The Play-Dough Man

The Japanese architect and designer Oki Sato, known as Nendo, was invited to write the second chapter of Mottainai, a project initiated by Paola Lenti in 2022 to recover and reuse textile surpluses. Nendo gave new beauty to the multicolored remnants of Maris fabric and designed the Hana-arashi collection, a range of furniture and accessories - including lamps, stools, baskets, and a swivel chair. In a spontaneous and friendly conversation, he explained, amidst playful jokes, thoughtful moments, and smiles, what the name Nendo means, how he shapes his relationship with Milan and nature, the role speed plays when he develops a new project, and what collaborating with Paola Lenti meant to him.
