    Great watch as always! I like it a lot more than I figured I would. But yeah you hit the nail on the head I think the huge disappointment from everyone is the missed opportunity for a standalone handheld. So it's a solid device, but leaves a lot of us wanting a standalone handheld.

    I have the portal and deal with very few issues at home, the office, and at any of my families houses. Now my internet situation is great so if your internet isn't good dont buy the portal. I had a 2-hour run on it at this coffee shop with no problems. The portal does remote play better than any other setup i have tried. idk why, but it does. As for the cloud streaming, Sony has said they plan on adding that feature but want to make sure its done right and will be enjoyable or ppl will try it 9nce and forget about it.

    It doesn't matter if you have good Internet or not. It's the quality of your home WIFi router that matters. You can buy a decent WiFi 6 router with good range for less than $200. I got a decent Huawei AX3 Pro in Europe for $60. There are people who pay $500+ per year for a smartphone. The least you can do is put some money down on a good router.

    @mmstick This is simply a lie... It absolutely DOES matter if your internet connection is decent on BOTH SIDES. It's been proven dozens of times. LAN connection at 500mbps UP on the PS5 side in the home, running like DOGWATER on mobile Hotspot in some areas... It literally only had WiFi 5 connectivity, so if you have a WiFi 6 connection at home, it literally doesn't matter, it's only going to connect via wifi 5. It doesn't have a WiFi 6 chip inside the device.. Stop spreading false information

  • @mmstick

    @mmstick

    6 ай бұрын

    @@ATLsF1N3ST91You would have to be devoid of critical thinking if you think a high bandwidth Internet connection is required even though your connection at home never passes through the Internet. I use my Portal every day without any involvement of an Internet connection for the remote play connection. WiFi 5 is absolutely fine for the Portal. This means that it has an 802.11ac WiFi chip, which is capable of 1200 Mbps on the 5 GHz frequency band with only 1-3 ms of latency. WiFi 6 is not necessary as its only benefit is a higher maximum throughput, but this device never needs more than 50 Mbps for its max bitrate. Regarding false information, you should practice what you preach.

  • @mmstick

    @mmstick

    6 ай бұрын

    There's only a few people "gasing" the product. There's more positive reviews than negative, and they ultimately come down to whether the reviewer has a good WiFi router or not, or whether they had HDMI out active while using remote play at the same time. The least you can do if you are going to buy a remote play device is to make sure you have upgraded and configured your WiFi network to prevent it from becoming a bottleneck for your remote play experience. I have had a PlayStation Portal since November 17th. I've been playing games on it every day for at least a couple hours each day. I've never had any disconnect, quality issues, or stuttering. Precisely because I have a Huawei AX3 Pro (quad core) WiFi 6 router with the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands split into separated SSIDs. With the PS5 connected to the router via Ethernet, the Portal connected to the 5 GHz SSID, the HDMI Device Link option disabled in PS5 settings, and the TV turned off. Also, there was a firmware update a few days ago which improved stuttering for most people that had less than ideal network conditions. Even those who were having stuttering issues before will likely notice much of that resolved if they review it a second time today. That said, most of the bad reviews really need to take a crash course on configuring and placing WiFi routers. I bet all they need to do is split the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands into separate SSIDs, or reduce channel width to eliminate congestion, or choose a channel which doesn't conflict with neighbors. If you buy a Tri-band WiFi router, you can even create a dedicated 5 GHz access point specifically for gaming devices like the Portal.

    Come on man at least do your homework bro like there's so many people who are just exactly like you stayed in the video it's so much immense information I feel like people are so darn lazy these days All they do is watch a video or hear when other people say and use it as The truth without doing their own research.. It sold out clearly it's not useless It's also being mean as a dad station you know instead of spending $349 on the steam deck which don't get me wrong it's a great device but if you're primarily a PlayStation player on console there's no reason for for you to get a steam deck if you're primarily going to use it as a remote play device.. You have to spend an additional $149 to get a device that has more capability but you're not going to take advantage of it. So for people who were saying that it's like they're not thinking. I get it as consumers we want what we want I'm one of them It would be great for this to be a PSP 4.0 but with inflation it's not going to be $249 the price the PSP was when it was released in 2005. You looking at double the screen size a way better resolution at 1080p and now you have the device that has the full functionality of a dual sense controller. Realistically you're looking at about a close to $400 or more price range and then Sony would be competing with the steam deck and the price of probably what the Nintendo switch 2 is going to be when it comes out next year.. The PSP lost against the Nintendo DS when almost 10 years ago and the Nintendo DS couldn't even do half the things at the PSP could.. You already think they're going to take another chance to lose out again when they can just make something simple with a decent price tag that more people are going to be able to afford.
