@@Ammiel7 Disagree, there were several others. If you eliminated Fucha, Jia, Yawan and the noble consort the rest were decent. Ruyi and Hailan we're not the only ones to pay the price for being decent.

是的，历史上乾隆超爱原配的。这也是继后和他没法好好相处的原因之一。乾隆在原配死了，如懿当皇后之后，还写过诗“断魂恰值清明节，饮恨难忘齐鲁游。 岂必新琴终不及，究输旧剑久相投。” 大概是讲又到清明节，想到原配当年死在他们去山东迅游的路上，并不是新皇后不够好，但是就是不如旧人情投意合。乾隆80岁的时候，他还写过“平生难尽述，百岁妄希延。夏日冬之夜，远期只廿年。”，意思是大多数人活不过100岁，我现在已经80了，最多还有20年就能下来陪你了。可以说非常感人了。这个剧把原配描写得那么坏，其实有违史实。

This title🙄. Also it just occurred to me that Perhaps Empress Dowager wants to lock Qinying up to make sure she isn’t able to rat her out for poisoning her Aunt.

Ruyi is asked about her aunt's death. She didn't tell them, do I don't think that was the reason. I think the dowager was trying to take control from the get go. Her son wanted to make it plain that he wasn't going to rely totally on her. It was a power play and Ruyi lost.

the title is a little click bait-y, the Empress Dowager kept her (Qingying, later Ruyi) in the old manor to mourn for her aunt for three years, as that was the tradition for when a member for the family dies; this is called filial mourning.
