I have the ps5 and I honestly wouldn’t invest on this either. Instead of going forward they went back and made this device worst. Pretty much a prototype. The Wii U was definitely better.

But it's not a gaming handheld. The purpose of this device is to play when you are in vacations, or over at a friends house. Or even if your TV is used by your parents, you can still play games. It's not that jard to understand...

You can literally do the same with your phone and your PS4/PS5 controller right now (or any Bluetooth controller)... But I guess giving 200$ to SONY feels good right? It's an accessory made for ignorant people, that's it. I'd even say that your phone has even nicer screen and battery life than that 200$ 🗑️.

@@ektasix You represent one of the more annoying segments of the anti-portal crowd arguments when “it does the same thing as x” is so far off from reality. Im specifically interested in the Portal AS someone who already uses remote play on my iPad. I wouldn’t use it on my phone because the screen is too small. I’m limited using it on my iPad because the form factor doesn’t allow for me to comfortably play in bed with my dual sense controller. My phone is designed for other functions that I don’t want to cut myself off from when I’m playing. And that’s before you factor in the likely more efficient data transfer process of being the first product ever specifically designed to do remote play. If these features don’t matter to you, cool. But where do you get off calling other people ignorant who are actually being really analytical about doing something effectively vs just doing it with any device that will technically allow the feature?

When I heard about this I got a little excited...until I heard you needed to actually own a PS5. If they go along with this idea, their greed is going to cost them. They should just come out with another PSP, integrate an OPTIONAL feature where you can connect it to your PS5, and make it backwards capable.

I was so hoping it would be a new PSP. The fact that it needs to be connected to your PS5 over wifi sucks man. It’s nothing more than a LITERAL “handheld”. I wish it was its own console that could work on its own

It is actually just a phone attachment to where you can get PS five side controllers for your phone so when you connect your phone to your PlayStation, you can Mobley play from there.

I think this looks amazing especially for someone like me who has kids and can’t always have access to the TV.

What’s the point of a handheld if it’s cloud only, with a handheld you’re going to be traveling and playing and when you have no network you can’t play. Or you might be living at a hotel with slow wifi that can barely handle cloud gaming. If you download the ps4 app you can already play cloud gaming if you have a controller attatched.

I think the steak deck is a better choice still.

One key incorrect thing said here: The PS Portal is not a cloud streaming device. It is a remote play device and as of now it will not support cloud streaming. That may be a feature later. Also, it is a PS5 accessory. Not sure why anyone would complain if they can't get it to do something not for a PS5.

It could be useful for kids whose families watch the tv a lot, basically acting as a Wii U game pad. But we can already do that with our phones/ tablets/ etc. with remote play so I don’t see the “handheld” being useful especially if it’s probably going to be priced at $200-$300

I'm grabbing this when it comes out. When I can't be bothered to leave the bedroom I just grab the portable. It's an accessory for ps5 owners. What's not to like? It's under $200

Im having difficulty understanding why someone would want this, the whole point of a handheld is portability. You need to be on the same network as your PS5 to use it, but in that case you can just go use your PS5. Do they really expect people to spend all that money just to be able to take their game into another room of the same house?

The image you are displaying is not the actual device.

Why Wifi is a staple in our age today, even on a console its required to play online games. So if youre wifi sucks even on a console you'll lag and lose picture quality until it stables out. Its a mirror of your screen. Exactly the connection youd get playing on a console with a game that requires internet is the same youd get on the Portal.

Not true. Have you tried cloud streaming games on bad Wi-Fi, compared to playing them on Wi-Fi. Both pretty bad but cloud streaming is worse. Firstly u input something, and it’s sent to the ps5, then the ps5 sends the input to the game server. Compared to playing natively, and the ps5 just sends the input straight to the server
