In January 2024 I decided to snowball and payoff the only debt I had which was my mortgage balance of $212,000. The balance today is $168,000. Super proud of myself and looking to be 100% debt free in 2027.

Well I just got my feelings hurt. I'm sitting here at my desk in my knotty-pine dining room next to my kitchen that has Formica counter tops. I had just about convinced myself that I wasn't a dinosaur! I have been listening to Dave Ramsey for about 20 years and I am totally debt free and I actually could afford right now to solve the question of the Formica counters and my knotty-pine walls but honestly they really don't bother me. But then I still have a wall telephone in my kitchen too and yes, it still works so having that wall phone doesn't bother me either. I may be the only person left on the planet who doesn't own a cell phone. Which member of the Ramsey crew was it who said something like, "If you are thinking of making a purchase, ask yourself if you would make this purchase if you knew no one would ever see it." I love that but honestly my archaic kitchen doesn't bother me even though people sometime see it. I don't mind being archaic and I have never much concerned myself with whether other people liked my stuff. I guess that's one hold-over from being raised in extreme poverty. I got used to having things that most people didn't much like and NOT having things that they DID like. I'm actually joking about my feelings being hurt. I sort of got a chuckle out of it because it reminded me of those bumper stickers on old beat-up cars that say, "Don't laugh. At least it's paid for", and I have the same thought about my archaic kitchen, at least it's paid for. Speaking of old beat-up cars, I am driving a 16-year-old car and that doesn't bother me either. My car may be old but again, it's paid for and as far as I know it has nothing wrong with it so along with my Formica counters and my knotty-pine walls, I'm just keeping it. Maybe I should change my name to T-Rex!

I love your post so much, and for so many reasons. All I know is that if you wait long enough you’re going to notice everything coming back around again. Someday a younger person will decide that it’s more sensible to stick a phone on the wall rather than idiotically carrying it around everywhere. Who knew? People will be tired of granite and formica will be retrieved from some obscure dump and everyone will want it - the newest trend ever….and for goodness sake hang onto that knotty pine; repurposed timber of every kind is highly sought after. If anyone finds out you have a home brimming with it, look out. 🤫😃😂

Desiree, keep the house. Sell the jeep (keep the cheaper car) that would cover the cost of running the house for a year. Get a couple of roommates if you need. Don't sell the house now. I don't understand why they told you to do so, since one of the Ramsey rules is that you should not make major decisions within 6 months (preferably a year) after your dad passed. It's too early to make such decisions. You don't need to be in a rush. Take all the time you need

Frenchies are "born broken" largely in part to the amount inbreeding that has been done in order to keep the Frenchie traits which only creates more issues. Ms. Jade, the reason your vet requires your Rottie to be seen every 6 months for a renewal of the eye drops is to make sure the prescription does not need to be changed or if any thing additional needs to be done for him. It is also a part of maintaining the Veterinarian/Patient/Client relationship. Your vet is trying to provide you and your Rottie what we, in the veterinary field, call Best Medicine. :)

Vets are definitely scam operations. Dated a girl that got paid minimum wage to wand over dogs with a stimulator. She had no training or certification, the vets charged $1500 for the procedure. That clinic is the #1 rated in the state. Complete scam industry. Classic ‘you NEED us to offer X, so we’ll coax you into paying out the ass for YZ by saying you need that to’

For real. My human doctor makes me come in 2x a year for a prescription renewal because she wants to do bloodwork, check blood pressure, ask about symptom changes, etc. My cat's vet sees him every few months to check up on his diabetes (to make sure it's still in remission, quick check for free most times and a paid long term test once or twice a year) and asks if we want a scan every so often to make sure his cancer is still in remission.

I don’t like the advice they gave her. I understand she’s going through a rough time and unimaginable things, but at 21 you need to be making more money than that if you’re not going to school. I could be wrong but it also sounded like that jeep was way to expensive for her income (paid off or not), and goes against anything on wheels being less than 50% of your annual income. She would be much better off selling the jeep and keeping the bmw “that’s not worth very much.”

@@danieltik well, I guess she considers that small. Good for her that she considers it a small amount. She also said they've paid off about 2/3 of their house and have $290,000 remaining on the mortgage, which translates to roughly a $900,000 house. They must be relatively higher income earners. I don't see $500,000 as a large inheritance, either. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But hey, you do you. We're all in different circumstances.

Nate, women don’t move away to be closer with their boyfriends. Your relationship has run its course. Let her go stay get your accounting degree find a job and stay on your grind. If she loves you she will come back. Don’t chase her don’t propose don’t follow her. BTW you shouldn’t be getting married until your late 20’s early 30’s. People change a lot in their early 20’s. You may find that you and your girlfriend are not compatible in five years.
