The Ramones - It's Alive 1977 - Complete Show!
Музыка
The complete show - well, at least the 26 minutes of film that survived. The legendary concert was held at the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park, London, on December 31st, 1977. Rock music doesn't get any better than this!!

How were they so good 🫠🫠🫠
In 1977 I was in the 2nd grade in a small school in East Germany and didn't know anything about punk rock. It wasn't until 7 years later that I fell in love with punk. Only in East Germany was it difficult to get hold of records. In the mid 80's I listened to a lot of Pistols and Clash. I first found out about the Ramones at the end of the 80s and was thrilled. After the wall came down I finally saw them at a festival in Nordheim. That was in 1993.😁

The guitar on last two songs on this set hits you like a freight train. Johnny's simply a superhuman at guitar. He was a man of commitment, focus and sheer f***ing will.

So amazing to think was 1977, the height of Disco and KISS and this was going on at the same time! The pace is absolutely INCREDIBLE and I never believed they actually went from song to song like that without editing but it's TRUE! They really DID play that fast, and amazingly good for thier speed and consistency. An amazing Epic machine of Punk emotion that rocked the world.

A rock photographer's dream band! Never broke out of a classic pose.
Saw them in 1977 in my little podunk town they filled in for the Rocket's who were supposed to open up for Toto. Less than 100 people showed up most were Rednecks throwing Beer at them. Even so they played for a solid non stop hour. Life has never been the same after seeing their explosive performance. Nothing fake nothing put on. Just the Ramones. May they all rest in peace.

I'm 53. I was 7 when this was recorded. I'm pissed I couldn't make it. But I don't think the kids today realize we have the coolest generation of old folks ever right now. Listen to what they have to say. It's inspiring at times.

You got that right! I'm the same age and I have a 6 year old son that is being subliminally (and not so) fed this and all the greats of the time.
We saw them in Dallas in '78, they tore it up in a small club........my fav that night, " It's a Long Way Back to Germany". I'm 71 years now and still get up to dance when I play them at home.
I saw 1996' Ramones tour in Porto Alegre RS Brasil. Its was so amazing. Ramones Forever ! RIP Ramones! Live Long Marky!
I was born in ‘93 and never got to see the Ramones (met CJ here in Houston thou during an acoustic set at Cactus a few years ago). In my opinion one of the best bands to ever walk this planet.

One of the best Rock N Roll records ever made , bought this back in the day when I was just a small kid with my holiday spending money , still play this all of the time, less is more, more or less, pure genius.
one of the greatest and hard working rock n roll bands to have ever existed - a shinning example the the great american work ethic long live the Ramones love you guys
There will only ever be one Ramones. Nobody was like them, and nobody will be like them in the future.
The Great Ramones were firing on all cylinders this night Rock on Ramones.
Undeniable power, speed and cool. So much f-ing cool!
Everyone loves The Ramones ❤
What an amazing footage, both visuals and sound! And yet so few likes...
I think the whole history of rock and roll, since Robert Johnson, ended with the departure of these guys, it's the super quintessential rock music. There were wonderful things but nothing like the Ramones. Thanks to their recorded music, every time I listen to them they make me feel more one than ever. How well they knew how to do it!
Has there ever been an American Punk group to even come close to the Ramones........... No sadly, these guys are true Legends

Knew a guy who saw them back in the day and I was surprised they only played a 30 minute set, but he said “You had to be there. It was perfect.” I get a sense of that watching this.
It will be 40 years ago tomorrow night that this was recorded. I didn't go to this concert, but was at the Roundhouse on July 4th 1976 for their first UK gig. I was really a Flamin' Groovies fan at the time. Possibly the hottest and sweatiest gig I've ever been to.

@@yawninghyaena Yeah, it's in one of the books, I can't remember which one as I've read a few. Johnny was really annoyed with the mix so wanted Dee Dee and himself to re-record their guitars. Dee Dee said he could barely keep up with the live version and needed numerous cups of coffee, not necessarily his drug of choice. There's even a clip in one song where he drops a pick, fishes one out from his pocket yet the bass magically continues to play!
Muchas gracias por subir este gran recuerdo, Ramones !!!

Dee Dee WAS the Ramones. It's heart and soul. He wrote most of their songs. Even after he quit the band they still relied on Dee Dee to give them songs for each new record.
This is what needed to happen back then. Too many rock bands were all ‘look at me playing an over extended guitar solo’ Well, we know you can play the guitar, how about going metal and show some energy and enthusiasm? These guys had it spades full. 🫶
Rsised in Forest Hills Qns attended FHHS. My childhood friends would listen to It's Alive till the needle bled, using tennis rackets, the sofa & pillows. Need I to go on Long live The Ramones.

I saw this version (the best version imo!) of The Ramones at Strathclyde University in ‘77, when the Talking Heads supported! That gig was insane!
Seems like a Ramon’s show would last like 22 minutes. And it’d be 22 minutes of the most kick a$s punk rock around! 🤘
Love all these uptempo Ramones songs and covers

Second greatest Boy Band of all time -after The Beatles, natch. 🤘😎🤘

I met them many times. They all lived in NYC and you'd see them shopping in the Village or St. Marks Place with their wives / girlfriends. Shaking Joey's hand --- feels like a small dead fish. LOL . But they would always sign an autograph ! The other GREAT thing was - even in 1980 / 82 when they were super popular - they would play SMALLER venues / clubs/ theaters !! We also would go see Rock N' Roll High School at midnight movie screenings !!
I saw them at about the same time at the University of Colorado's MU Glen Miller Ballroom. My lasting memory is the "1,2,3,4" that preceded each song!
Now this is rock and roll!
Os melhores!!

Ramones vive
True pleasure this! The way Joey sing - its like he tries to sing thru the nose and the same time have this bully tone. Just incredible. Even Lemmy was a big admire of Ramones. You can actually hear 2 songs on Sacrifice inspired by Ramones - the refrain in the title song and song nr. 2 on the record, which is less than 2 minutes. But... Where is the opening track Rockaway Beach and Teenage Lobotomy? Anyone knows why Tommy R replaced Marky R on this set?
