The Private Stock John McLaughlin Limited Edition | PRS Guitars
Музыка
Introducing the Private Stock John McLaughlin Limited Edition - a 200 piece run of instruments meticulously spec’d by Paul Reed Smith to honor John McLaughlin. All of the woods were specially chosen by Paul for their tone, figure, and weight. Paul Reed Smith and Paul Miles have signed each Private Stock John McLaughlin model on the back of the headstock. As an added detail, John McLaughlin has autographed the backplate of each instrument.
“Being John’s guitar maker is an honor I fought decades for, and to now be able to give him a signature model is a special moment for me and hopefully the industry. These guitars were designed to both feel like magic when you pick them up but also disappear in your hands so you can just focus on playing. John is capable of playing at extraordinary speed and with this instrument, you hear every note. Finding that balance as a guitar maker and coaxing every bit of sound out of the guitar was the key.” - Paul Reed Smith

John McLaughlin is huge guitar and music legend!!! But if you're here you already know it.
Hopefully some people realized John was intentionally playing quite basically, in order to showcase the guitar and not himself. That’s class.

I still have Mahavishnu's Birds of Fire in original vinyl that got in the 70s. I think I was just starting high school when it came out. Man, the 70s was a great time for guitar in music!
😎👍💓🇺🇸🎸 LONG LIVE PRS!!! RELIC FREE SINCE 1985!

That is the worst abomination on the guitar industry in my opinion. I'd rather every company make pointy guitars again.
Congratulations to John. He deserves the best guitar in the world and PRS has made him one.
This vid is worth it just to hear John riff like he did on Right Off.

But the combination of his playing and amazing tone on “Right Off.” 😳 That was a one off - never to be repeated.
I just purchased this wonderful instrument yesterday. It is a beautiful, magical, and extremely easy playing guitar. A perfect tribute to and for the Maestro, the master, John McLaughlin.

Congratulations
I’ve been a fan of Mr. McLaughlin since 1972. I’ve seen him live many, many times. Always an inspiring figure to me. It’s great to hear him playing some blues.
Never mind scales or discipline...it's about 'flow state', becoming a conduit for the Higher Creative Spirit to flow through you.
Thanks John McLaughlin and the PRS team for designing and producing this amazing instrument. John is one of the most versatile / stellar guitarists ever. I have admired and seen John in concert "live " several times since the early 70's as well as have many of his albums too. His musical contributions with Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti and his solo work are iconic. This guitar is truly a perfect match for John as he confirms in this short video. Love conquers all🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Really interesting to hear him playing unaccompanied. It's a gorgeous guitar.
That’s a beautiful guitar, if I start saving now, I should be able to afford one by the time I’m John’s age. Jokes aside, John is a legend and only PRS could build an instrument to match his legendary status. Well Done!
Extrapolation was my introduction to McLaughlin. A complete master of music and his instrument.

Same for me.This recording is still a reference one,John playing was very innovative. The music portrayed there brings a feel of communion with the musicians as a nice jazz recording should bring.A highly recommended vinyl adquisition. A must have for a serious music lover.
John is legend. Congrats on the new Signature guitar.
Beautiful guitar. Inspiring guitarist. Thanks, Paul!
Hmm, Mahavishnu John, what a great player!
John looks so healthy at his age and still has the lightning fast technique
I have been studying John now since 40 years.......John Mclaughlin is my guru.....who I am looking forward to meeting in person in October....

"If you're thinking you're not playing, and if you're playing you're not thinking" 3:13 That's such a simple way of putting into words something I thought was unexplainable lol, he's a legend and insightful too. Great video!
Dear John, I first heard the Inner Mounting flame in 1971. It blew my mind and cemented me as a "Jazz" musician for the rest of my life. I was lucky enough to have Al Di Meola as a teacher, which I only mention because that is how I became so Lucy as to meet you back stage at Carnegie Hall when you played with Paco, And Al. At the moment I play as my last tune before falling off to sleep "Lotus Feet" with Jean-Luc in Istanbul. It still amazes me how you can be the Fire at the head of a rushing wind, and, as in this tune, as subtle as a light breeze. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the many years of joy listening to your compositions and playing.
It’s so great to hear Mahavishnu plugging straight into the amp again ❤
I met John several times and I can only say the best about him. He is a wonderful person plus a musical genius. We should all just thank him.
The most legendary PRS artist!
I love PRS guitars. I love John McLauglin's playing, his Devotion album is one of my favorites and I think it is brilliant.
A piece as classy and masterful as its name sakes, John and Paul. What a way to bring back the collection knot inlays as well.

The Godfather of Shred
i remember when PRS sent me my first CU 24 ($6K) i felt exactly the same way JM describes; you want to sleep with that instrument; exactly the same thing happened when i bought my second CU 24 ($3K); the quality in the craftsmanship is just second to none other guitar i have ever played; it speaks volumes about PRS that he would capture signature guitarists like JM and CS to show the perfection that an instrument can accomplish with love;
I dream of being able to own a private stock one day
Beautiful guitar for a true Master!!!
Pretty much that's the guitar I've been playing since 2013, one I built based loosely on a Private Collection instrument, except I put in a fixed wrap-around PRS tailpiece, use Seymour Duncan humbuckers, and the two extra toggle switches are three-way wiring switches for each pickup, allowing them to be operated in standard humbucker, parallel humbucker, and split coil modes. It's been one of my favorite guitars for the last decade.

A magical Master and guitar
Those pick ups are based on the 408, I remember Paul doing the Signature private stock guitars that hade those pick ups from like what, 2018? Dang that’s a long time ago and sir your guitar is based on the 408, congratulations on your guitar, and another job well done to Paul!

About time. Well deserved, John.
Yay! Look forward, to when mine arrives
Apart from the honest and full of heart remarks my Mr McLaughlin, let's all agree that guitar is also fuckin' badass in the design!
Pretty amazing
I’ve always thought eq switches would be more useful then splits. Especially with humbuckers. So freaking cool!
Now patiently waiting for the SE version with the same switching possibilities! Given how well built and consistent those are nowadays there's no doubt PRS can pull it off! Thanks Paul :)
Magnifico.💰💰💰💰💰💰
Another $20,000 PRS just what everyone needs
PRS makes an impressive guitar. I made the mistake of selling a dark cherry burst 2007 Custom 24 10 Top. I since replaced it with a dark cherry burst 2004 Custom 24 Artist package and a 2018 blood orange McCarty 594. Simply fantastic guitars. I’ve since made the EVH Wolfgang USA my main axe, but I won’t ever sell my PRS. They’re still in the rotation.
John is a legend. Not sure I'd want a HP filter switch. It may only involve a cap in series with the pickup. I use caps in parallel to create variable peaks, and sometimes a high-value cap on the treble bleed so I can get a slight bass reduction by rolling the V knob down a notch or so. One good thing about PRS guitars is the extra attention to stabilizing the woods b4 building. They also liberally use baked woods.
I like them as well.
A great soul.
I agree with your philosophy 100%! And Paul’s guitars are amazing!!
That amp sounds fucking immense.
It's like Kenny Werner philosophy...both John and Paul.
I hope someday I will have my own guitar which is PRS guitar, I will claim it ! even though I can't afford it now but soon
John's nephew is a Berklee trained bass player, and he's very very good.
Halo beautiful bravo
If you’d done a Rick Mitrantando signature, you’d have sold out in a day. Please PRS, get with Goose, he’s played your Hollowbody II for years.
The best guitarist, according to the late Jeff Beck and Chick Corea.
❤❤❤❤
In the 1970s he was unmatched. The Mahavishnu Orchestra was Zappa on steroids, check out their live version of Dream and the unreleased tracks of Between nothingness and eternity, supernatural playing
Paul, if you make a guitar like the one you gave to Tom Bukovac I’ll buy my first prs guitar.
Shakti and Bitches Brew.......both have expanded music to new realms
So signature musician aside, what separates this guitar from a Pauls guitar made in private stock with different inlays?

Beautiful guitar. 200 lucky people. I recently took the plunge on a custom 24 wood library after saving up, a lot. Was considering a Gibson or Fender Custom shop, but thought I would go with the maker that's elevating the game. PRS doesn't get enough credit. The guitar is unbelievable. It practically plays itself, says in tune, has perfect intonation (as good as I've ever seen), sounds great, and looks amazing. Tele on steroids. It has low wind pickups, which is what I wanted.
