The poor quality of Mamba turbos... (not the current one I use)

Mamba turbos have garbage quality, this is not my current turbo in use, but the previous one that had me to rebuild a lot of things.
I work as a measurement engineer and this is my measurement report I did on it after the thing destroyed itself and hurt my engine.
I did get money back for the turbo after starting a claim against them on EBAY. Never saw any compensation for the damage caused.
I have seen 4 other cases of mamba turbo having too tight bearing clearances and refuse to spin past a certain point and 2 more cases of badly machined compressor housings causing them to not stay seated as intended.

    Been using a Mambatek for 8 years now and going strong 24psi daily been up to 35psi no problems on a TD04L-15T Twinscroll Making A LOT of Torque. TD04HL-19T on my other car for 4 years no problems runs 18PSI . Even spoke to there Engineers who updated the CBV design after my findings that was many years ago.

    Ive been thinking of getting a mamba for my ct26 on my 7mgte since im still keeping the engine primarily near stock hp lvls. No more than 280whp at most and still keeping stock manifold

    Got a Mambetek turbo coming for my Ranger WLT in a few days. I hope mine will be worth it. They can't be that bad.

    I recently bought a mamba td04 hl-21t for my 9-5, got over a thousand miles on it without issue and it makes decent power. I had to reassemble it after buying because the housings weren’t lined up properly for my hose connections and oil drain, but otherwise haven’t had any issues yet. Would likely attribute this to manufacturing inconsistency, not great. Seems like buying these things might be a bit of a gamble?

    Ive seen this video before buying the actual 21t Took it apart for initial inspection... Could not find the same problem luckily Think the problem is only with their 19T housings maybe. Had to disassamble the 21t aswell had to clock and line out the housings seems like these 21t have very very tight fitting of compressor cover>bearing housing. and dont have the same the same problem as their 19T chargers. Installed it on the car and pulls like a train and no problems yet. If it blows the engine gives me reason to go fully build engine Fingers crossed😂😂

    Sounds like when you rotated the housing you didnt reseat the oring. Have seen this several times with different brands. If you have too much clearance with the compressor wheel to housing, its not going to develope any boost!

    FYI Had to clock and reseat everything when installing, otherwise wouldve never worked. But that has absolutely nothing to do with what happened here. If you check the measurement data in the end and look at the video of how loose the housing is, the only thing align the compressor housing was the O-ring as improper tolerancing with that excessive chamfer. Basically there was no metal contact for chra to housing fitment to keep it from compressing the O-ring in either direction. It floated around on the O-ring. A housing should never have this much play even without the O-ring and have never had issues any other turbo Ive had through years. As soon as slightest boost hit the housing shifted to one side causing the o-ring to compress and housing immediately made contact with the compressor wheel. Literally in the first 5km of driving.

    Bad engenering of turbin houseing and sorry for you that they didnt give you any thing back! sue em! they should pay for your extra problems since faulty desing sorry for you and angry on mamba

    Well I most certainly will buy Mamba turbos again. I've never had any problems with mine. I have a K04 on a Mini Cooper and a GTX3584R on an old school turbo VW Bug. I absolutely love them.

    Havent found any evidence for that, but seen a very few have struggle before, but also personally have had very good experience tuning one of those.

    @@LaunchJoelRacing i use original 19t on my b204r and im happy with that. Was put 19t from volvo and compressor housing from saab without bov. Clearence between housing and compressor wheel is 0.05.. good enought. I reach peak boost of 1.9b at 2380rpm It holds to 5700rpm then goes down to 1.7b at rev limiter.. result of mine setup is 433hp and 598nm when peak at 2.5rpm of torque. In my cause gearbox death two Times. Setup of mine is 19t, 725cc bosch, 044 fuel pump, 3.25 dp, 2.75 rest of exhaust, 630x350x65 IC. Ported exhaust mainfold, 3inch tup, bov double piston forge motorsport.. all goes on t5.5
