I have a similar story DTOX. I bought the F7A upgrade on Veterans Day in 2013, but gave it to CyberianTiger as a veteran’s day gift. Aznog replaced mine back in 2016 as he did with you poising the question of just how many backers owe their thanks to Aznog? He is indeed a wonderful person!

I bought two of the upgrade kits during that veteran's day sale in 2013. I never expected it to turn into a ship. For years I was hoping I'd be able to use that 'body kit' to upgrade it to the mark 2 which I had wanted ever since that remake was shown by Chris Smith. In the end I've got my cake and can eat it too, with an F7A mk I and mk II. The last thing I'll be looking for to put a cherry on top would be the UEE skin for the mk II like we've seen in the squadron trailers. It's been a long road from my digital colonel pledge in 2012 but I'm pumped to still be flying the Hornet.

It's pretty decent in Atmos, and I was slapping F7A's consistently in AC. It's not crazy bad.

I believe there were 500 Vanduul Scythes sold (not Esperia), that were 'recovered' by the UEEN, as I recall. As for the F7A Veteran's Day Upgrade, I bought four back in the day, and secretly hoped that CIG would one day turn them into a full F7A ship upgrade, rather than just a cosmetic upgrade as they were sold. I could never have imagined they'd become full F7A ships themselves. Combined with the F7A MkII, I'm a happy Hornet camper.

Several years ago I asked a dev in person if he knew how many of the military upgrades were sold and his response was "thousands" So the Scythe is likely the rarest ship now. AFAIK the plan is that with the launch of SQ42 the Scythe and Glaive will both be updated/upgraded to have identical specs and performance but with slightly different appearance. This is to ease dev work for balance and updates as they would effectively be the same ship.

They only did 1 sale for the F7A mk1. And people are out here acting like the mk2 will be available again. When like it's predecessor, probably won't ever be made available to earn again

Yes the Scythe is available as a loaner for Imperators subs. CIG said at last year's Bar Citizen that the rarest 'ship' in game is the Star Kitten Dragonfly

OMG I paused the video at 5::27, logged in, ran to the ASOP and there she was... I always wondered what was going to happen when they applied the F7A upgrade a to my weekend warrior pack which I had bought just 5 days before on Nov 4th 2013. Now with a big grin on my face I have a F7C-M Super Hornet Mk I two seater and a F7A Hornet Mk 1. That was completely out of the blue, thanks you & CIG made my night.

I first pledged in October 2013 and was around and fully into the game hype when the f7a hull upgrade went on sale. I remember thinking eh, that's too vague to spend money on(we all believed it would literally just be the f7a paint scheme). Man ain't that a kick in the ass to learn what it's worth today lol. After coming back after a decade because of sumsum

Don't forget the Star Kitten Dragonfly. I don't think a lot of those were obtained.

Yes, the Scythe perk is still active. I have one in my hanger.

Sythe is still a part of the subscription. Nobody flies it because it's a heaping pile of trash. I believe it's intended to be a melee ship, and until that mechanic is properly in game it will probably remain unflown with the exception of being a backup fighter

Perk is still active, scythe was initially 100 captured Scythe. They added it to the Completionist package later, which has gone up in price a tad in the last decade

For quite a while years ago you could fly the F7A Mk I at will by stealing an NPC one -- back then NPC ships were unlocked by default so you could steal single seat fighters by killing the pilot with ballistics. You could even store it in an 890J so you could pull it out again later if you wanted. =) Sadly now NPC ships are locked and there is no way to break into ships that don't have shootable doors/ramps/hatches.

I've got both the Mustang Omega and the Aegis Sabre Raven. The Mustang is actually my starter ship/base package.

Probably not the rarest, but definitely one of the rarest ships. And really cool. As a fellow mk1 Hornet lover who joined too late to get that upgrade kit I am totally jealous!

the rarest ship to date is the platinum F8 lighting. only 42 were handed out by devs. though really its more a paint of the vessel than a unique ship.

I do own a Vanduul Scythe. Only 300 of them are ever sold. Maybe they gave some extras away for very special game packages. But the state of isn‘t really good. You can’t change most of the loadout. I fly it sometimes to show.

i fly my glaive all the time the problem with the scyth is if you go faster than SCM speeds in atmo it flops around its handling is garbagio.

I have never settle space edition with LTI , as far as I'm aware all other packs have 2 months insurance , I think I have the only one in existence with LTI :)

Yeah there are a few in LTI but they are very rare. They go for like 1200+ on the grey market I believe.

Have you tried transplanting the main turret to other hornet variants? I am really curious if that works. If it does work you will become my best friend because I will ask you to meet you in game so I can put it on my superhornet and do loadout manager shenanigans to save the turrte to my ship :D

For years, the sabre and many other ships could only be obtained through third party ship trading... Then CiG crashed melt values and destroyed the grey market.

i have one and no it is not, scythe is probably rarer, and maybe the AMD mustang Omega too

Scyth was available first day of alien week and also part of the subscription so it isn't rare as the mk1 hornet

I think the Sabre Raven is the rarest from what I have seen. Excluding the whale donator ships (many of those people only reach that level from grey market selling, then buying more to resell). AMD Omegas would be close but there was the slip up by Newegg in 2014 where you could buy the promo code for $1 each for about 12 hours before they fixed it. That, plus retail employees just taking the physical cards which had the promo led to a few thousand more going out than would have naturally. F7A Mk I would be up there in that group, along with the F8C, probably followed last by F7A Mk II. But for the future, the Raven and Omega will never be obtainable again (without grey market or one of the rare 900P's floating around with a good code). Plus with the current gifting rules, they can only be gifted now from the original account to 1 person, then never again. The Firebird and Gamma confirm this and are CIG's way of throwing people a bone who couldn't get the rare versions. The rest could be offered in future events or sales.

Everyone got their fomo knickers in a twist over whatever ships are artificially "rare". Frankly couldnt care less, the Hornet series are the most vanilla boring ships in SC and those huge dank vacuum cleaner intakes aren't helping. Good video tho.
