    As an individual who suffers from Stargardt Disease and now legally blind; I am grateful for what little vision I have left. I constantly remind my friends and family to always be grateful for the wonderful gft of sight, because it could all be gone in a matter of a day. I am also grateful that I was able to inspire other individuals through my poetry and to share my story on what it's like living and struggling with a disability. ( This is also my first comment I've ever posted and I'm grateful for that as well, lol.)

    You should be grateful for the samll things aswell as for the big things. Because most people these days tend to be success oriented, a lot of them are only happy when they achieve huge things. If you enjoy the small things you will feel better and more satisfied. A delicious meal, nice weather, time with friends and family or simply a good night of rest are things that I am grateful for every day.

    Take the broken bones part out. I feel like being thankful for something you don't have attracts what you don't have. For instance if I say " I'm thankful or grateful for A million dollars " has the same energy placement as " I'm grateful for no broken bones or death " constantly repeating both of those will bring both of them because energy isn't negative nor positive.

    I'm grateful for living a life where I never have to worry about where my next meal is coming from. Thinking about this often helps me out a lot because whenever something does not go well for me I remember that it could have been worse and I'm still alive and well and I instantly feel so much better about whatever happened.

    Let's see what im grateful for. I'm grateful for having a roof over my head, living in a area that isn't filled to the brim with dangerous wildlife and crime rate is low. I'm grateful for being able to eat every day even if it isn't good or if it's only once a day. I'm grateful for having clean water to drink. I'm grateful that both of my parents are alive even if they are commonly away. I'm grateful that i have my own computer, even if it's a tin can and it's louder than a jet, so i can talk with far away friends and play old video games to forget my worries. And i'm grateful that i'm still healthy and have no physical disabilities. That's it. Nothing else is there to name.

    I’m a recovering addict and I sponsor about 12 different men. Each morning first thing we do is write a gratitude list to each other and those that have done it on an every day basis have reported benefits and almost every aspect of lies. Even their wives have come to me and told me what a difference it’s made in their relationships.

    So how does depression figure into this? Can a depressed person ever escape from this condition on their own by being grateful and slowly interacting with people more? I mean to say is if they watched this video, and tried this method without directly reaching out to someone in a big way not in their plan could they effectively fix themselves without ever talking to anyone specifically about their depression?

  • @LunaGalaxyPenguinLover

    @LunaGalaxyPenguinLover

    7 жыл бұрын

    +Andrew Adams I suppose that they could fix themselves like that but I don't think that it's likely to work. In my experience with depression not only to you suffer from low energy you start thinking negatively, pessimistic and it got the point with me that I was far past suicidal to the point where I believed death was a blessing I didn't deserve. I've been in therapy my entirety of middle and high school for anxiety and depression and I'm only now starting to show progress. if they could do it they're a he'll of a lot stronger than I was. I effectively sat down and sliced fifty cuts into each thigh to the point where when I was hospitalised they thought I was lying about doing it in one sitting.

    Depends, you could if you have a very strong will and you're not deeply depressed as this guy above (btw ur story made me think that what I passed was nothing compared, like what the hell dude 😳). In order to escape depression by yourself you have to really really try hard, but by little steps each day; try by practicing being grateful and not focussing on negativity at least for 10 minutes a day (be grateful especially for the people around you, you might think there are none but you're probably wrong), try to smile once in a while not only for things that make you laugh but for little things that bring you joy.

  • @Zero-de6hq

    @Zero-de6hq

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yeah TMI I didn't need you to say all of that, so if you don't mind try not to say things that intense when I got the point when you said "been in therapy my entirety of middle and high school for anxiety and depression and I'm only now starting to show progress." Trust me I'm not like some people who'd be like "oh really how bad were you really?" I trust that you wouldn't lie about how long you've been recovering particularly if you're willing to talk about it. Personal experience is helpful, but I was hoping someone with more studies to back up their answer would answer me. So that was helpful I'm just talking it with a grain of salt :).

    +Andrew Adams I didn't mean to upset you if I did, I'm sorry. The release of chemicals in your brain if you have the resolve to keep a positive outlook would be able to cure it. it's all about your will power. p.s. I've never been the best with interaction I didn't really know where to stop sorry if it upset you that wasn't the intention I just am really bad a social cues and where to stop that's socially acceptable.

  • @LunaGalaxyPenguinLover

    @LunaGalaxyPenguinLover

    +Tony it wasn't my intention to mitigate your struggle. everyone's struggles are unique and different and hell for all of us. being understanding of people's struggles and mentality is a step in helping everyone feel connected in an age where we're isolated by technology. We'll probably never meet in person but that doesn't mean that your struggle was any less difficult than mine and that you're wrong for being depressed because in the end you can't cap feelings or marginalise mental illness. it comes in all different shapes and sizes and affects people of all race, gender, sexuality, and social class. I should probably shut up I'm making it worse aren't i.

    I am grateful that I live in one of the richest countries in the world (if you are reading this, you probably are too). I am grateful that I have the opportunity to shape my life how I want to through hard work and discipline. I am grateful for the libary in our city, giving me the opportunity to educate myself with an unbelievable amount of wisdom for basically free (u only pay once 3€). I am grateful for having my family, even tho I have no father. I am grateful for my mother who I can be 1000% sure of will never abandon me and only wants the best for me because I learned that all this is not a thing that is given to everyone. 7 billion people, and such a high possibility that I could have been born in africa or in an (extremely) abusive household. We take human rights for granted but there only exist for (where I live) about 70 years. The grandmother of my teacher lived through the 2nd world war, was captured by the nazis and put in a concentration camp. We have the best developed technology ever existed, peace and wealth. This truly is the best time and place to be born in. Even if I am still anxious about the future and my grades could be better and I could do more of this and improve that. But however reality is extremely subjective and so you cannot blame anyone for being not grateful. Because most likely if you experienced and lived through what they did, you would probably think just the same. So don't be to hard on people who are negative either. Just being a little bit kind goes a long way. jup.

    I struggle with these of types videos. Gratefulness is important. This person has read a few studies. Determined all that is wrong with the mental ill is a lack of being thankful. Throughout my struggles I've been told this over and over "You're just not grateful enough. So and so has it worse". "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" Mental illness is about brain chemistry and balancing our moods. It is also about trauma. I'm not a veteran but I have complex ptsd. A smile awhile journal does not resolve the issues.

    I am very grateful for the meal selflessly delivered to my home yesterday evening by Goddess. I am grateful to recieve organic ingredients, non genetically modified and prepared by a conscious and respectful chef and I realize that expressing that thanks is one way I can ensure such ingredients keep appearing in a spiritual clean cycle. All of my order is vegetarian, and I am grateful that there is better karma in it because of that. The food itself was high quantity though the dishes were plain with little relishing aside from their main ingredients, but still good sauce! Luckily it is the spring season and I know some of the fresh edible plants and garlic that I can add myself. Wisdom of the Earth! It is thoughtful of the chef of the restaurant to offer the vegetarian menu, many items there are just substituting meat with tofu but some truly original vegetable dishes are offered as well. I am still eating this same order today 1 day later, longevity of nourishment, wisdom of proportion. I offer a small prayer now for the wellbeing and healthy hearts of the chef and all the restaurant staff, may they meet with favorable circumstances, gain wisdom and inner peace and may they keep getting healthier and looking better as they fill the bellies of the community that in turn fills their lives with blessings. ~ Thank you, China King Carryout restaurant!

    I am thankful for the people at the grocery stores for their kindness and helpfulness, I am grateful that food is coming to all places of the world, including Yemen, a very important place in the world where thankfully recently things seem to have taken a turn for peace. I am grateful therefore also for peace in the middle east, differing cultures are settling in friendship now after too long of a stand off fueled only be arrogance and uncomprimising hearts. Heart Chakra has awakened in an important place in the world. I am grateful that now minor differences are being set aside in acknowledgement of the big picture and unity of all is emphasized as related, the differences of expression are beautiful and increase understanding of all they are not detrimental just for being diverse. I will be grateful if the newfound peace brings great flowers of other kinds where before others may have been too stifled to blossom. May the heart continue to lead with wisdom. Divine love

    I am grateful to be surrounded by trees that have lived long and are local to my region, and I am grateful that I can live in respect to the trees and in respect for the beauty wisdom and health of the forests around me as I meditate and go about a humble civilian's life. I live in a watershed region, that watershed is one that I have pampered to the best of my ability, I am passing out pamphlets with zen slogans encouraging recipients to respect the dynamics of our local ecosytem, and if they are visitors their own when they return home. Seasons, give me time with my Goddess, give me time with my watershed. I have planted semi rare local plants every year along roadways and in wildforests, I am requesting that fate sustain those areas, protecting them from encroachment by businesses and humans.

    Then you don't have to. Don't force yourself to feel something you aren't feeling. But you can do it out of a habit and see where that goes. Like they say, fake it until you make it kind of thing.

    I understand where you're coming. But, I think that even if I say "I feel grateful for food, shelter, family and friends" 108 times every morning, it would feel strange. Like it's not authentic. Or, instead, for a moment I would really feel it just to be left with emptyness the next time a problem of any kind arises.

    Thank you american environmentalists for overrunning government (principle of majority) with your vocal instructions to abstain from new construction and expansion of human settlements and to give thanks and respect for mother nature, and her rejuvenating bounty. Thank you, american government for listening empathetically, and for being more careful to turn off appliances when not in use, and ipgrade to solar power whenever possible.
