The Power Of CS1x - Ep1 - Airwolf, The Terminator, Don't You Want Me, Knight Rider and Jump

Музыка

For many years my wife and I have wanted to create something dedicated exclusively to the Yamaha CS1x synthesizer. Finally, after so much work, we are very happy to present you this mini series in which the sounds of the CS1x will be the protagonists.
Each episode will consist of 5 famous music presets that I created and performed on the CS1x.
The visual style and structure of these videos is inspired by early 90s learning video tapes.
The initial logo and the music, is a tribute to one of the most important distributors of VHS in those years in the United States, the "Simitar Entertainment".
To make these videos useful even for those who just want to learn how to play some pieces of this music from the past with their own keyboard/synth, I filmed the synthesizer from above in order to better understand the keys I press.
In this episode there is a brief description of the CS1x and a demonstration of 5 presets:
• Airwolf Theme - by Sylvester Levay - (Lead)
• The Terminator - Main Title - by Brad Fiedel - (Lead)
• Don't You Want Me - by The Human League - (Brass Chords)
• Knight Rider Theme - by Stu Phillips and Glen A. Larson - (Lead)
• Jump - by Van Halen - (Lead)
For the first time the videos where I play are live (improvised without a metronome). The sound you hear is pure CS1x, with no external effects.
All the presets you heard in this episode are available in SysEx format on my website: kosmusicovers.altervista.org/...
Original music:
• Theme - "Synth From Space" by KOSmusic
• End Credits - "Automatik" by KOSmusic
A special thanks to my dear friend @Julian Croot, for helping me with the English translation. If you don't already know him, check out his channel filled with amazing recreations of past classics: / @juliancroot
We hope that CS1x owners and music fans will like this new idea :)
* The original graphics and music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I'm just a fan and I recreate animations/graphics/tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these great timeless classics *

You made this look like a tv commercial or VHS tape from 1982. It couldn't be more perfect. I can't start to imagine how many weeks you have spent on this, but the result is in a league of its own. You even found the fonts, specific shades of each color and so many other details that tell me it's from 1982. That's actually 14 years before the CS1x was released, but who cares? 1982 was so much better than 1996.

I had the CS1X when I was young - it was inexpensive but I still had to save pretty hard for it. I loved it because it was mine but I always figured that it was a poor man's synth. I'm surprised to see that it had some kind of following.

I'm glad that you had the CS1x too... many times mid-range products can surprise you with their capabilities and I must say that in these years that I have learned to use this synth thoroughly, it has amazed me with its versatility and its sound quality. The only thing they could do better is the acoustic piano sounds, but other than that I love it!!! :) :) :)

I love that you added in the tape noise in the background, perfect editing on this video. I noticed the keyboard uses a DC Jack for power, I always thought this model had a built in PSU and used a IEC style cable to power the keyboard, I very well could be getting it confused with another Yamaha model, I know they made other keyboards that look virtual the same only they are grey in color.

Great video, I saw the CS1x in a music fair when Yamaha introduced it, bought one immediately brand new, it was my fourth or sixth synth, and I used it a lot. Still have it and it is in a stand with my AN1x which I got later as used.

Awesome as usual Kos. The intro and theming is outstanding... I absolutely loved it. The special mention to me was very kind...but I need to come clean to everybody watching and say I hardly did anything! Kos has a generous spirit, and yes...your English is fine. You remain a great inspiration to me in this field of 80s music and I hope this video series is a massive success for you... you thoroughly deserve it. Also it was very interesting to see what you've been able to do with the CS1x.

SUPER FANTASTIC!!!!! To receive a magnificent comment like this from another CS1x owner is really fabulous!!! Mine too, some time ago, had a key that sometimes didn't play and I solved it by cleaning the contacts of the PCB board and the silicone part. Unbelievable, the same thing happened to me a long time ago, that I discovered that there was a second bank of presets with beautiful sounds!! One of the things I would have liked on the CS1x would have been an extra bank to be able to store personal presets, instead of overwriting existing ones. GREAT!!! Me too, I compose original music with him :) Oh yes, the Drum machine sounds are really stunning too!! A huge thank you from me and my wife for your awesome comment :) :) :)

Love the "Simitar Entertainment" music in the intro. I used to watch a video called "Top Gun Jets" all the time when I was a kid and that music would always get my fired up for what I was about to watch. I was so happy when I was able to rediscover that tape when I finally found it about 15 years ago and I've rewatched it many times since (it's on YT, btw). Even going so far as to find the original tracks of some of the music used on the tape. I would sure love it if a composer were to rescore those songs so I could hear them without radio chatter and jet engine noise (wink, wink).

Airwolf main lead Pads in general were very different to this and it was multi-layered. Sly and Udi's session fellas mostly used Oberheims, Prophets and DX7 II's, with Jupiter 8 now and again.
