The Bill has flaws but its purpose is good. They should revise some parts so it has no loopholes. I hope a better version gets passed.

Respect is earned. Respect other people para i respect ka rin nila, if not than how can you expect that they will respect you?

many tend to forget that not everyone wants to make their sexuality public, anti-discrimination part of the sogie is nothing different from the previous laws that were already passed, the only thing we need to do is to remind everyone that all the laws apply to every single filipino that because of these classifications we forget that we are all filipinos and that we are all protected by the same rights, that we are all protected by the same constitution, that we all have the same rights. SOGIE bill is actually not needed, everything in the sogie bill is already in our law, what we need to do is educate our young people about proper behavior towards everyone through GMRC.

You're right. Technically, existing laws already cover the proposals on this bill. But this bill wasn't created as an "addition" to the existing. But more as a clarification and emphasis to the existing one. In reality, several groups (usually religious ones) would intentionally "distort" the meaning and definition of the existing law. Like how those protections would only apply to men and women, and therefore, it's still open season for discrimination and abuse to those "immoral in-betweeners". This bill explicitly and clearly defines protection for members of LGBTQ+ community, so that some hate groups won't be able to distort the definition of the law.

According to section 5A of the bill: "It shall be unlawful for any person, natural or juridical, to Promote and encourage stigma on the basis of SOGIE in the media, in educational textbooks, and other medium." First Phrases of Article III, Section 4 of the bill of rights: "No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression..." It looks more like this bill wants to take away peoples' rights Yes to equality, no to this nonsense

There's a limitation in freedom of speech. You can express what you believe but if nanghahamak kana or nanguuri ng tao para lang masabing tama ka. Ibang usapan na yun. Kung maka relihiyon mo ikaw, okay lang yun. Pero wag mo yan gamitin para lang iinvalidate ang isang tao or para mang discriminate ng isang tao.. Kaya nga may separation ang state and religion.

Hi Robin. I'm gay, and proud. But I agree with Noice on this one. Criminalizing opposition will be a violation to their freedom of speech. I may sound like someone suffering from internalized homophobia, but using the law to silence opposition is not the reasonable route to take. Any concept and idea should be open to criticism. What we can do, is use education, the media, and online influences to reason with the masses to get their support. If we'll make the LGBTQ+ community completely immune to criticism, then what makes us different from those religious zealots who silence their followers with their questions?

Hi Noice, what do you mean by “protest and they don’t want lgbtq+”? Do you mean a protest against the community as a whole, or a protest against specific members of the community who made criminal offenses and thus, deserving to be protested? One between the two scenarios is wrong to be clear. As for your other question, no. The Church and The State are two different sectors and must be treated separately. Hindi dapat mangialam ang simbahan sa mga batas na ipapasa ng Gobyerno dahil lamang taliwas ito sa kanilang “paniniwala.” Tandaan natin, ang mga batas ay based on facts. Ang simbahan ay based on beliefs. At ang diskriminasyon na nararanasan ng mga members ng LGBTQ community sa lipunan ay isang fact, katotohanan. Habang ang kasabihan na “kasalanan ang pagiging miyembro ng LGBTQ community” ay isa lamang paniniwala.

We have to arrive at this point because straight people just can't stop themselves from discriminating and abusing members of the LGBTQ+ community. So it's not our fault, it's your fault that you're too ignorant to recognize our rights. That your faith is too fragile, that it shatters at a mere sight of a flamboyant boy. That we, the LGBTQ+ community, had to suffer by either facing discrimination or hiding our identity, just so you'll feel "comfortable" and your beliefs "validated". Well, that's about to end soon.
