He’s one of the most interesting villains to me because he’s pretty much a little man who can wield a lot of power; more than even he can really handle. While he’s trying to puppeteer others, he’s desperately trying to free himself from the debts that control him. That dynamic is one you don’t see explored often, and definitely not in Disney films, and Kieth David’s performance SERIOUSLY sells everything this character is supposed to represent.

I love how Facilier didn't get some watered down kids ending "Oh no he was arrested and punished". No, Facilier was dragged screaming and begging into the depths of Hell or worse by VooDoo monsters and that's the end of it. I want to point out how much detail there is to Facilier's body language - you'd expect him to stand ramrod straight all the time like Jafar or Frollo and be cool and elegant, and Facilier does stand straight and tall when he's trying to charm someone. But when he's agitated he hunches more, stands legs apart and gestures wildly - his body language is someone who's not quite as refined as he wants you to believe.

Yeah, she was pinned. That meant even after grabbing the pendant, she should have been incapable of moving, let alone breaking it. Edit: Unless he let go of the cane because he was surprised by the pendant being grabbed. In which case, the cane wouldn't be in the shot, it would have vanished since he needs the power of the loa- His "friends from the other side" to conjure up the cane in the first place. His death was a long time coming anyway. He threw his magic under the bus for money. The price to pay for arrogance is death. "Are you ready?!" and that song: "Get ready to Die!" Go well together.

His shadow is definitely supernatural. If you look closely at the wallpaper during the "are you ready" song, you'll see that any floral-pattern wallpaper the shadow covers turns to skull and crossbones. Besides that visual detail, his friends from the other side pull his shadow, not him, which pulls him along too into hell. His shadow also kicks Lawrence while Facilier himself is moving.

For a Disney ending, this is pretty dark. The villain is well written too. He cornered someone while at the same time being cornered as well. Instead of the latter typically makes people to sympathize, the dark dealing that put him into his situation is out of free will. This is just my initial impression of this villain since this movie never got any popularity in my place for whatever reason. Something I realized: when "Friends on the other side" is playing for the first time with Dr. Facilier turning Naveen into a frog, the background chant is barely noticeable with a smooth jazz overshadowing it, kinda like the chant is behind the song. It represents Facilier's charismatic and off putting personaility but in reality is running from death every day When Facilier is about to "die", the chant is the loudest part and the instruments for the jazz tune are incredibly loud, like his "friends" caught up in the chase and Facilier is panicking for survival

"the other side" is one of my favorite songs from Disney. Not only does it remind me of Scar for some reason, but it's really unique compared to all the other songs that are devoted to the villains in these films. Not only that, but the melody is a banger.

Coincidence, Keith David voice both Disney villains, King Andrias and Dr. Facilier who have a thing for battling amphibians and bugs. Plus, they both take direct orders from Dark force, such as The Core (Andrias) and The Friends on the other side (Facilier)
