'The Prom' Stars Talk Coming Outs, Chosen Family, & Fave Movie Moments

In Ryan Murphy's film adaption of Broadway musical "The Prom", Jo Ellen Pellman and Ariana DeBose play high school girlfriends, Emma and Alyssa, who fight against all the odds to be together in their small Indiana town.
In our interview, the two actresses share their thoughts on what the film means to them as LGBTQ+ women, the power in finding your own chosen family, and their favorite memories of working with Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden, Kerry Washington, Keegan Michael Key, Andrew Rannels, and more in this star-studded cast.
"The Prom" premieres December 11th on Netflix.

When I came out to my little sister she started bawling and said the same thing. “You’re going to have a hard life.” She also said “please don’t tell mom and dad...they will never love you again.” Years later I eventually did tell them and my little sister has been my number one champion. When I came out on Facebook she was the only family member that commented something positive. And then when she found the book “Gay Girl Good God” (a book about how to get in a straight relationship) at my parents house she threw it away. I love her so much. ❤️

The movie was awesome. These two ladies were exceptional. Can't wait to see Ariana DeBose in West Side Story.
