A friend of mine has this car but its pimped out lower, black rims, turbo, high level spoiler and upgraded engine ive been in it it and it goes 100mph in 2nd gear

I still HAVE my old Impreza WRX. MY99, bought it new in Nov 1998. It's still running like new.

to be perfectly honest I would just cry to be even 3 feet within this vehicle.

I always thought this was the best looking Subie!! Best looking, best performing, most winningest.. Quite simply the best Subaru ever made we are looking at here. IMHO. Awesome car.

I know this carries a huge legacy and it's the ultimate collector's Subaru but looks wise it's equal if not second to the '04 WRX STI. At least for me.

NOBODY WILL EVER OWN THE 22B 000/000 prototype. It is Subaru locked up treasure.

Colin McRae had a 22b at home as this was his favourite of all the impreza's! The P1 is a nice impreza as well!

Agreed. Always liked the Impreza more than the evo, but when they produced the ugly hatchback Impreza (2008 or whenever it was) it was about the evo all the way

There were Three 000/000 plaqued 22B's made, one went to Colin McRae, one went to Nicky Grist and the one you have there for Subaru Japan. With regards to the production 22B's made, 16 were made for the UK Market with specific setup changes, they have a higher final drive ratio and 1999 spec headlights. They were fitted with special 22B Type UK badges and were not fitted with a centre console plaque and were not individually numbered.

As a Mitsubishi lover I would kill to have one of these beauty much respect for the 22B.

This car should belong in a art gallery, it is a beautiful classic, this car is more rare then most supercars and other cars in the world, and the longest and most reliable car in the 90s, and probably still perfect running, this car handles better than super cars, and is the best at racing, amazing car

My 22B is the rarest of them all and possibly the most special as it is #013. Subaru denied its existence due to it being #013. It too was a test car taken to the states for press release etc. I purchased it with a mere 6000k on the clock. It still has the plastic on the indicator/windscreen wiper stalks :)

+Steve Willow This was a long time ago, but why would they say you don't have #13? 13 is a English lore, in Japan they have the number 13 wherever. In Japan however the number 4 you will NEVER see. It is like the English lore for 13. So I call BS on this due to wrong superstitious number.

Any car of Colin's that wasn't turned into a crumpled ball is special, IMO. 😀 I will always love his "win it or bin it" attitude and he is still, in my mind, the most spectacular rally driver ever. Watch his attack on "Bunnings" stage to see one of these beautiful wide body coupes being both driven and flown by the master.

man you are one lucky fellow. The 22B is my dream subaru. R.I.P Colin McRae. A true WRC legend. He inspired me to buy my 04 STI as well. These cars are awesome! I hope STI Mitaka lets me get to see the legendary 22Bs and the other WRC subarus as well!

3 22b's were labeled as "000", Colin McRae's (S447 YOX), Nicki Grist's (S446 YOX), and the 3rd one (This one) was used as a press car for Subaru (S445 YOX) at the time, then sold to David Lapworth and later bought back by Subaru

Just make sure if you take the 22B, you bring a working spare battery to start it. You would not want zombies to get to you first.

Ethan Dodge i know it's not the same but my miata had 120hp instead of 116. Every car has a little difference in power, even if they are the same car and have the same engine. I think VW said once that cars can have 5-10 HP more or Less than what they sell so it's only natural

seeing colins impreza is very nostalgic, not only because it was the first car i considered to be my favourite but because colin mcrae rally (the original) was the first game i owned!

I manage to make it here recently while in Tokyo. Thankfully, the battery was charged, and I got to start it up. The NBR STIs were a nice bonus, would have been nice to see into the '15 STI though, but it's all blacked out.

I could have brought a p1 for 4 grand in great nick low milage 20 years ago, but couldnt afford the insurance now there 25+ for good models

A guy in japan recently won a 22B from the factory. It was never driven and still had that blue plastic protection film on it. He sold it for about $50,000 because he didn't want it.

I miss so much this 22B!

The 22B blue isn't the same as the actual World Rally car blue, it looks a bit lighter for some reason. Subaru should do the right thing and make the BRZ All Wheel Drive and turbo charge it with a proper STI Boxer engine.

+ron ferrel @ 1:59 typicall, out of respect I also try to close the GC8's door with respect, though rarely get it in 1 go :-) It's due to the fact having no metal frame around the door-window, the glass is placed such that it leans on the rubber when closed. To make sure it is water & air tight. That's why it is difficult to close without semi-slamming the door. More modern cars with such a design have a mechanism to slightly lower the window when door is closed, about a cm, when closed, it moves up again to the original (top) position.

Very nice 22, but the 06 or 07 rally car is absolutely stunning.

All time favorite WRX's: 22B, P1, the RB5 and the Type RA STI. I believe there were 3 22B prototypes that were #000. One was given to Collin McRae, Nicky Grist and the 3rd was given to David Lapworth. Subaru of America was given an unnumbered car for show and tell. It' shows up a lot at auto shows and trade shows. Car #013 was never built/badged. 22B = 2.2 Liter Engine w/Bilstein Suspension. Hope that covers it all. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
