Solid rear axles? I was just wondering who still uses this old technology. No disrespect intended. They’re cheap, easy to make and durable. I wouldn’t jump into electric vehicles either. The batteries are unreliable in the cold.

Well presented content, coming from an engineering background myself and motorsport I understand these are light duty axles . Not keen on the sun assemblies being thrown around damaging machined surfaces and quite surprised the drive flange wasn’t spliced / splined to take the load off the weld . Interesting video anyway.👍

Yes, it would be more efficient to have a cart ready near the worker's station to place each part, rather than have to bring a cart around, load it up off of the floor then drag it to the next workstation. A really efficient factory would have carts on rails that would stop at each station until the worker pressed a "go" button moving it to the next worker.

The back is not an access cover. This type of rearend is serviced by removing the whole center section from the front.

It's gotta be done, but production line jobs are a horror for the workers. Can you imagine moving widget A to position B over and over all day every day? When you look at their faces and demeanor it makes me think - what an indictment of the communist system. No smiles or interaction with their coworkers. These don't look like high quality parts, either.

Wenn ich solche Werkstätten sehe, dann frage ich mich immer: "Muss dass dort immer so dreckig sein?" Ja, es ist schon ein schmutziger Produktionsprozess. Aber der Dreck der dort überall klebt ist mindesten schon seit Monaten da. Was hindert die Leute daran, zu Schluss der Arbeit, die Maschinen und die Halle kurz zu säubern. Auch dass die gerade produzierten Teile achtlos auf den Boden oder auf irgendeinen Haufen geworfen werden, zeigt, dass die Arbeitnehmer sich überhaupt nicht mit ihrem produzierten Produkt identifizieren. Da ist es nicht verwunderlich, wenn die Qualität auf der Streck bleibt. Grundsätzlich zeigt das aber auch, welche Einstellung die führenden Leute oder die Eigentümer zu ihrer Belegschaft und zu ihrem Produkt haben. Irgendwie erschreckend.

Seems to be part of the QC process: If it still rotates reasonably well after all that tossing around, then it passes inspection.
Why the heck did they weld the access cap closed on the differential case? Was this so it can't be rebuild or inspected after manufacturing?

The back is not an access cover. This type of rearend is serviced by removing the whole center section from the front.

The diff unit is drawn out like ordinary rear axles . Cast rear axles like Dana have covers

It's gotta be done, but production line jobs are a horror for the workers. Can you imagine moving widget A to position B over and over all day every day? When you look at their faces and demeanor it makes me think - what an indictment of the communist system. No smiles or interaction with their coworkers. These don't look like high quality parts, either.

Wenn ich solche Werkstätten sehe, dann frage ich mich immer: "Muss dass dort immer so dreckig sein?" Ja, es ist schon ein schmutziger Produktionsprozess. Aber der Dreck der dort überall klebt ist mindesten schon seit Monaten da. Was hindert die Leute daran, zu Schluss der Arbeit, die Maschinen und die Halle kurz zu säubern. Auch dass die gerade produzierten Teile achtlos auf den Boden oder auf irgendeinen Haufen geworfen werden, zeigt, dass die Arbeitnehmer sich überhaupt nicht mit ihrem produzierten Produkt identifizieren. Da ist es nicht verwunderlich, wenn die Qualität auf der Streck bleibt. Grundsätzlich zeigt das aber auch, welche Einstellung die führenden Leute oder die Eigentümer zu ihrer Belegschaft und zu ihrem Produkt haben. Irgendwie erschreckend.

True but it's not as bad as the production shops in India where the workers are wearing open toe sandals, and no protective clothing at all while working on dirt floors.
