding process for them and have a few! They’re pretty neat ☺️❤

I was also able to turn one of my original chao from when the game first released on GC into an immortal chao and due to being able to copy that chao onto my GBA and saving him to other memory cards multiple time before he transformed, I was able to get all 3 versions of the chaos chao 😁 still have him to this day and he’s one me many races and karate matches hehe ^^

I love chao! I have a 100 complete save file disc(gamecube)sitting and collecting dust with super strong chaos on them, all 3 chaos chaos and so many more. I’d love to collect these rare ones… I might just download these games on my Xbox and start a new file, start a new pool of memories haha

You don't, though. Time passes in the Chao Garden if you're in it. It still does take a long time, though.

Im pretty sure you don't need a copy of sonic advance to obtain the tails chao, when i done it, i just needed to turn my GBA on with no cartridge inside and connect it to the GC, it downloads the chao garden from PSO and puts it on the blank GBA

I remember saving up rings forever to get that Onyx Chao on my GBA, so I could transfer it to the Gamecube. Never got it tho...

I wish there was more information about the Chao Garden for Sonic Adventure for the DC. I loved taking it out on the VMU.

I have a purple chao, 4 chaos chao, an invisible chao, a translucent chao, and an onyx chao. One of the chaos chao I have had for 19 years and he's a devil chao called "Hell0". Btw I have the Gamecube version, but I play it on the Wii.
