It sounds perfect for a movie commentary and reaction. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock in a rom com. Of course it'll be great. But then that premise sounds a bit sketchy though aye... Luckily The Proposal really is a very heartwarming movie and we enjoyed it a lot!

Alternatively, it is also a move to a more feminine look, away form the hard and sharp edges of masculine dress and style as she accepts her place as a wife/girlfriend. (It could be both; she falls in love and acts like a woman, or to go with your side, she feels supported enough to lower her walls). :)

Bad at Everything That sounds like a backwards conservative interpretation. I think she was as feminine before as after (none of the stuff she wore on the beginning were masculine. The silhouettes, cuts and accessories were all very feminine). She was just less uptight and perfectionist after than before.

I really like their dynamic, and how... excellent a cold "bitch" power woman character is handled. She doesn't 180 into a different person, but she is scared of her traits being unlikeable, and pulls down some of her walls. So does he, but in a super different way. He quits using humor as a shield and deflecting, being direct and determined.

i like even in the opening scene when she is firing the guy, she didn't just can him for underperforming, she caught him out in a lie. sure the delivery was harsh but honestly?? why shouldn't she be with that kind of behavior. her treatment toward actually good workers is what's more problematic, and she grows in that regard by the end of the film. i agree that it's a very refreshing take on the "strict woman boss" archetype

I get why people call her a “witch”, but part of me says that it is a double standard because if males in her position acted like this, they would be immediately respected. No disrespecting your employees is wrong, but at least she does her job and helps keep the company running. I also love how she treats his family when they arrived. They already knew that she was rude and b**tchy so she did not need to change her attitude or pretend with them, so to speak. I like how genuinely thankful she was to them of letting her come despite not giving Andrew a choice. It is that gray area. She is not all bad which I respected. I know it was a 3 day weekend and you can’t fall for each other in 3 days, but they knew each other for 3 years so once both of their walls were down, I can buy them liking each other. And love that scene where he defends her to his father. He did not have to like her, but he respected her which I thought was huge. And the chemistry between them. Whew. No disrespect to Blake Livey (lively) and her partner(s). The chemistry made me buy these two as a couple.

I think it is how you carry yourself, honestly. I have had female bosses that are nice but when they give orders I never think that they are bitchy or bossy. I think some women because of having to work harder to prove yourself overcompensate in order to make it happen and that is the end result. But if you are confident in your abilities then people don't think negatively of you as a female boss.

And now I'm at a point where I want to be called Victoria, but everyone looks at me like I grew a second head if I say that & refuses to call me Victoria; to the point I've kinda given up~ *and* I still get the occasional a-hole that thinks it's funny to irritate me by calling me "Vickie" when I kindly tell them I dislike being called that. The one nickname that kinda makes me happy is my older sister started calling me "Toria" cause "it's the correct short version of Victoria" And seeing that irritate my extended family who constantly deadname my sister brings me a small joy^.^

There is a thing in my country where people have their own land and house and they also have quite big fences, so basically people have complete privacy, so sometimes you would not think about where you undress because you are basically alone and no one can see. In this situation, it was his private balcony and he had music/earphones, he did not hear his "wife" and his mother returned, he thought he was alone on that huge property, so he got undressed randomly... Swimming was mandatory at my junior high, but probably just because we lived so close to the ocean. Although, it could also be because there is a tradition of jumping off a certain bridge into a river and they wanted everyone to have basic swimming skills.

Random: Learning how to swim is part of the New Zealand curriculum. So we have to learn it at school. Because of that it was always strange to me when people in movies said they couldn’t swim because I always just assumed they were, possibly, homeschooled, or that they were trying to tell me something about that character such as A. They are uncoordinated or B.They are not very smart. It wasn’t till I went overseas at 14 that I realised some places don’t actually have to learn how to swim and honestly it still blows my mind a little. But I understand their are places not super near the ocean. It just still takes me a while to wrap my head around it.
