    Your back and forth technique with the roller is causing you to cut the screen. A firm, slow steady roll is more ideal and will also cause the spline to stretch forward; do not pull pn the spline.

    You can definetely stretch the spline to help with the roll. His problem was his technique he was trash. Had no idea what he was doing. Im a pro screener myself and this was painful to watch. Your suppose to pull the screen with the spline taunt then hit your good firm roll. Then repeat. Also using the metal roller didnt help with being that inexperienced. Hes as good as any random guy on there first day and there first screen

    Michael C. Palermo he is not a pro like you. If it’s painful why watch it. He never claimed he was a professional. It’s for people who have no idea to repair a screen. Maybe people who know this business and claim they are pro than make a video and teach us. I hate when someone does not have class to comment gracefully with some tact. When you make a video if you do how would you like people commenting like you. Be kind man!!

    The spline gets cut after it is rolled in, metal corners are way better. You don’t leave loose screen in the middle, a “pro” can get the right tension on the mesh. Push harder with the roller and lean on other hand while pulling the mesh towards you to get this tension. I have been around professional screen makers for over 20 years and you are no pro. You are worse that somebody who has been trained properly for 1 day.

    Yea im a pro screener myself and this was hard to watch. Especially for it to say the proper way to roll window screen. This was actually a video of exactly what you do not want to do.. I walk roofs and tackle 1500 sqft roofs a day alone. And for him to have that hard of a time with one petty window and have an assistant is just embarrassing...

    When you first roll in the new screen, use the rounded(convex) side of the roller, then concave side at the end... you give yourself extra material, this will eliminate those "oops" cuts.

    Tim Graham ok Tim point out some things so I can explain them simply to you don't just make blanket statements about my video give me some points so we can discuss them. As far as uninformed or unqualified I don't think there's a class you can take to get certified as a window re-screener. Again you seem to be missing the point of the video it's how to with tips and tricks for people who don't do this all the time, like for example making the wrinkle in the screen so you can make a mistake and not have to start over. Also if you dont like the way I make my videos you can make your own and post the link in the comments if I think it's good I will post a link in the description.

    JAked Again you are doing a good job. Don’t listen to him. He is miserable and angry at something. I am going to fix my window screen two of them tomorrow. The problem I had last time was the spline or rubber was hard to roll over screen. I think the guy at the store gave me a thicker spline and was hard to roll even for my son. It was not going easily in the groove. Tomorrow should I just take the frame and they can see the thickness of spline to use and size of mesh. Also maybe I should spray oil in the frame where mesh goes in. Also the roller has two sides and have to know which side or roller to use. I need one for pets cause I have two cats and a dog also scratches when window open. You absolutely did not do anything wrong and acted professionally. It’s easy for people to hide behind their keyboard and insult and criticize other people on KZread. I want to do a video on nails but need a good camera first. He’s probably a bully. 👏🏻👍🏻

    You said to leave some extra screen in case you cut into the screen and have to pull out more to redo. You said if you do that, it would leave enough for a couple of mistakes. If you don’t make any unwanted cuts, won’t that leave too much screen within the frame and it will look too loose....?

  • @JAkedAgain

    @JAkedAgain

    4 жыл бұрын

    Spread out over the entire area of the screen you wont notice it. If you think you can do it without mistakes go for it but i think one little wrinkle in the finished product is better then 2 or 3 attempt at the whole thing.

    I used a two sided metal one that was large on one side and small on the other. I would recommend buying a small one with a plastic head, it will work almost as well as a large one and with a plastic head it will be a lot harder to damage the screen.

    I used an x-acto knife rested on the frame with the blade pointed our and just ran the it along the frame- no risk of cutting any screen. I did cut the screen on my first one and that is why I switched. I will also say that I took some double sided tape and slipped it between the screen and the frame on the small cut I made. I think your instructions are excellent!

    You are using the wrong side of your roller! I use clothes pins to clip the screen along the edges..now, run the round side of your spline roller into the groove, pushing your screen into the groove..making sure your screen hole align up with the inside of your frame. Now take the Concave side and insert the tip end of spline in the corner and line up your spline to the opposite corner...now rollthe spline into your groove, when you get to a corner, tuck and round and start again, making sure your spline is in a line with the grove and roll it in. When you come to the end. Pull just a bit and cut the spline so it will fit next to the beginning. If it is a little short..fine if more than 1/2 in cut a a bit of spline and insert and roll in place. Slowly go around once again to make sure the spline is inset in the grove. Ise a box knife an d carefully let the spline glide the box cutter along the edge .trim up corners.. Yes, making sure you installed the screen lift plates
