Here in East Los Angeles, California. Sisters of the Presentation taught at Our Lady of Lourdes, my school. I'm 72 years old, and they were amazing. God be with Sisters of the Presentation. May blessed ever Virgin Mother Mary keep them

I went to parochial school. As young students, we were never educated about the Presentation Sisters. I wish we had been. 3 of our four Presentation Sisters were teachers and the oldest one, our principal. She could be firm but the others were friendly. They came from Ireland. Those sisters brought a caring human element to our environment. You didn't find that at public schools. And no bullies. Schools should include the history of the Presentation Sisters in their curriculum. Thank you Sister Malachy aka Teresa Baugh. I've carried memories of you my entire life. Rest in Peace.

All my teachers in Grade School were Franciscan Religious Sisters. All of them were wonderful, and the best teachers. It is so sad that they are all gone now. And children cannot grow up with the experience I did.

@@alexavellanoweth Thank you. My Mom would never want to go back to Latin. She went to one and didn't like it. But she does say it was better in the old days. She says "people were more reverent, and they prayed more."

My brother sent me this, which truly brought joy to my day! I graduated from SBS in 2002. Sister Winifred was my 6th-grade teacher and played a crucial role in my life when I had a grand mal seizure in her classroom. Her roommate at the convent had epilepsy, and Sister Winifred knew precisely how to respond. Sister Maria was my 8th-grade teacher, and she was the kindest soul. Whenever I had a fainting episode at church, Sister Carmel would come to my aid, offering me juice and letting me rest in her office. Mrs. Jakubowski, our music teacher, was the funniest, and Megan, who was in the same class as me, was always so sweet. Mrs. Mullen's daughter and I were also classmates and neighbors. It was an extraordinary group of people, and these memories are treasures that I hold close to my heart.

Sister Carmel, who I knew as Sr. Raphael in 1966, was my first-grade teacher before she became the principal at SBS. She was a large influence on my life. She is exactly as I remember her, sweet, gentle, and beautiful spirit. God Bless her and all of the Presentation Sisters.

Absolutely beautiful tribute to these fine ladies. Sr. Maria was my 8th grade teacher and we still have a bond today. I've been at St. Bonaventure for almost 40 years and its' so great for someone to tell their stories so that their legacy lives on.

This is so sad ... so much of the Tradition of this order ripped away. These women now seem lost and without context or purpose.

Interesting take Mark! I perceived the opposite view where their present work in retirement is more purposeful since it is closely intertwined with their personal interests and passions, when that wasn't necessarily the case when they were assigned work and geographical location earlier in their career.
