She played that masterfully. She would never allow Charles to be with Camilla. She skillfully silenced any reasoned argument Charles had planned on making to his parents. Slay!

Diana knew that he never loved her but she still wanted to stay in pain with him. I don’t know why . And the fact Charles parent didn’t want to let him speak prove how they never care about their son feeling about this arrange marriage he never wanted

Maybe she thought that at that time it would be easy for her to be marginalized. After all, she was so young that she didn't know what she was doing or how the game was played. I think the hospital scene was when she realized she could play the great game.

People need to remember that this is nothing more than a script written by others. Nobody knows what was said or even if such a meeting took place. So let's keep it real.

But the show is inspired by real life events, though the writers do take artistic licence from it.

I believe that Diana really wanted the marriage to work. But she did not know how to be a good wife (Her parents and step-mother were terrible role models!) She also (most likely) had mental health issues with her bulimia being a symptom. Charles never really loved Diana. Maybe for a short time he had been infatuated or "in love"/"in lust" with her. Had he truly loved Diana he would have terminated the "friendship" with Camilla. Keeping contact with one's former lover is not the way to clear your mind for a new love. Diana wanted a man who was head over heels in love with her. I can not blame her! She was young and still believed in romance She probably had also read too many of her step-grandmother's (i.e. Barbara Cartland) novels. She was not Charles' educational equal (but nor was Camilla). Charles wasn't that old. But he was a bit of an old soul. He was also very set in his ways. She wasn't "old' like Charles. He was willing to "settle" to appease his family. What he did to Diana was horrible!

It seems that Diana was addicted to the stage where a man was head over heels in love with her. None of her relationships with men lasted very long.

He wasn’t willing to stop his cheating. He never was. He didn’t care about the country. He certainly didn’t care about Diana or his children. He was selfish and ultimately, a pig of a man. So now you silly twits have King Chuck and Prince Willy. And old soul. Don’t make me laugh. He was in rut. Still is for that matter.

Which Queen are you referring to? Queen Elizabeth ii was a Horrible soul. She didn't allow any of her children to marry of their own choice. Even her sister Margaret ( her only sibling ) was stopped from marrying Pete Townsend because, he was just a normal RED BLOODED EARTHLING.

In her generation, showing excessive emotions is frowned upon.

She was actually, but she was taught by her Grandmother to stifle her emotions. It wasn't the done thing to be overemotional in the UK anyway. Shows of emotion were met with disdain, embarrassment, or ridicule at all levels of society. Remember the unending rididicule of Paul Gascoigne when he cried in public? It was only the advent of TV talent shows and home makeover shows that normalised that sort of thing.

Perhaps it’s a credit to Josh O’Conner as an actor, but I find myself wishing I could strike him in every scene in which he depicts King Charles.

I want Diana's dress. I think this relationship is long over, it never should have started to begin with. And didn't Philip cheat on Elizabeth?? So why is he sitting there all high and mighty with a pretend frown on his face.

I know he was a prick but it must’ve been so emotionally crippling to know your parents really don’t give a flying f**k about your feelings and what you desire in life.. I think that’s why he wanted to be with Camilla, she kinda represented the mother he never had in a twisted way
