The Purpose of Cinema

Фильм және анимация

***
“We are all born with a certain package. We are who we are. Where we were born, who we were born as, how we were raised. We are kind of stuck inside that person, and the purpose of civilization and growth is to be able to reach out and empathize a little bit with other people, find out what makes them tick, what they care about. For me, the movies are like a machine that generates empathy. If it’s a great movie, it lets you understand a little bit more about what it’s like to be a different gender, a different race, a different age, a different economic class, a different nationality, a different profession, different hopes, aspirations, dreams and fears. It helps us to identify with the people who are sharing this journey with us. And that, to me, is the most noble thing that good movies can do and it’s a reason to encourage them and to support them and to go to them.”
Roger Ebert

I remember about 4 years ago, discovering your channel and watching what it is that you do and seeing this craft be perfected, that I started to realize that this form of story telling is something I love and wanted to learn. You are one of the best to do it bro, although you may not be aware of the effects your work has had on me, thank you for inspiring me to not only dive into the deep end and start editing, but to push myself everyday in being more creative and not settling for what's comfortable once I began it.

Cinema is a reflection of society and shows us the crude reality of society. It tells us about issues that we remained ignorant about. Similarly, it helps us socialize with people better. It teaches us the pros and cons of habits and various trends in our life. Cinema connects people, acts as a starter of a conversation. It enhances imagination and shows the entire world multiple perspectives and broaden our vision and thinking. Most importantly, it connects different cultures and introduces us to the various forms of art and adds unknown information and facts to our lives.

I'm from Argentina, and there's a movie called El secreto de sus ojos, it won an Oscar for best foreign film in 2010. In that movie there's a scene between two men and one of them talks to the other about Passion, what passion is, and that man says that " a guy can change everything in his life: he can change his face, his house, his family, his girlfriend, his religion and even a he can change his god, but there's one thing a guy can't change in his life, he can't change his passion" . I think that scene would have been very good in this video.
