I know some people already pointed this out, but the 8th red island (Provenance Island) at 10:09 is a Chinese-themed island, not Japanese. All the red & gold colours, the patterns used, the imperial furnitures etc. scream Chinese. Plum blossoms which are similar to cherry blossoms are also commonly used as decorations in Chinese culture as they are the national flower of China.

Yeah China and Japanese are pretty similar because of the cherry blossoms and feel both places give, but Japanese has less red.

@@flopztoast4185 Zen is a Mahayana Buddhism school that originated in China during Tang Dynasty. I don’t know much about Mahayana Buddhism, but if the island is using that concept and symbolism, maybe we can call it zen-core too. Anyway, when people talk about zen decorations, they usually refer to Japanese zen. Its decorating colours primarily consist of natural earth tones/soft tones and soothing neutrals, to induce a sense of relaxation and calmness, since zen means “meditation”. So in my opinion, to call the island “imperial-themed” as written in the video description gives more accurate image than calling it “zen-core”.

I consider my island “nostalgia-core”. I have villagers that remind me of loved ones and I created places that I used to go to as a kid (the beach town my family visited, a boardwalk, hiking trails) I love it🤗

Mine i feel like is natural core. I have three headstones in a graveyard to represent the three loved ones I lost that broke my heart. And cherry to represent my sister whom is one of the three people I lost will forever be on my island. I may get Dobby to represent my dad and I have to find an upbeat kind of energetic female character to represent my best friend that passed

The overgrown kidcore is so pretty and is a great representation of how I feel on the inside. A grown up but a child at heart always and forever

The red island looked like it was actually Chinese themed, not Japanese. Red is a lucky color in Chinese culture and is commonly used in decor and festivities. I also saw the lion statues in the background. Those statues are commonly found in Chinese culture also. It was very beautiful.

Im doneeeeee lol, I did a Newsies themed Island but most people dont know what Im talking about when I say that so I usually say its Early 1900s New York themed. It fits really well with a lot of the Retro/damaged items and 90% of my Island is bricks and wood patterns thrown everywhere lol

How do you get enough items for such a specific theme? I’m only getting burnt out because my progress is stifled by 1. Having to make a ton of custom codes that aren’t the fun kind to make. And 2. I don’t have all of the items needed so I get frozen in place.

My island is gonna be a combination of horror and kidcore. My favorite type of horror is nostalgic based, which involves very a childish and whimsical feeling combined with an unsettling atmosphere. Think of dont hug me I'm scared as a general feel of the theme

I think it would be fun to do one island for every color, but throw a secondary theme on top, for instance, elegantcore in all green, or fairycore in all purple etc.

Parts of Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah have “lush” deserts where there can be a lot of sage brush and other bushes or cacti that can at times be colorful.

One of my biggest pet peeves is everyone adding "core" at the end of every single possible theme and calling it a new and revolutionary aesthetic ughh. I'm not one to call something cringey but I physically cringe when I see someone calling a theme "something-core" when it doesn't roll of the tongue at all.

There's currently more than 23000 items in the game. The number includes all color variations of each item, clothes, and foods

10:10 Provenance has a more Chinese aesthetic with the dominant red color (red is a popular color in Chinese culture). People should really stop labelling any Asian theme as "Japanese"...

I tried visiting atlantica, it lagged so much that my frames dropped to like 15 fps, and it felt like my eyes were going to explode, but it was so cool!

I would absolutely love to see another video like this! I feel like I get so bogged down with cottagecore or forestcore that it's easy to forget how wildly creative you can get with ACNH. I also really liked how you delivered the islands in the video - in-depth tours of one island is great, but I enjoyed the fast-paced paragraphs about all the great aspects of 12 islands

As a beginner im just doing a pink theme 🤣 simple enough. But these are incredible! My island will get there someday 🥺💖

i feel like a really underrated theme is dreamcore/weirdcore or even glitchcore for islands! they are all really unique and fun to make an island with, as someone who has a weirdcore themed island :)

Funny story! I visited the rainbow island on a random dream address! was so shocked when I saw it in this video!

My theme is a dark forest with a murder mystery story for you to follow. There are clues for you to solve it along the way as you explore and I spent a lot of time terraforming. It’s based on a real mystery in my family that I’ve never disclosed until now ☺️😊

The 8th island actually denotes a mix of Japanese and Chinese cultures because the yellow part of carpet like path is actually a significant symbol in Chinese culture

I'm working on an island that is Jotunheim, and my character is Loki. I'm a slow builder, so I've only done the entrance so far, but hopefully i can finish this island. I'm trying to think of different builds to have on the island, but I've got plenty of time for that since i need a lot of diy recipes still anyway.

Lovely vid! I once saw a vaporwave island and it was positively stunning. I intend to do something like that if I'm able to.

I'm currently working on a "mine" themed island where the whole island is a giant dig/excavation site! I hope you get to feature it someday, when its finished!

I have a few ideas An abandoned Kingdom where the island tells the story of how the kingdom came to an end An apocalyptic futuristic island

I dont have themes except for my home area, I only care about looking like a functional place to live for my villagers, well except for Fauna, Wolfgang, and Maple. They live in the cottage/country side of my island.

i think an interesting theme that personally, i'm doing for my island is a city-core and farm-core island! Like separating the island into two sides for example; left side city, right side farm core. It's a great theme, that is very original that you probably won't find a lot!!

Love!! I really enjoyed this video! It's amazing how there are so many themes that people have done for their islands that I haven't seen yet! We're all familiar with the common popular themes, which I myself really enjoy, but it's SO refreshing to see different takes and different combinations of existing themes to create something really unique! I especially loved the abandoned kidcore island! Would love it if you did a part 2-I bet there are SO many other island types we haven't seen yet. Like cyberpunk ones! Never seen anyone do that one until recently and I LOVED it

OMG STFU THAT FAIRYTALE BASEMENT!!!! that is AMAZING. the entire island is incredibly creative and beautifully executed. I will forever be so impressed by the creativity and talent of my fellow crossers. This game brings out the best in people. This iteration has been my favorite by far and I can only hope the next version is even better. But this... with the online experiences and now the 2.0 update.... there's only small quality of life updates I could even ask for, so it's hard to imagine everything they're doing to make the next one.

I've seen some of these islands before on KZread. Several acnh youtubers have done full island tours of some of these islands. ♡ At 10:47, I love that view, that spot. Cute little Japanese looking restaurant, sitting area. ♡ I loved seeing all these islands. 👍

as soon as Lex said under the sea my brain instantly goes, "under da sea!"

On my Island I have every section themed after the villager living in it. All the areas are connected to a cafe/restutaunt, each restaurant having an area behind it. There’s just so many great items that I wanna use Elvis- old kingdom/town, with the tailors and cranny Klaus- in front of the museum in a big garden with statues Rudy- playground area and pirate beach Erik- Forest/woods with the camp Me- Orchard, Farm, Beekeeper and overall dark cottage core Merengue- In the middle of restudaunt/cafe area Tiffany and Cherry- Modern Neon Nightlife City with arcade and bands Sprinkle- Winter and Ice Once the update is there; Ione- space and Mystical Shino- Asian

Have you done an island tour on that first under the sea island? I would love to see one! I only found a french person that did a KZread tour of it :(

These islands feel absolutely *stunning*; some of them even made me feel like you were walking through a Story of Seasons town, such a professional feel.

I have a Newsies themed Island and I get quite a lot of compliments even tho a lot of ppl whove gone to my Island dont know what Newsies is lol. Its essentially Early 1900s New York, a lot of Brick and wooden patterns in a big old box of controlled chaos and I love it. I get to use a lot of the Retro/damaged items along with a lot of brick/wooden textures but in a big city setting. Its still a work in progress but its theme is probably why Im so committed to my island bc it takes a lot of brainstorming to make certain items work

@@krisuler7734 Oh, my gosh, it's neat! Think of a witchy vibe, but make it kinda muddy and chaotic and full of mischief. Mushrooms, snails, frogs, moss, ferns, shiny rocks, mismatched tapestries and twinkle lights, shaggy colorful hair, foraging. Goth meets hippie meets crustpunk. I have 4 pet rattos that I adore that I think are pretty "gobbo", too. 🥰

my last island was super unplanned and thrown together-- it was 5 stars and pretty goblincore, but the layout made no sense. i decided to restart (i completely restarted since i hated my island name) and i was planning on doing dark academia with a prestigious university kind if vibe, but i got white streetlamps (i'd been hoping for black or brown) so i tried to change my aesthetic to cottagecore with a lot of bee vibes-- i immediately got bored of it and wasnt loving how it was going so i've kind of impulsively decided to try and make it all magical/overgrown ruins themed. hopefully it goes well

i love so many aesthetics that my island kinda ended up having two sides but i ended up going with having a “sun side” and a “moon side” (also suits my island name “moonrise”) the sun side reminds me of going on vacation and visiting my favorite places with a beach that screams “holiday” while the moon side has a city aesthetic and the beach is filled with stuff that suits the night both sides are very colorful too !! i especially put focus on almost using pink orange and yellow flowers and colorful furniture it’s still a WIP but i’m excited about the things i could do with new items

Me too! I’m a huge fan of goblincore but I couldn’t find any islands that fit the theme. Tho mine is less goblincore and more just a basic natural theme as when I started the game I didn’t have anything particular in mind lol

4:35 I actually have an in-progress rainbowcore island !!! it's not quite as colorful as this one, there are more natural areas, but I think the theme is still very obvious :D

I literally just restarted my whole Island since it had no consistent theme and I got super bored and unlucky with it, I already looked up what kind of aesthetic I want to go with and thought that the under water theme was highly unappreciated but then I also felt like wanting to go with an junglecore theme or how I like to call it a Carabean theme so I think I will mix them both I‘m so excited I don‘t regret restarting my island even tho I made it pretty far

I have two islands and i’m doing a European gothic/murder mystery theme for one of them (there’s an actual murder mystery that you need to solve) and i’m going to redo my main one into a vaporwave theme :)

My island is literally gonna look like a normal little town until you walk around and find bloody trash bags and a random dead body on the beach, with a side of mini military camp tucked away in some corner lmao. was thinking of doing an archipelago/indonesia themed island :) im excited for how its gonna look

Im currently working on my island which weirdly enough is a mix of pastel goth, JJBA (not really, just added a few things hinting at it), and Gurren Lagann.

I’m trying to make a 4 seasons themed island, dividing my island into quarters for each season and then resident services is “all seasons” each quadrant having special seasonal and holiday touches

The fairy tale island was MIND BLOWING

@@LexPlayy Yes, it’s more Chinese than Japanese. You won’t see many red and gold colours in Japanese culture. I’m glad you realized your mistake. Hope you can add some correction notes.

I don’t know if mine is considered “unique” but I did my island Neverland themed! I recreated the map the best that I could even with Mermaid Lagoon. I am IN LOVE with it but I’ve had it for a while and don’t know if I should change it or not 😭🥲

My island theme is probably vintage springcore, Yes, it’s confusing but basically there’s a few vintage hints and references I guess. Then the springcore part is like abandoned, but not the scary type LMAO

Ooh Great video idea!please do a part 2! I loved the underwater island, that was absolutely ingenious. Also the rainbow island was spectacular (I think it was lgbtq+ influenced based on the person’s username but I could be wrong 🤗) but all were very inspiring. 😁
