I've seen DJs with Ddj 1000s and they have no idea what they doing. Expensive equipment does not make you a good DJ . Experience does. The fact that you don't need external power and get full sized CDJ jog size wheels is a huge thing. I purchased this unit and have done events and it performs flawlessly.( 15 plus year DJ)

Bro I’ve seen so many bad reviews of this controller! I’ll say this now, I’ve been Dj’n since the 90’s and these fools slandering this are literally the definition of software DJs! If you can select tracks and mix them in then it’s good! These guys want everything included in one fucking machine! You can absolutely smash a set on these!

I've tried this product it's more like a bedroom controller entry level and build quality ain't the best lots of corners cut.

I mean, for a beginner like me that wants to do something with this one day, I'm enjoying my FLX6, lol.

I like mine too, and it comes with Serato pro, P’n’T and the FX pack. And I can use Rekordbox too if I want. It costs too much, should be $500.

Very good intermediate the flx6 ur a fake purist I learned to blend when u weren’t even a thought yet.I can testify this is a full fledged controller maybe not for the club cuz of lack of imports but it’s gimmicky yes but your just hating .I got a new most hated dj or why are u using cdjs still “bruh” it’s called layering u dork

I have owned so close to EVERYTHING pioneer has ever sold....seriously. From cdj-2000, 1000, 800, 800mk2, 900 nexus, 900, 850, 400 DJM 800, 900, 900srt, 600,500, 450, 250mk2... DDJ-SB2, DDJ-SB3, DDJ_RB, DDJ-RX, DDJ 1000, DDJ-400, DDJ-RZ, DDJ_SZ, XDJ-RX, XDJ-RR, DDJ-SR, DDJ-RZX I now still own the DDJ-RZX (LOVEIT) and I bought a used FLX6 for 3 bills to dj my mountain raves that get dirty..... All I want is 4 channels and LARGE jog wheels so this does it for me I use the channels 3 and 4 to ALWAYS have my scratch samples ready instead of having to load them over and over every time I want to scratch Forget about the Merge FX knob if you dont like any of the FX options, and who cares about the jog cutter. If you act like they are not there its better than the DDJ-400 which seems to be popular for its "Club Style Layout" All things considered there is a market for these even for the people that dont need the extra gimmicks it offers..... 4 channels and a Large platter is a good thing I have dj'd for 26 years so I started on vinyl and now I like to buy units used just to test them out and sell them without losing money its quite a learning experience having tried nearly all of them.....I actually do it with every brand of dj gear I have owned nearly everything available to this date.(other than the real cheap brands I could care less about numark or american dj or hercules lmao

I totally understand the frustration of not having XLR outputs but you can get an RCA to XLR cable or you can get two DI boxes

Or you can use Seratos new feature to use your computers sound out. Running a controllers audio thru a good audio interface will sound better than any controllers built in sound card. I’m running my FLX6 audio thru an Apogee interface.

Debunking your comment at 7:50 about the RCA cable. The DM40 monitor accepts the RCA pair at one end, and has a separate connection to the other speaker. These speakers come in pairs. No RCA cable was “ruined” in that shot.

It’s for House Party DJs who want full size jog wheels, a la CDJs, with a similar layout. You use this for standalone in smaller gigs w Rekordbox DJ, then take your usb sticks, w files already prepped to the major clubs

I've been on the ddj-400 for the past 2 years, I just wanted a 4 Chanel controler, I don't have the money to buy a dj-1000, i'm having a lot of fun with the flx, i think this controler is for the biginers who wants something more, and do some parties at friend's house for example.

I aint gonna lie barr even when i was entry level dj i did not believe in fake scratching, and i did not have $600 to buy a controller, and i still agree today even though i have been djing for almost 5yr.

It would have been nice if they would have put xlr outputs on it. I don't think most beginners would spend $600, when they can get a good entry level controller for half the price. I think the price is what ruins it. If this was around $400, it would make sense.

im from australia and here a ddj 400 cost $400 and a ddj flx6 costs $650. for that extra $250 your getting 4 channels, full size jog wheels, rekordbox pro and a few extra features on the decks to play around with. I'd say its worth the extra couple of hundred

that one knob was there on ddj-sb controllers for long time ago, and when ddj-sbs were released the one knob instead of three knobs for each of three serato effects (like on ddj-sr or ddj-sx) was a reminder that you have cheapest controller in product line. But now they made that one knob bigger and flashy and say that this is a uniq feature of this controller, wow, what a miracle. They really believe that we are stupid

I dont get why ppl say this isnt for gigs.. Youre not gonna go into a club and replace their setup if youre traveling anyways.. You'll just plug into their mixer.. Youre paying for digital controls and software.. And yea 200 more for no led deck position indicator or 4 channels? No more like 600-700 or double the price for the 1000..personally I think its a good deal.. Yea you could go on marketplace and find a good deal.. And who uses four channels? Um.. Djs who experiment and make interesting mixes or cue up quick mix tracks.. I can outmix most djs on a mixtrack with 4 virtual decks.. Stop hating.. The FLX6 is basically a 4-channel DDJ 400 with some new features. I'm not purist and a techie, so I do like the new scratch tech.

I felt it when you said they have too many low-level controllers...definitely derailed me a bit when I was buying my first controller... i went DDJ SR2 and i am happy with it. But I am the market they were targetting...someone who can.learn DJING QUICKER than most... given my music experience.

Pioneer designed it for home use not professional. It is for the mid range market to people who can't afford anything higher than this model and don't want to use the ddj 400 due to the size, it is built to a budget so obviously it won't be as robust as professional standard equipment and isn't designed to be taken out to clubs and venues.

I'm one of the people that use four channels, and I would say that any DJ that plays clubs more than functions is way more likely to use four channels because of the difference in crowd.

The flx6 is dope for the bedroom, it's really not that bad. 1 pro posts about not liking it and everyone jumps on the bandwagon. If you work hard enough you can rock any deck, whether you have a flx6, ddj... whatever..

I was almost about to buy one bc I want a decent size controller for weddings. But when you mentioned the lack of XLR outputs, I went and bought a DDJ SR2 controller. Thank you

Easy fix. I have a Pyle mixer with a 3 channel XLR output including sub. Paid 75 bucks for it.

I bought one, hear me out: I'm a 90's TT DJ coming from sb3 just to stream. But I like to scratch and don't want to spend 1K+ and like the big jog wheels and the scratch bank. The other effects I'll never use as I just mix and "real" scratch. 100% not taking to gigs and booth I'll use at home for parties. I will get the 1000 to do gigs. No I don't need 4 channels but I like the Batman colors also lol

Also gonna pick one up soon. I have a DDJ-400 and have found that 4-channels is essential for me, and the 1000 is just too far out of reach for my budget.

The reason why you only see the RCAs going to one speaker is that the DM-40 seen in the video has both Left & Right RCA cables to the one speaker and there is a speaker wire from one to the other as all the amplification hardware and input connectors are in one speaker.

Also remember... Numark released 2 controllers this year that are targeted towards beginners. So did Hercules. Why not Pioneer?

DDJ-800 is coming down in price. 4 Channel isn't always needed

My car has 20 ft RCA cables and they sound wonderful..... I've ran RCA cables inside of walls before wireless things were a thing no issues... I've ran my mixer off super long RCA cables and had no issues.

your incorrect about your statement regarding rca cable length. rca cables 20' long are routinely used in pro car audio setups. just need quality cables. same with 1/4" or xlr, quality counts. we also use 1/4" to rca adapters in the studio, so can use all your longer 1/4" cables, for the odd gear that has rca inputs or outputs. But in my opinion, i do agree with you that all mid to upper grade gear should have balanced 1/4" and xlr connectors.

The 100srt is the evolution of the sx range tbh honest the standalone model xdj-xz is the evolution of the sz

Yeah. I do not get the point of putting out this controller. Especially since it does not have 1/4 inch or XLR connectors at that price point. I would suggest getting RCA to female XLR cables and run from there. Thats what I do on my entry level units when I’m doing a quick set with my singer. But for big events, hell no! Platter size is not everything. Now I can always dig 4 channels. Saves me from having to bring a mixing board. I have the SX3. I think it’s way better than the SRT 1000!

I got the DDJ-800 for $700 brand-new and shipped from Pro Audio Gear. I only wish it had another USB port but the price for the DDJ-800 was going below $700 and is far better than the FLX6. However I may get the DDJ-1000 just to have it. but the 800 is solid just solid. I like your channel my man you read my mind about this controller

I have a xdj-r1 retired and a DDJ800, which is for me, the best compromise size/function/look. I love it!

ngl I'm kinda flabbergasted at folks who don't use 4 channels.

The denon mc4000 is one of the best beginner controller in the market and is less expensive then the FLX6 and it has XLR and 2 separate mics only bad thing is that it gives a distorted sound.

It's absolutely a toy. I think that's why they left the XLRs off of it, because they know it's a toy.

It’s has RCA because it’s powered by the USB you can have both on a controller. I use this controller at clubs all the time. It’s a great controller for $649.99 GT version.

Well if you have an M1 MBP like I do, it works on it. Plug&Play, NO proprietary drivers needed. I honestly believe it's a feeler controller in regards to ARM SoC.

I have the ddj400 and ddj1000 , I use the 400 for backyard boogies and small gigs(I use it as part of my compact dj set up) and the ddj1000 for Weddings and Quinces (bigger budget gigs)

For me of Pioneer said this was a bedroom kit for fro steaming maybe I would understand and it would make more sense. It feels like they are going full Apple iPod at this point and throwing out tons of options that essentially do the same thing, over saturating their own market. Totally agree with you, they should make one controller for each system and you can choose at checkout which one you want. Hopefully they figure out what they are doing or Numark gets the Ns7iv out to market soon, either way.

I wanted one, how do you know that no one wants one. I like scractching so want big jog wheels but don’t want to spent over a thousand, so this controller is perfect. Its also perfect for the bedroom DJ who wants four channels for under $1000. I think you dont know what your talking about. Stop putting people off a good controller, its well worth the money. all old school house music dj's are 3 or 4 deck people. Carl Cox, John Digweed, Chuck Roberts, Terry Hunter, Frankie Knuckles, Sasha. Hell just go put on a history of dance music or house music documentary on and you basically start drowning in house music pioneers (no pun intended) that wouldn't dream of mixing on anything less than 4 decks. And we haven't even started talking about newer guys like Laidback Luke.

Been following you for a few. I thought you knew that NO ACTUAL DJ has an issue with technology (2 SL 1200s are what exactly). Its the ability to trick people into thinking you have actual skill. Quick Story: I Dj'd the 2019 My Adidas Party (6 Djs & 2000). For convenience I used the SB3 when EVERY OTHER DJ on that stage saw what I brought they said a collective "he'll no". I pushed a pad scratch button and they were passed (they felt I disrespected their years of hard work of learning). Once they saw that I killed every cut without Jazzy Jeff's help they all saluted. The crowd would be fooled either way, but are we Djs or scam artists?

This is DEF it for my 11 year old daughter. Agree with the 4 channels, I just want her to learn on full size platters without spending 1500 on a back ordered 1000srt

Nice vid Barr! Also most of the controls and performance pads on this controller are catered more to Rekordbox so not the best if you’re getting it for Serato.

The flx6 is dope. Built stronger , design is simple and clean. Jog wheels are big, smooth and perfect for beginners. Easy set up, better sound.

Personally i think its a great price for a 4 channel controller bcs at a certain point you out grow your beginner controller and this is a good in between step before splurging 1000s of £

I honestly think that we need open standards for DJ controllers so they can work with different software out of the box. Plug and play, as we say

People don’t learn how to scratch because of this bs, they are to lazy and technically is making us lazy. If you think it’s a good thing that technically is making the job easier especially for this type of artistry then your losing the whole fundamentals of this craft, but what ever floats your boat huh.

It's all about the marketing. I think this would still be for the home and novice DJ. This is clearly for consumers with basic needs and easy usage. Its about the numbers...

They can't scale back the number of units because of the different software. The only way to scale back hardware would be for all of the manufacturers (Pioneer, Denon, Numark, Herk, Etc.) would need to be 100% software compatible. It will never happen. The day a Denon controller can control Rekordbox is the day that Pioneer DJ loses the market majority.

The controller is 100% entry level. Not for me - but I can see a market for the controller. Mostly moms and dads buying a gift for their kids. You should do a video on what's a Real DJ vs. Fake DJ. I remember when people fist started using their Laptop to DJ - they were called fake DJs. Today they're called Real DJs?

I just tried it and sent it back my final review is its not worth the money if it was 400 i wouldent have a problem with it but $600!? all they really had to do was put balanced outputs and it would have been so much better if you still think you want it I just suggest you watch multiple review before doing so I reccomend the numark nv ii if your lucky you can find them for 500 serato only tho

Ddj-flx6 cuts out and turn on again when using echo or playing for around half an hour on rekord box and serato

I wish we had a Rekordbox counterpart version of the SR2. The DDJ800 is closest thing but $200 more

the jog wheel touch response is horrible from my personal experience with the FLX6. Works maybe 15% of the time when I want it to work...

Honestly this controller looks cool and me not being a scratch DJ and more of a dubstep DJ, I feel like this would work but in this probably should’ve been $400, 50 more than the ddj-400 because in a nutshell, it’s basically a 4 channel ddj-400

I also agree that the DDJ-FLX6 looks like a toy for a bedroom hobbits, but if you are gonna spend around $600 for this controller might as well save up for the DDJ-800 . Or spend less for a DDj-400 and learn the basics of mixing. My input would be Improve the already existing controllers, for example I would love to see a DDJ-1000 or 800 with both rekordbox and Serato, plus adding a few more fx.

I was about to buy this to upgrade from my denon mc 7000 but when I REALIZED that it had freaking RCA inputs i instantly closed the tab I hate this. It looks great but works shit. U got the cdj jog but no tension change damn this is sad.

I don't really get the whining (minus the price.) It's a controller aimed at a different demographic. Seems pretty good for a bedroom DJ.
