I don't know weather I'm just being very short minded but surely adding a barrier to the back of the bus like a train station and you need to tap in your oyster card to open the barriers and you can walk up stairs. Of course there'd be a lot of pros and cons to that and it'd cost a lot of money but surely it's wasting money to earn it back later because the amount of money the buses are losing because of that design flaw is ridiculous

Yes Jack...the design has a lot to do with what is happening on these boris-buses regarding 'fare evasion'. I'm hoping we can keep these NBFL buses for many years to come if we can reduce the 'fare evasion situation'...!!! 🤔💭

Barriers on the last door would probably be a good solution but I can see it backing up pretty badly with crowds and kids.

@@Jack-ii8vi Should probably just remove the back doors and wall it up, still a fully functioning bus and the middle door readers work as well as normal buses. Overall the bus design is better than ones before to ride, but it's just not economical.

When I was in London visiting in November last year I got on the Number 12 from Westminster to Oxford Circus and we got on at the rear of the borris bus and it still worked

I can remember that Lothian Buses had a boris bus from Go Ahead London at the 2014 open day. I can still remember the number and that is LT 129. I have to admit that love the design of them too.

Cool video showcasing the Borismasters! I think that buses with bigger windows (eg. E400, Gemini 2) should be installed with tinted front windows in order to reduce sun glare.

There are more reviews for this bus that I have done. This was a random review that I did in September.

Epic video as always Anton. It bad people evade the bus fares, they try it where I live too & the buses only have 1 door. I always say hi to the bus driver & ask how they are & I say thank you to them & give them a biscuit bar too as I'm getting off the bus. I know some of the bus drivers round my way & we have a bit of banter & it makes them laugh. Hope you have a great day today. Can you say hi to Chris for me please. 😀🚌👋🏻😊

@@kelvinbremont1341 And to be honest all the new buses are pretty crap the good old Routemasters atlantians Olympians Alx 400sand the presidents are the best in my opinion.

One thing that I noticed about the enviro buses is that when it's warm outside they can be like an oven ( that's why I sit at the back ) and the new buses where I live have double deckers which are the same make and model but they are much cooler in summer as the air con works and I'm getting a bus at 10.37 and when ever I get on I always smile and say good morning driver and when I get off at the other end I smile and say thank you driver enjoy the rest of your day

Great video Anton and very informative and the borisbus has its good and bad things like everything in the world. Also good to see the sun and your doing Chris’ route and are you allowed to show route numbers now?

DoubleDeckerAnton That’s good your careful and showing route numbers and destinations shouldn’t go against the policy as routes change companies and also the borisbus is a popular tourist icon so good your showing as much as possible and they wouldn’t be interested in companies so it doesn’t matter if your not allowed.

@@BusDriverLife I usually let em get a free ride once, then if they become a repeat offender start using those Chevroleggs. Battles are chosen wisely, I could careless about the bus, that said, I don't want to get spit on, stabbed or shot. Safety first and gotta know when to let it go. I will say it's much easier to let em ride free, makes my job much easier.

There should be more ticket inspectors on the three door buses if you ask me here in Dublin we have a tram system called the Luas and since the driver cant stop you not everyone likes paying on it however there are lots of ticket inspectors on it. Also what do you think the current issues surrounding Wrightbus the maker of these buses.

It's sad what's happened to Wrightbus. The industry is changing fast and manufacturers need to be 'on top of their game'. Its survival of the fittest or the ones that adapt to their ever changing surroundings in this tough industry!

I don't mind the New Routemasters that much, for me I have taken many photographs of them (this year I've managed to get photos of the first two operated by Arriva) along with most of the ones that the company you work for have got; although I'm still after a photo of the very last one that entered into service around 2 years ago on Route 267

I do like these busses. Never thaught about the upper deck windows though now it makes allot of sense vs e400s. Would like love to drive one but sadly don't think I will ever get the chance. I do wonder how popular a 1 door version of this bus would be maybe retaining the rear door as a form or emergency exit , I'm sure hants and Dorset trim could work some magic there.

I heard that route 19 is gonna get these buses saw 4 yesterday and 1 today all off the NB4Ls will be from the route 48

It might be a drain for the upper deck floor when water drains out!

Nice video mate!😃I’ve seen people get on through the back doors on regular buses e.g. E400s, just so that they don’t have to pay but some drivers just let them on and don’t bother and I find this stupid as £1.50 isn’t that much

Could there be 2 Oyster card machines on the front doors and only have front door entrance and turnpike type of machine on the other 2 doors for Exit Only.

TFL have a ongoing campaign on these route masters which is adding a new door button so only the middle door and front door open and the old button opens the back door instead of 1 button opening all 3 doors

What are your thoughts on the Wright Streetdecks? Probably my favourite bus ever, the new route master being the second.

Which Enviro busses do you use? Here we use Enviro 500 and Enviro 500 MMC or "Go Anywhere Edition" busses, they do have pretty large windows, but sun isn't as bad. Ours are tri-axle design, 1 in front, 2 in rear. They are quite cosy, but the air is kind of stale. I took a picture today of black soot that came from the AC vent holes, I hope you don't get that on your Enviro's

Yes, and it fails so much they ended up putting in opening windows (which when it does work, defeats the object of AC!). Not sure the driver can control it though.

@@choppapop2027 no, they just never regas them so it never works. TfL don't specifically require air con but the majority of older deckers have a bad (required by TfL) air cooling system which is quite frankly not fit for purpose.

@@ce9934 this is why company's dont have drivers saving cost left right centre drove the street lights when they were brand new air con fantastic 12 weeks later all disconnected to save dough and that was the answer from the unite union not naming which company as it's not fair to say but in the summer it was like a greenhouse on wheels. Best bus on planet for driver enviros and gemini top notch and guess what with working aircons cant beat the old busses and not forgetting the Dennis.

I think that something adapted to NYC's Select Bus Service would be articulated buses but European designed (European buses have much wider doors) and with 4 doors as most EU articulated buses are available in both 3 and 4 doors configurations.

Sad to see the manufacturer of the NBFL, Wrightbus has gone into administration. Anway, just sitting here thinking, it'd be cool if you could get a chance to drive other kinds of buses from manufacturers the way the car You Tubers do on their channels. Say an invite from ADL, Optare or whoever. Keep uo the good work, enjoying the channel 👍👍👍

Every TfL bus has one, so I'm sure it just feels like the norm now. This has a pretty big cab too, compared to some other buses.

£1.50 for unlimited buses (and Croydon Tramlink) for one hour (70 minutes actually apparently) is extremely good value for money. Where I live it’s £3.20 for a single from my house to the hospital for work! A 30/40 minute journey!

A blind is interchangeable, it will only show the routes covered from that depot

I like the new Routemasters

The biggest thing I hated was you could only open all the doors, you can close them individually but when you needed to open the doors, one button opened all 3 at once. Not ideal when no one wants to get off and only letting people board. It's a small niggle but I hated that.

My favourite bus is Wright Pulsar 2

I've always thought the middle door and front stair case was pointless on these busses

Anton they need someone on the buses to stand and watch people pay when they get on, remember they had conductors?

DoubleDeckerAnton This’ll probably sound stupid, but do you think fare evasion would be reduced if either the driver or a conductor sitting at the back of the bus sold tickets, like a single journey ticket, return ticket or a day ticket, that was valid on all modes, accepting payment with cash and cards, and there were ticket stampers by each set of doors for people who had bought tickets from newsagents, supermarkets, machines, kiosks, etc.?

The ‘Front door only’ payments start on route 8, will spread to other routes like a virus

They wouldn't lose so much money if they brought back conductor's to ensure everyone has paid once on the bus plus it'll open up more jobs #Bringbackbusconductors

TFL need to clear out a £100 million debt firstly hence why pretty much all the bus routes have seen a curtailment and a decrease in frequency to save them money

Yeah, but unfortunately, as somebody who drove London buses in the 90s after growing up in the 70s and 80s with conductors on London buses I have seen it go from there to 'pay driver' buses that soon needed to be fitted with assault screens and alarms. I don't think we as a society can be trusted to follow a very simple instruction such as 'Please refrain from beating the sh*t out of the conductor' Until driver assault screens are no longer justified due to a more enlightened public (don't hold your breath), they and the employment of conductors are mutually exclusive.

My issues were narrow passageway on ground floor on rush hour, the rear stare case was to steep, leg room and shape of bulkhead front upside was uncomfortable on my legs, the seats were to hard, door buzzers, whole bus was a failure, whole idea of it was to reduce operational costs, being a hybrid, for me the passenger, a very bad design, quicker they are off the road, the better.

You love to ramble on about people not paying :P What's your opinion on multi door boarding systems in other countries? I've not seen many actually fare evading in other countries with a similar system in place, and it's upsetting that people in Britain do continue, as I mean tbh having more doors is a benefit to them (faster loading times), and they're abusing it.

New route masters are getting withdrawn slowly from 2019,2020,2021 all route masters should be withdrawn

Yes, majority of people don't pay or touch on. As an Australian bus driver myself, I see it far too often... Got to a position where I try not to care. Yes,I got assaulted.. yes also verbally abused... Yes bus had its windows smashed and graffitied on.... It's a tough gig... Take care Antonio.... I know it irritates you and me when people don't pay....also when young teenagers graffiti the bus in front of you! But your safety is more important than anything else!

They should just block off the rear doors and keep the middle doors and oyster machine and keep front door

Pay a clippy to be on the bus and that would stop the fare evasion

so boris wants these buses on the roads, the borisbuses are becoming like the bendy buses were people avoid taping their oyster card

The 48 route got withdrawn,the new route masters on the 48 got withdrawn 2019 and the 67 new route masters are getting withdrawn by 2020

What I don't like is that there are no grab handles!

This. When I've hopped on a Boris bus without touching in, that is why, though I normally board up front now. When I tried to board a non-Boris bus through the middle doors the driver threw a hissy. :)

They are making more electric buses and smarthybrids for london now and the enviro400h hybrid and mmchybrids and Borismaster will be withdrawn in 2019,2020,2021,2022 because TFL are starting ordering electric buses and smart hybrids which will be part of london now
