"Someones gonna call you punk even if you're not." I like that attitude.
Its great to see Dee Dee lucid and intelligent, nothing like the moronic way he's usually portrayed. A great little piece of history.

YES. Both Dee Dee and Joey are often painted as dumb, but they were definitely not. Dee Dee was one of the best songwriters in the punk scene. He had his problems, but he wasn't a moron.

@@petermarsden4727 It's hardly fair to blame Marky. Dee Dee battled with drugs for years, he started well before the Ramones. It's hard work trying to function when an addict is part of the process, everyone who was involved with him was on his case to clean up and from time to time he did do.
The person between Joey and De De is Michael Mckenzie artist / photographer who introduced me to the Ramones and co-hosted several of my shows

The first few calls that were cut off for profanity and/or talking smack against the Ramones = the days before Twitter....the haters online, now, are the ones who called into shows like this back in the day, hoping to get their F***Y** in before being cut off!!! I meet Joey in the 90s and agree he acted like a regular guy. No ego and was generous with his time. He has to deal with strangers constantly approaching him and asking the same things over and over again but didn’t act that way. There’s not many people I admire but he’s one of them and I’m glad meeting him didn’t spoil it.

This video is a time capsule from the time the Ramones still walked among us.
Joey was hillarious in this one and Dee Dee he is so fucking hot and talented, so is Joey. RIP to them both and Johnny and Tommy as well, hey ho lets go !
I was born in 87 but this made me feel like I was living in 77. It really put me there. Never seen anything like it. Live TV show while smoking, drinking and cutting calls off? A guy who brings beers in a briefcase? All casually siting in regular chairs without following almost any protocol? Loved it all. Everything's so "take it or leave it" kinda of a deal. It is what it is. The Ramones, as everything that came to change the game and direction of things, did bother people a lot as happened with The Stones, The Beatles, and the early rock n roll movement in general. I feel that Dee Dee and Joey would always give a better interview than Johnny. They're more fun and relaxed. Loved the girl that called at 40:33. She was really into music. She knew about producers, labels, tours and record releases. This video is a gem. Thanks for uploading.
Wow, Aliece was spot on in calling the band to come and play Brazil. This is a little piece of RnR history!!
I am glad that you appreciated this video on the Ramones come back soon to see more video's from this time that we will be posting
It was a great show they were brilliant and I had a great time every time I was with Joey thanks for the comment
This might just be the best video on KZread! Dee Dee seemed to really want to answer everyone's questions, no matter how weird - very attentive guy. Putting all the effects on Joey when he was just awkwardly sipping on a beer was hilarious too.

Then you must've seen Stiv Bators hop on at the end! They were good friends back in the day...Sire stablemates, of course, and I believe Joey said earlier they were going down to CBGB's for the Dead Boys show that night. And, it was their Johnny Blitz for whom they were doing the benefit. Pretty cool.
Man, Arturo looks crazy awesome.
Just goes to show that even before the Internet, people would go out of their way to call someone gay. Nothing changed except for technology. Bravo to the Ramones for taking it in stride.
Damn, Joey's such a stud. 😍

Yeah Johnny was a dick about protecting their image. He was a necessary part of the group though, as he was the one that kept them in line and made sure they got paid. However, I think Dee Dee and Joey held their own here. I think this being a low-key interview helped a lot, as they weren't as nervous. Dee Dee especially shines here.

Rocket To Russia is my favorite Ramones Album. Cretin Hop is my favorite song. That album should of been triple gold man.

Look all those little girls calling for the Ramones. RIP Arturo
12:09 oh maaannnnn Joey's face...boy I'd like to slug that kid who called. Or give Joey a pat on the shoulder. I love the Ramones cos their music wasn't all sweet and cheery, but it was never hateful or negative. Just tough and good humored. Had to be if people were treating them like that. Man I wish I could give them a hug. However looks like they get a nice buzz on so it's ok.

Bless you for preserving and sharing this clip. What a fabulous time capsule. And what struck me watching, was how great the interactions were between you and the band, and the callers, especially the teens and young adults. PS I wish you could reupload your clip with Debbie and Chris of Blondie, from around the same period. Thank you!
