When I start looking for extra space, I tell myself it's means you have TOO MUCH STUFF!

I would say don't take the landlords decision personally. As someone who has previously allowed people to use my free space for "just a few things" I've learnt that it can easily become "I'm sure they won't mind if I just add a few more things", then it grows beyond the initial agreement leading to difficult conversations needing to be had & resentment on both sides. By setting & respecting boundaries, you & your landord will both be better off! 😊

When I first got divorced I remember my girlfriends were QUITE protective of their husbands...I told them, "I just got rid of mine I DO NOT want YOURS!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just an opinion: I think the majority of people who follow The Minimalists are supportive and want to be positive. I don't think that people who really miss the video want to say so because they want to support what is right for The Minimalists (including myself). Appreciate the podcast, but I really miss seeing your faces and expressions. =)

For sure....but I am sure sometimes their schedules probably don't work to go to the studio as much. I get it though.

The landlord knows that her "few things" will turn into a hoard at some point. The landlord is smart for not allowing it to begin with.

Absolutely wrong. I am a minimalist and would never hoard. I get the idea of me being entitled. I stand corrected. I didn’t tell the Minimilists the whole story. Also it is not pathological to create a new term… space hoarder. It’s creative and I was only asking if that was a thing. There is another term for it I am sure. No I am not a hoarder by far. I downsized from a five bedroom home to a rented room. Minimalist show helped me so much and now they pointed out my entitlement. Ok good. I only asked a temporary favor of the landlord. I had an excess of toilet paper because someone purchased it for me.

In NO WAY would I share my personal storage space with someone I'm renting to! 1) That's my space to use as I want---empty shelves or not. 2) I wouldn't give access to my private space---storage or otherwise---for someone (who already feels entitled) to, perhaps, take the opportunity to rifle through and help themselves to items that were mine. 3) It opens a door to damages, uncleanliness, bugs---no thanks. The level of entitlement here is a bit gobsmack. It shows she's already crossed the line by being nosey enough to discover this extra storage space of her landlords.

No. This lady has been a friend for over 50 years and already let me store a few things when I moved in. Sorry I ever asked the question…lots of jumping to conclusions and mean comments. My fault. I never fully explained anything. I just asked a question with no background. Oh well. Yes maybe I was feeling entitled. Lesson learned. Also never will I ask another question. They got a show out of it so that’s good. Love the Minimalists.

I'm all in for separate bedrooms for couples because it leads to a greater chance that they both will still like each other the following morning. A good nights sleep is a priority!

Her landlord's issue may be a simple financial one. The rental arrangement may not have included use of the garage. Perhaps, if the caller did not already do this, she could offer additional financial compensation to the landlord for use of the additional garage space through an amended lease or contract . This would arguably cost the renter less than having to rent a storage unit. Just a thought.

I love my "nothing" time. It's really my time, it's time for what I want. When I share myself with someone else.......it's going to be when I want to. I think way too many people blur private time and social time...

Hi minimalists, is there no new episode for this week? I’m so used to a listening to a new episode of the podcast each week and I have kept checking to see if it had come out. I now feel despondent… I didn’t realize you had taken so much space in my life.

Entitled person. That’s not your space. Your rental space does not include the garage. Entitlement is a huge issue

My sister has OCD to the MILLIONTH power. I think it's a control issue, at least with her it is. They have zero control over anything in their lives EXCEPT stuff and their space. I lived with her and believe me it's a mental health problem. My mother is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE....has TONS of stuff! I am sure that had something to do with it. Neither one of them are mentally well.

Oh and I have actually been to a hoarders house....It made me really upset. I had a friend who hoarded dolls because she never had a baby and really wanted one. It was sort of sad to be honest.
