Say what you want about Chandler's record, but it's a fact that everyone who fought him was in trouble at some point during the fight. He's an exciting guy that fans love to watch and that alone gives him a lot of privilege in the UFC, especially in situations like this where the UFC might not have a contender lined up for a title fight.

I'd be very surprised but I'd welcome it honestly because it sounds fun. If it happens I think it's because Dana knows the business, even if chandler vs islam itself isnt a successful fight. He wants fighters who are flexible and willing to follow their designs for them, it's what made UFC so big. Every once in a while Dana works outside the norms to remind the roster that compliance will be rewarded. Like it or not, Dana's way works. At the end of the day competetive architecture is NOT the priority, although it's the norm, it's the business model that's priority #1, and Dana having control is the foundation of that model. Sometimes Dana's message is "listen to me and see what I can do for you" even when the fight doesn't make sense competitively speaking.

he’s a big draw… simple as that. he goes out there to smash… or be smashed…he throws caution to the wind, and does not formulate a strategy to out-point someone. that is why he’s consistently been given these unique opportunities over and over to fight the best guys at lightweight…. but i agree with you…. doesn’t seem fair,.. but you have fair…. and you have good business…often good business will win over fair. Bo Nikel is a main-card attraction with little time in the UFC…he was even offered to fight whittaker….maybe not fair, but definitely good business. 👍🏼

I posted on your first McGregor cancelation video that Chandler deserves the Islam fight. He's done his part and has been a company man and sat and waited and put his career on hold for the blockbuster McGregor fight only to have it fall apart. He could have taken fights that would have led him to a title fight with Islam if he hadn't waited all this time. Give him the title fight. He deserves it and we'll all watch it.

Let's be honest, the only reason this is happening is because the UFC knows Chandler is the only fight McGregor has the possibility of winning. They want to create a storyline for the r apist to become champ again. It's doubled faceted... the UFC owes Chandler because they didn't give him a fight to wrap TUF which is customary and Chandler has a case. At the same time, they want the golden calf to maintain his star power which would come to fruition if they can use the judges to beat Islam if for some reason Chandler can take the fight all 5 rounds or lands a KO. It’s so obvious literally the only fight to make with arman being suspended forever is max vs Islam next at 155 or do max vs Dustin again but that does nothing for max rn, if arman was good to go rn to fight Islam that would of been perfect for max to fight ilia rn but because arman is out forever the only way to go is ilia rematch volkanovski and Islam vs max for the title and bmf. So then either way if max or Islam wins they can both go for double champ, so then Islam could possibly face Leon after he beats belal and then Leon might have to beat shavkat to to then face Islam or if max wins he can go down to face the winner of ilia and volkanovski and if max is the winner after he fought the winner of ilia and Alex he can fight movsar next at 145 or go back up to face Dustin again if he gets one or two more good wins for the belt or rematch Islam.
