Haunting and shimmering brilliance. Listening over and over again through the years, this is my favorite rock album ever made. A musical revelation during my youth. Along with its unique, instantly recognizable and futuristically alluring black and glowing neon red cover design.

Great record, and I love the cover art. I listened to that a lot when I was in college.

This is my favorite album by the Police! Synchronicity was their commercial peak, but I always preferred Ghost in the Machine, as it's dark and moody. Even the deep cuts (Omegaman, Darkness, etc) are amazing! Great review Brendon!

I’m in agreement with you. For me it’s their most consistent album. I also like Reggatta de Blanc.

I love your Channel Brendon! I had no idea that the cover was actually them on the front. I've been a Police fan since they first came out and that album is definitely one of their best.

I've always highly rated this album. Side B is grossly underestimated in my opinion. There's some very haunting tracks on GITM. Great video, mate.

Enjoyed the review. It's an amazing album. Great album cover: very mysterious. They just kept getting better with each release. It always makes me smile that philosophical works by Koestler and Jung were referenced by a rock band.

I have this album and it's great. I didn't know that Grace Jones recorded Demolition Man before the Police did so that was fascinating. I have a few favorite songs like "One World" and "Too Much Information". I bought it in 1989 and still have it.

Last spring I bought the box set you have in the background. Wasn’t really familiar with The Police (besides the obvious hits) and I was pleasently surprised how good some of the deeper tracks are. Neat album by a neat band.

Interesting background info on the album. I think this is their most consistent and best album. I'm somewhat biased, however, towards Synchronicity for nostalgic reasons as that was the album that really got me into the band and I loved those singles and played that record to death in 1983.

Darkness and Omegaman: Two of these greatest police songs of them all with Stewart and Andy proving they could better many of the album tracks written by Sting! Ironically it’s not even Sting playing bass on Demolition Man. Danny had to record the bass due to stings bass playing being ‘too sloppy’

It’s a dark turn by a great band. It opens with three brilliant tracks (all singles) then the rest is dense and rhythm heavy. It’s a big kick in the ass against the pop machine. It’s far denser than the first three albums. It’s one of my favourites and it lead to the Crown Jewels, Synchronicity. The outtakes from Ghost are excellent too. There’s no album like it, it takes you in and when it stops you get off! I think the vamps in the songs are a bit like Talking Heads Remain in light.

I have always been a big fan of this band and now so surprised to learn so much from you! On another note, I am planning to visit my son in graduate school in the spring. Could you be kind enough and name your favorite Music Store you always talk about. Your top three would be very kind. Love your show and have been following before you hit a 1000 followers. Keep them coming!

Yeah there are no bad albums by The Police. But they were only around for a short time. Would have been interesting to hear how they developed over the years and if they would sound like Sting does today it would be something else.

I love this album as well. Definitely a departure with the keyboards.. But I think in a good way it's dark and brooding at times. I have friends that could not get into it except for the singles. I do recalls a kid it took me a few lessons but thenI would spend quite a lot of time just playing it over and over again. Often those type of albums are the ones that become my favorites, the ones that you kind alike at the beginning but but they start to grow on you as you listen more and more.

Hey, B-Man...How are yee?... "Our so-called leaders speak, their subject ain't the meek"(1981/ Spirits Material World) ... This is a special album by The Police---by turns dark(Invisible Sun), moody(Secret Journey),and even proggy(Darkness) ..... Synchronicity gets all the hype, but Ghost remains their finest moment!... Take Care, Ghostrider Rick
