The Power List - Film Companion x Ormax Media
Power in the entertainment business is fascinating.
Because it shifts, like sheen on a silken cloth, from one person to another, from Friday to Friday. It's easy to recognize but hard to define - is power the ability to get a project greenlit? Or the freedom to refuse work that doesn't fire your soul? Or perhaps just, get your phone calls returned?
For the FC - Ormax Power List, we teamed up with Ormax Media to identify the most powerful people in Indian entertainment. The list covers five verticals - directors, actors, producers and studios, music talent and talent behind the camera. The list has been created by combining research methodology with editorial curation.
The work that was taken into consideration covers films, shows and music released until 2023. Please note that the names aren't ranked but listed alphabetically.
Storytelling is a collaborative art form. Unlike in business or sports, it's harder to dissect success here or speak in absolutes. But these are the players shaping pop culture and therefore, our world.

This list had literally such a diverse set of people. People from from so many industries, I still don’t get how people find a way to criticise just cause some favourite of theirs here and there is missing. This literally is a pretty good list

Anupama Chopra FC acting like KJO and Dharma productions PR. Alia Bhatt flops : gangubai, rrkpk, BRAHMASTRA RANBIR kapoor flops: SHAMSHERA BRAHMASTRA and TJMM Yet they make it to the list 😂😂😂
This list is heavily skewed towards men, with very few women included. It also lacks intersectionality. Surely editorial curation could have addressed that!

This ormax poll has been hijacked by Karan Johar and Dharma to push their talents like Alia Bhatt. I remember Karan aggressively promoting it on KWK shoving Alia down our throats and putting Samantha and Nayanthara down. She’s given average performances and BO numbers in Gangubai and RRKPK yet hailed as some biggie. Her career and success is so curated and manufactured
