I've never been able to quite describe the true American/Capitalism spirit as well as Arthur does. We can truly lift people up. Thank you for this and what you do. I set up recurring donations to the Doe fund after watching this.

Wonderful. This is a simple fact that many people in America know. Work has value. Working has value. This flies in the face of what the liberal politicians believe. What a wonderful message. This concept is exactly how I have lived my life. It is exactly how many people have lived their lives. Hard work, integrity, saving, working, working hard, responsibility... Yes, the secret of the real America.

Could you add english subtitles for local languages, danish, Spanish, etc. Feels like missing important perspective. Great documentary, watched earlier on Netflix and helped me build real perspective on conflicting topics.

Thanks, Arthur for this great documentary. I have to say, though that he map showing that Chile adopted free market after 1989 is incorrect: in Chile free market economy was adopted in the 70s after we defeated communism and as a result, we ended poverty.

The problem isn’t with capitalism or any ism for say, rather the problem lies in human society that is slowly abandoning morals, ethics and compassion. And this dilemma arises when human have pursued material benefits in all walks of life and forget divine authority as well as their being.

Given what we know about moral licensing, I’d say that the problem is that governments have been crowding out private intervention. People donated much more of their money to charity and social causes before governments became involved, and it becomes hard to give when you are taxed out of your income.

Then, my generation got lazy about helping our fellow man/woman and urbanized into big city self obsession. We said, "I'm too busy getting ahead in the rat race. Let the government become my brother's keeper!". The power brokers in government were all too happy to take over our responsibility for charity and civic improvement, and that's how we got "The Great Society" and "The War On Poverty". As government bureaucracies always do, ours made the counterproductive mess of it that we live with today. It took a "hand up" and turned it into a "hand out", making millions of Americans into self loathing government dependents. I don't have an easy solution, but the status quo is profoundly unacceptable.

I enjoyed this but not having English subtitles for the foreign language bits was a big oversight in my opinion.

What do you do for the homeless? I know you do HUGE breakfasts for people that have everything. Why not feed the poor? Help the people that NEED HELP

Give a man a fish he’s fed for a day, teach a man to fish he’s fed for life. That’s his point in the documentary, we can give hand outs but that’s not the be all end all of poverty and homelessness. He said it, yes the people on top obviously benefit from whatever but the form of economic development he advocates for helps not only the top but the bottom. That’s why the India segment was added and even talked about in the first place.

What video did you watch? This was about solving poverty and lifting people out of poverty, not creating 1%er's

Just excellent. Arthur absolutely gets it, and slices through the misguided and misinformed with truth.

The root cause of poverty in India and around the world even in US is due to capitalism. Individual accumulate wealth, political power and deprive other of equal opportunities.

The root cause of poverty is the natural world. All babies, all around the globe, are born without anything. The US didn’t steal from India, the people in the US figured out that markets were the way to producing wealth *before* people in India did.
