@@FarpointFarms Thanks Check out this electronics company (Lafayette) which was HQ'ed a couple towns away from me, it sounds like the 40 channel switch hurt them. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lafayette_Radio_Electronics "(FCC) expanded a new citizens band radio ("CB") spectrum to 40 channels in 1977. Lafayette's buyers had firm commitments to accept delivery of thousands of older design units capable of only 23 channels, and were not able to liquidate the inventory without taking a serious loss. Eventually, all of the old CB radios were sold for under $40."

I work this radio ( sold as the French CRT 7900V in Europe ) almost every day - it is seriously one of the best equiped mobile transceivers for that price. The digital NR filter in the latest mode works in 5 steps and is fully functional. I made DX contacts to the States with it so many times in the last weeks ( on 12W PEP, ch 38 LSB ) from the west coast of Europe, propagation is great at the moment. Greetings from Belgium, love your channel !

The cb was to prevent crashes with log trucks on mountain roads. I really never used the company radio. I did listen to it though. I would go to get water. Maybe a campground. Back in the day, even a radio peaked to 12 watts would bleed over onto nearby tv, telephone etc. you’d have to add major filters, and if you didn’t, you were the obnoxious one that the neighbors hated.

The RB button does not function as per the instructions. You can turn the RB-ON, by pressing and holding. But push again does not change the frequency. Turn on channel switch direction simply does not work. If you get to RB-ON, keying mike turns it back OFF. Instruction RB function 2. simply does not work.

Here is the correct sequence: Long press RB for 2 seconds. should display RB - ON Short press RB to turn RB function. should see RB at top right of display Short press channel selector. Should see OFF - 5. Turn channel selector dial to the right to cycle through 5 selections 1-5. Select a number. Press channel selector again to get out of select mode. You are ready. Press PTT to test. Do NOT press RB again or it will cancel your selection and turn RB OFF To change your selection, press channel selector again.

You can't go wrong with a 102!! There is a reason they are still sold.

Like it or not these export radios are the thing of the future and almost everyone I know has one where they use their ham radio to operate on 11 mm and I'm not sure that's even legal

I have to agree with you on this. The FCC moved too slow, and the users of the band moved on without them. It's not unlike the early 70's when people just said "NO" to getting a license. Eventually the FCC came around and admitted defeat. On a side note, many Ham operators are now skipping the license as well.

@FarpointFarms You're not kidding I don't know about you. But out here in California, if you're a construction guy, you're in a recession . Last year, I was lucky to get 890 hours. This year is shaping up to be the same.

echo and beeps just outright suck. when someone would cone on using it many would go someplace else or just turn off there radios for 30 miles.

There are a lot of Pirates on 10 meters! Just don’t get caught you can tell they are Pirates because no call signs.they Hog frequency’s with long rag chews, no call sign, etc. with all the money people are spending on CB would be easy for them to just get a ham license.. pick up some used equipment on flee bay! Just a thought! JohnBoyUtah 😎🇺🇸📡🎙

My understanding is that more and more Ham operators are not getting licensed. Much like CB in the mid 70s.
