I like to see Sting when he's with Summers and Copeland. He looks totally different when he's with them. He loses his usual coolness and never hides his emotions, especially at Copeland. It's like he's facing an old mate of his, who irritates but also amuses him. Copeland totally understands how to trigger that bit in Sting.

It was Stewarts band and Stewart invited Sting to London and Stewarts brother was their/his manager and his dad ran the CIA and could have Sting disappear. Stewart knows this and lords it over Sting.

"That doesn't mean ANYTHING, Sting!!" God, the open vitriol barely masked by the sarcasm was incredible in most of the interviews with the Police around this time. No doubt they would have cratered their reputation after Synchronicity if they had put out another record. Tension can be a good thing between band members, as it can bring out the best in everyone, but another Police record at that time would've been a huge mistake IMO.

Ever heard these albums (or heard of them)? Look up what artists' recorded these, but I swear you won't believe it. All of them, popular artists [at the time]; all those titles.....BOMBED. Yes it's sad The Police ended, but at least they went out with a bang and NOT a BOMB!

Yeah clash of egos but Copeland has nothing to do there. Hes a great drummer but without Stings compositions Copeland wouldnt have been what he is. He disappeared into oblivion when Sting went solo to make more hits. Sting proved he didnt need them. And that hurt Stewarts ego. Had Stewart been more humble like Dominic Miller, we would be having at least 3 more studio albums from the Police.

This was the peak of their career. That's why Sting went solo. There simply wasn't any higher they could go as a rock band.

If they could have held on for just four or five more years (it's easy to imagine the first two Sting solo albums as Police albums) they would would have gone down as the dominant band of the 80s- like what Zeppelin was to the 70s.

What? No.. Actually there were always ego clashes between Stu & Sting - Stu always thought it was his band and Sting wrote most of the material - Andy was like the bigger brother who stood between the 2 rude boys.
