Lyrics:
Though I've tried before to tell her
Of the feelings I have for her in my heart
Every time that I come near her
I just lose my nerve as I've done from the start
Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she does just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on
Do I have to tell the story
Of a thousand rainy days since we first met
It's a big enough umbrella
But it's always me that ends up getting wet
Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she does just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on
I resolved to call her up
A thousand times a day
Ask her if she'll marry me
In some old fashioned way
But my silent fears have gripped me
Long before I reach the phone
Long before my tongue has tripped me
Must I always be alone
Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she does just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on
Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she does just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on
Every little thing, every little thing
Every, every little thing
Every little, every little, every little
Every little thing she does
Every little thing she does
Every little thing she does
Every little thing she does
That she does is magic
Eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh
Eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh
Eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh
Eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh
Every little thing
Every little thing
Every little thing, she does is magic, magic, magic
Magic, magic, magic
Ey oh, yo oh
Eee oh oh oh oh oh
Do I have to tell the story
Of a thousand rainy days since we first met
It's a big enough umbrella
But it's always me that ends up getting wet

I have to thank my grandmother, who sadly passed away in 2011, that made me listen to all of the songs of bands and singers that she used to enjoy. Especially, she got me growing to 6 years old with Abba and The Police. I think I wouldn't need to say that this band is important to me as the other bands I listen to, but The Police have something that always takes me, makes me get a mind trip and then the magic rests in the air

There was always an interesting tension between Sting’s romantic jazz sensibilities and Copeland’s desire for The Police to be a punk band. It leaves a lot of their songs with a slightly off-kilter, foreboding, edgy feel. Chromatic and almost discordant at times, a lot of sharps and flats. This is actually one of their few songs that is unambiguously happy and upbeat.

I lived this song in the late 80s, I was love struck over my mom's hairdresser... fresh out of the Marines I would get a haircut every week weather I needed it or not. Finally worked up the courage to ask her out, she said not right now , but ask me again some time. My buddy knew about it, and he laughed at me.yeah, a good friend. I kept getting haircuts, and about a month later my friend Dianne , her coworker told me she had broke up with her guy... So I asked again. We dated three months, I proposed. We were married 3 months later. We're still married 33 years later.

The Police came out in 1978 - Outlandos d'Amour - their first album featuring reggae-beat rock songs. I wonder if that particular Scorpions' song was influenced by The Police, as have many musicians and bands since then (just check out Ride by Twenty One Pilots, Rude by Magic! and Locked Out of Heaven by Bruno Mars)

Now millions of musicologists fritter and waste their time away on how Copeland spent days figuring out how to drum this song, just so, perfectly and precisely.

very funny story. but I did have problems talking to girls when I was a teen. but I loved listening to the police. and before one school dance that I had gotten the nerve to attend. Just by pure luck I was listening to the ghost in the machine. and when I got to the dance.. this song was playing. guess what. I met the girl I liked. and have been married to for the past 40 year. it was played at our wedding. I owed my life to this group and song. thank you

This song is so beautiful it makes me wanna cry. It reminds me of the sweetest days of my life. When I was a baby and toddler in the late 80's I listened to sting and fleet wood mac and journey and all the greats. I never remembered the words cuz I was too little but the melodies never left my head. I slowly figured out the songs over time. They say little kids and babies cant remember anything. Its rare but you'd be surprised.

40 yrs later, I can sit back to fully understand, appreciate and emote on why this is my #1 fav song. I probably always assumed that I was "she" since music is the one thing that keeps me six feet above ground. Especially seeing little black boys and girls dancing and having fun in the video....watching the band dancing and goofing off towards the end - all my favorite things rolled up into one. Pure joyous music that always makes me smile to hear it. Indeed, it's magic.
