Hey there thanks for the comment and welcome to the channel! I don’t want to rip on sellers as I understand both sides as a frequent buyer and someone who sells quite a lot. We speak about the community a lot in this hobby. Player or collector or investor. We all want to be treated with respect and go “wow everyone in this little hobby is really cool” but thank you I’m trying my best to be genuine. I know ! It’s really happening isn’t it! I really want to do stuff other than Pokémon but for now this is my base content and it’s doing numbers. Although I do want to be more of a lifestyle mentor and I love cars almost as much as cards so I feel down the road I may do more with cars. I really love the idea of buying a wrecked sports car and restoring it.

I just picked up a large vintage Pokémon Japanese card collection for $40 and my 3ds all in nm condition basically, I still can’t believe it and I’ll be holding on to them. Thanks for the video and your reassurance

I've been playing catchup on modern sealed product as I just got back into the hobby after starting my career, (here come us zoomers with disposable income). Now I can just pick up a few booster boxes/etbs/singles of the newest set and be fine. I think a lot of people are overlooking my generations sets. Most of people's hype for "vintage" falls off during neo or at skyridge, which is fair since that what the previous generation has nostalgia for. I'm working on going back and grabbing ex era, DPP, and HGSS stuff while I can. I know the TCG was in a decline around then, but hey maybe the scarcity offsets that. WoTC era stuff is great, but not as appealing for my generation, IMO. Gotta collect the cardboard you love, those ex era boxes in your backdrop are so sick.

Great comment and totally agree- this is more geared towards those that really value the original cards and eventually no matter what it will likely price out people from being able to collect it. I have a lot of love for modern Pokémon but nothing compared to vintage. That’s my safe space if you will. Great comment though and glad to have you in the channel! My camera is simply my iPhone 14 Pro and it’s really great for videos and then I just bought a iPhone tripod for like 50$ I’ve always done videos this way- I’ve tried high end cameras and it’s just too time consuming with a wife and kid I don’t have time to do all that so my iPhone needed to be upgraded from a 8 to a 14 for the best quality video. As far as microphones go I got two from Best Buy the brand is zoom co. Perfect for podcasting but not entirely ideal for videos. Also if you decide to enhance the audio you’ll need to have a laptop running the audio mp3 so you can merge the video and audio- also you’ll need editing software.. there’s free software out there but kinda not user friendly. I would just use the apple products I think that’s what most content makers use. Sometimes I don’t even plug my mic in it’s just sitting there for show. I really bought mics and headphones for doing a podcast series eventually.. you don’t really need them for making simple videos- I personally love using my iPhone 14 Pro. Gets the job done. I use the setting 24FPS in 4K

@@ChrisBCards hitmonlee is the “leg kicker.” Hitmonchan is the “puncher.” I would say somewhere between $30-35 for lightly played. It is listed at $48 on TCG player in Near mint. Pretty good for my dad picking it up and not knowing a thing about Pokemon. He just knows Im back in the hobby and have an Ebay store and decided to grab a couple cards for me. Pretty cool.

Definitely agree it will get harder to find the really rare old stuff in nice condition. I know for a fact there's people out there who will buy multiple copies of a card they like every time it pops up on Ebay... I'm pretty sure ive bid against them at some point. The modern stuff may go up in value but it will mostly be there down the road if you're looking for it. However the older rarer mint or better stuff smpratte discusses will only be around for so long.

Hey there and welcome to the channel! Haha I never said it would be easy LOL yeah it’s very hard. I do think about opening my vintage packs all the time. Eventually it gets easier to keep stuff sealed. The remorse of opening something and their being nothing is far worse IMO

Do you think trying to stack as much slabbed vintage holos for the long term is solid. 1sy edition obviously but even unlimited have been moving and will also dry up sooner than people think.

Absolutely the market is getting very competitive and no matter how much I try to invest in modern I always end up happiest buying vintage. Modern is really not much of a better price in terms of the quality modern cards should cost much less but then we have examples of the Umbreon from evolving skies being a 500$ card a few months ago now 1000$ I mean it’s insane. It’s a strong franchise overall!

@@orionsires totally! I was writing specifically about vintage. It hit its floor and now it’s climbing again. Also think people who were burnt by crypto or stocks are turning to the tcg as an alternative “investment” (debatable if that’s a good move lol).

My son is 5 now and hes always talking about pokemon. We bought him a switch for xmas and i got scarlet and arceus. His favorite game has been the old school mario 64. Have that game played all day long in our house has been so nostalgic. Having kids can bring back so much joy from when you were the same age. Except you get to be a part of it in a way my dad xouldnt when N64 was brand new

Right ! Never Gets OLD! No matter how outdated it gets. Those cards you can feel the quality in every one.

For someone who just started investing in pokemon a few weeks ago. I got 3 evolving skies etbs, 3 brilliant stars etbs and 1 vivid voltage etb I would like to get into vintage but I don't know where or how to start looking and knowing the right prices of sealed products to purchase at because it pretty pricey lol. Or should I look for certain vintage cards, grade them and sell them later

Hey there great comment and welcome tot he channel ! I think you’re off to a great start. I would stay tuned to the videos and honestly I think the best thing to do is to buy the holo rares and secret rares from the original sets and work your way up buying cards from each set. Or just buy the rarest cards from each set. It’s all your preference.

what is your opinion on the crown Zenith, looks interesting, but I worry about too much inventory. I would rate it lower than Celebrations, but higher than Pogo. Probably the 4-5th best investment in modern pokemon

Man I’m my book like you said, lower than celebrations and people would flame me for this overall. I just would rather have a celebrations zard than all that hype stuff coming out. Yeah art is neat but come on OG rebranding of zard can’t be beat! I did a video on it though if you wanna check it out. I’m sure it will be great but I’m not getting sucked into buying a ton of it. Maybe a few boxes and set and forget as a sealed investment. Nothing crazy.

Good info my dude, where you getting these vintage deals, on ebay? I been seeing some evolutions booster box going under $600 depending on seller and didn't pull the trigger im worried about getting fake or not good condition boxes

Lots of fake evolutions so yeah 600$ sounds a little too good to be true but it’s definitely possible. I paid 750$ ish for mine. You can find stuff just by looking daily. One day there’s nothing cool and the next day you find a collection people sleep on ! Gotta stay on top of it

I picked up 7 ex series booster packs and 1 blister and didnt pay more than 120 for a single one. A few are heavy and worth 400$ or more like the heavy umbreon pack from unseen forces. Theres only 4 of those packs graded they are so rare. Got all of it the week od the charizard UPC release when everyones money was spent and auctions were ending at 50% market value or less on tons of niche items. Make sure to remember to look on holidays or on big release days when attention and money has been temporarily diverted

Duuuuuude right it’s insane I initially thought you were referring to large storage bins- dude those cases are essential for shelving but for storage just buy 12$ target bins.. I’m stacking them in my garage it makes it a breeze to store modern junk lol

I just got a psa 9, 1st edition holo charizard. Hopefully that will hold up. It’s not an easy purchase.. but got a good bid. Just a crazy piece. In my 30s living like my childhood. The nostalgia is so strong!!

Lately I still think vintage is undervalued as stated before BUT it is certainly creeping up in price. Cards are slowly going to be harder to source when collectors like myself buy them and keep them. I sell cards to make the hobby sustainable but for the most part I keep everything in my collection long term. Base set cards I would buy are as follows : Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur ( of course) raichu, alakazam, mewtwo and gyarados those are my favorite personally

I wouldn’t focus much on the grades unless you want a psa 10 master set honestly most of the vintage cards are very easy to find for a low cost just don’t rush into anything! Now shadowless is a whole different ball game/ that’s something I would want graded but also it’s going to be way more affordable to binder a set raw. Those are my thoughts and I hope that helps. I love graded slabs but it’s super overrated. If you stay in the hobby long enough you’ll find everything you’ve ever wanted over time. 😎

@@orionsires It's more so buying the cards I love but with the hope of getting an investment return. I would only by able to buy a couple psa 10 unlimited, compared to a few more psa 9 shadowless. Which one do you think has the best return on investment?

Stuff was massively over inflated from 2020 with the big TCG rush in my opinion it's just going back to where it's supposed to be.

It was massively inflated and I believe it still is BUT equally I think it’s a different market now with all the new collectors and an ever growing community that seems very strong- that is to say that will the hobby and it’s enthusiasts have become hardcore. I really think it’s more than a phase or fluke for the card pricing. I feel vintage is really strong still and every day there’s another person on this channel who’s a new collector who wants vintage along with modern everything has truly IMO taken a leg up from a technical analysis standpoint prices seem to be leveling out pretty well. Maybe I’m wrong I mean I hope Charizard 1st Ed drops in price but I see it easily holding 1k per grade point based on PSA price charts and I feel that cards a pretty good way to watch the entire market kind of like an index. I just purchased a 1st ed shadowless yellow cheek Pikachu AGS 9 for $50. I’m going to have PSA do a crossover to bump the value to a PSA 9. After fees, I’ll still profit well.

I 100% agree with you on vintage being the prized gem. But I firmly believe sun and moon and early booster boxes will have some of the greatest returns. Sword and shield will do well but sun and moon and xy will do far better. Just look at the supply of the rare cards in those sets. Some xy Era full arts have single digit copies available, but vintage wotc/ex will always be king. Nothing will ever come close to those 2 Eras

Yes I still believe vintage WOTC cards 1999-2003 are absolutely undervalued still. There are some high value cards sure but the majority of holos are less then 10$ 😎

@@MetalBum get base set 2 versions (those holos are gonna be something people will wanna pick up) if anything you can probably pick up the dark versions too for cheap.

Stock were my worst decision in college. I should have just bought vintage when I could've. I got back in when I had the kid as well.

This video is a bit dated but my opinions are still the same as before. The oldest sets are still the backbone and foundation of the game. I find that cool beyond just nostalgia. I think the base set packs will surge. I know shadowless and 1st edition will hold fine due to scarcity plain and simple but unlimited packs are next on that list. I have quite a few so it’s a little bias of me to say so, but I would buy more even at 3-500$. The chance to pull a charizard base set even if it’s a 9 would be amazing. That’s my biggest reasoning these will never go down in price. Every day one is being opened I bet. Great comment and welcome to the channel 😎

Yes for the artwork display more so - look up the price of a skyridge booster box empty then check the sealed prices it’s insane - but one day I will buy the vintage boxes sealed I have over 80 booster boxes sealed from sets ranging 1-4 years old though I’m all about sealed but sometimes just can’t afford it 😂

Also bro seriously I feel like so many people have wanted to do that but never do because they never have the genius to cross incorporate video ideas one person I can say does “alright” at it other then the fact he’s pretty successful is that Pokémon shoe kid Connor who always trades up . Even that gets very repetitive though that’s why things gotta be fresh and new and I feel like his at home Pokémon grading videos were some of his best because I feel like his other videos are just to much of the same trading a penny to a ps5 bs . If you look really hard every day eventually you’ll see something but most of the time it’s local deals that workout the best! 😎

My guy if your portfolio is down 80% I'd revaluate to some s&p 500 good chance most of those stock don't recover to previous level of will take a very long time.

Yeah it was a huge risk but if QS pulls off the worlds best battery it will be a priceless stock to own. It’s been 3 years and I’ve held to the bottom and now is slowly steadily rising. High growth is always risky just like Pokémon. But I know there are safer plays to make. S&P set and forget but that’s what my 401k is for lol anyways thanks for the advice and watching my older videos! It’s amazing to see comments on older stuff !

I am not wrong, prices will go up but I’m also not wrong about now being a good time to look at things. You have many chances during these economic hardships to take advantage of low priced markets. I understand you though. When I was in school it was the last thing on my mind. Fans can complain but in the end if it’s just a phase for hype it will die over and fans will still complain about booster boxes being 5k+ you feel me :/ it’s kind of inevitable with the scarce supply.

Hi I'm 57 and last year my dad shot himself in advert hospital I've been living with my step mom and she decided to sell the house she told me I'm on my own I have no income no car and no were to go , so I'm selling everything , so I have these pokeymon card that I would like to sell
