The Private Stock John McLaughlin Limited Edition | PRS Guitars

Музыка

Introducing the Private Stock John McLaughlin Limited Edition - a 200 piece run of instruments meticulously spec’d by Paul Reed Smith to honor John McLaughlin. All of the woods were specially chosen by Paul for their tone, figure, and weight. Paul Reed Smith and Paul Miles have signed each Private Stock John McLaughlin model on the back of the headstock. As an added detail, John McLaughlin has autographed the backplate of each instrument.
“Being John’s guitar maker is an honor I fought decades for, and to now be able to give him a signature model is a special moment for me and hopefully the industry. These guitars were designed to both feel like magic when you pick them up but also disappear in your hands so you can just focus on playing. John is capable of playing at extraordinary speed and with this instrument, you hear every note. Finding that balance as a guitar maker and coaxing every bit of sound out of the guitar was the key.” - Paul Reed Smith

    Hopefully some people realized John was intentionally playing quite basically, in order to showcase the guitar and not himself. That’s class.

    Thanks John McLaughlin and the PRS team for designing and producing this amazing instrument. John is one of the most versatile / stellar guitarists ever. I have admired and seen John in concert "live " several times since the early 70's as well as have many of his albums too. His musical contributions with Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti and his solo work are iconic. This guitar is truly a perfect match for John as he confirms in this short video. Love conquers all🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

    Dear John, I first heard the Inner Mounting flame in 1971. It blew my mind and cemented me as a "Jazz" musician for the rest of my life. I was lucky enough to have Al Di Meola as a teacher, which I only mention because that is how I became so Lucy as to meet you back stage at Carnegie Hall when you played with Paco, And Al. At the moment I play as my last tune before falling off to sleep "Lotus Feet" with Jean-Luc in Istanbul. It still amazes me how you can be the Fire at the head of a rushing wind, and, as in this tune, as subtle as a light breeze. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the many years of joy listening to your compositions and playing.

    i remember when PRS sent me my first CU 24 ($6K) i felt exactly the same way JM describes; you want to sleep with that instrument; exactly the same thing happened when i bought my second CU 24 ($3K); the quality in the craftsmanship is just second to none other guitar i have ever played; it speaks volumes about PRS that he would capture signature guitarists like JM and CS to show the perfection that an instrument can accomplish with love;

    Pretty much that's the guitar I've been playing since 2013, one I built based loosely on a Private Collection instrument, except I put in a fixed wrap-around PRS tailpiece, use Seymour Duncan humbuckers, and the two extra toggle switches are three-way wiring switches for each pickup, allowing them to be operated in standard humbucker, parallel humbucker, and split coil modes. It's been one of my favorite guitars for the last decade.

    PRS makes an impressive guitar. I made the mistake of selling a dark cherry burst 2007 Custom 24 10 Top. I since replaced it with a dark cherry burst 2004 Custom 24 Artist package and a 2018 blood orange McCarty 594. Simply fantastic guitars. I’ve since made the EVH Wolfgang USA my main axe, but I won’t ever sell my PRS. They’re still in the rotation.

    John is a legend. Not sure I'd want a HP filter switch. It may only involve a cap in series with the pickup. I use caps in parallel to create variable peaks, and sometimes a high-value cap on the treble bleed so I can get a slight bass reduction by rolling the V knob down a notch or so. One good thing about PRS guitars is the extra attention to stabilizing the woods b4 building. They also liberally use baked woods.

    Beautiful guitar. 200 lucky people. I recently took the plunge on a custom 24 wood library after saving up, a lot. Was considering a Gibson or Fender Custom shop, but thought I would go with the maker that's elevating the game. PRS doesn't get enough credit. The guitar is unbelievable. It practically plays itself, says in tune, has perfect intonation (as good as I've ever seen), sounds great, and looks amazing. Tele on steroids. It has low wind pickups, which is what I wanted.
