£75 shirts are one of the reasons 5th tier clubs can attract 9K to games. People are seriously looking beyond the PL, long may it continue, this looked like a great game.

I admire the english passion for their football. Serie A prices , at least here in Rome, have been more affordable these past few years but European matches are still prohibitive for a family. I agree that the "lower" leagues offer a lot of emotion and spectacle. When I went to Argentina, i only went to one 1st division match but I attended a few 2nd and even 3rd division matches that were something out of this world.

Honestly, I am quite impressed. Fans in England turn up to support their team whether they be in the Premier League or 5th tier of football. I live in Ottawa and our team is in the Canadian Premier League, which you could say is the first tier of Canadian Football (soccer) - and our local team Atletico Ottawa doesn't fill up stadiums like Chesterfield FC. Shout outs to the fans, its wonderful to see this and our supporters need to do more to support our teams.

Not a footie fan but here is the story. I like rugby and used to attend Leicester Tigers every week with 20 kids from my son's school. This was late 90s. Kids tickets were £2 and adult £10 for unreserved seating. Tigers had a policy of 'unreserved seating' which was the first two rows of seats which were specifically targeted at the 'working class'. Still £2 each for the kids and £10 for me to watch top tier rugby. We always arrived 1 hour before the match to guaranteed centre pitch seats. Magical days. The kids all literally met the players from both sides pre match. Then... 'professionalism. No unreserved seating, cheapest seat £35. The end. They use child, slave labour to produce the shirts for cents on a dollar and mark up like this. It should be illegal!

They have to make money, and rightly so. Upkeep of the facilities (seating, toilets, etc). But the transition from a fun, affordable outing, to something that involves eye-watering expense is tragic. Your two-word sentence after the price of the cheapest seat says everything. (And even that price is pennies compared to the cost of merely being up in the clouds at the vast EPL arenas. RIP Goodison Park (and I don't even much care for either of the city's PL teams.). Such a crying shame.)

The prices of new replica shirts has always been verging on the obscene. In the mid 80s, they were about £18 & the same amount as 10 pints of beer. £75 is a stupid price - I would rather save £30 & get a retro shirt that wouldn't be out of date. Lol! You cheeky girl, you! That "explanation" about the guy with the hand gestures, pointing out the child toss, and other curios events had me going. You have yourself a new follower 🤝 On a more proper note, that was a great narration about the point you're trying to make. If you weigh your financial options, if limited, there's always a solution to how you can further your joy in other settings.

So jealous. Love that you guys have strong lower league scene and can have a day out get a nice kit and a scarf couple pints food and intense atmosphere (i always like to sit in supporters section) for like a little over the price of the Liverpool shirt. That price is a slap in the face.

Great video! I really like how english people support and love their football. Here in Mexico we love football too, but people don't support their teams even in the first division, they only go to the stadium if the match is against one of the famous clubs.

Used to watch Division One football week in week out in North London until priced out. One of the best goals I’ve ever seen was by a lad called Rene Steer at a Non League game in Cambridgeshire. St.Neots v Canvey in a midweek FA Cup game which only cost £10 to get in. It’s on KZread.

The atmosphere looked great there. I agree about shirt prices, our local football club shirts are £55, the match day ticket per adult is £25 and £10 for under 18s.

Watch a liverpool match from 30 years ago and listen to the noise of a celebration after a goal, then 20 years ago, then 15, 10, 5 and current day. Pick any games it doesn’t matter. Its interesting to hear just how money has damaged the experience. I went to my first game in 2000 and it still had a very scouse local feel to it but now that just isn’t the case. I’d love to see a mix % of scousers, non-scouse british, north americans, south americans, asians etc

Chesterfield were so unlucky to get close but not make it, but one of their fans rang in to the local radio station to tell the Sheffield Wednesday fans to keep believing even tho we were 4-0 down in our playoff semi, we could make it. Wonder whatever happened after that?

I was there too on the other side of where you were, may or may not have snuck on the pitch lol Such a shame we ultimately couldn’t go promoted then losing out on penalties to notts county (scabs) but I believe this season is our time
