Even though there are Platters groups still performing today, all the original members that recorded for Mercury are deceased. David Lynch (tenor) died in 1981, Paul Robi (baritone) died in 1989, Tony Williams (lead) died in 1992, Zola Taylor (contralto) died in 2007, and Herb Reed (bass) died in 2012. When Tony Williams left the group to go solo in 1961, he was replaced by Sonny Turner. Sonny Turner is still alive at 81 and appeared with a Platters group in 2019. Most of the other members who joined between 1962 and 1982 are also deceased.

For your information: this full video is part of a great italian movie (in fact, a sort of documentary) called “Europa di Notti” directed by Alessandro Blasetti, (1959). The Platters played two of their hits there: “You'll never know” and “My dream”. The movie is a sort of journey through music halls, circuses, cabarets and theatres all over Europe with artists such Domenico Modugno, Cocchinelle, Henry Salvador, Colin Hicks, Carmen Sevilla, etc, plus an assorted acts of magicians, comedians, streapteasers, voudeville artists, even street music. The original italian movie was great, with a narrator who connect the acts with a brilliant, ironic, funny script. There an appaling and shorter version on the italian original movie called “European Nights”, butchered as you can expect in the US. But if you want to have an idea on how was the real one, you can get it from Amazon.

Absolutely beautiful song by The great platters featuring fantastic vocals by the great Tony Williams love it.
I once read that they sold more singles in one year than anyone or other group did, including Elvis. It was in a year book of the Encyclopedia Americana. 1960? Can anyone verify that? Even if they didn't, they made millions of people happy and still do. Thank you for posting this!
One of the most important videos on youtube because it shows that great music will always be around .The sound of the Platters and Tony Williams voice is............... Simply The Best ...PERIOD !!! Thank You for posting.

I am so sad why Tony Williams has never got the recognition he deserved. His talent in singing with such a golden voice is uncomparable and can not be rematched.
The Pale Horse brought me here. The moment I heard it, I was like man where have you been all my life. My father never played this on our LP player back the days. Surely missed out on this one and has now become my favorite song of all time, ok this and Ebb Tide😁❤️🔥

Yes and My Prayer and The Great pretender!!!
Most of the other members who joined between 1962 and 1982 are also deceased.
listening to the Platters and the pianist is just so beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us this beautiful song!

Who the fuck would ya fuckin idiot.
Had never seen or heard this before, and I am a fifties era guy who was on the air for several years playing the Platters and all the other groups of the time on a regular basis. I was also an Army broadcaster overseas in the early 60's. How did this live cut slip by me? SO good, with Tony Williams at his absolute best.
one of the greatest groups in history sabree---from the bronx
What a wonderful voice
Fantastyczny Whe Platers-Ich nie można przestać słuchać. Każda skladanka-Sentimental,Stand by 2008,Swet,Swet Orchids i wiele innych jestsuper. Wasze propozycje są niebezpieczne- nie udaje się przestać . Obok również głos i najwspanialsza trabka -to tylko L.Armstrong. Kochamy Go zawsze. To było przeżycie-móc znowu Ich sluchac i oglądać .E-W.
BEAUTIFUL SLOW BEAT SONG TO DANCE AWAY,, MY PARENTS FAVORITE GROUP MANY MOONS AGO, I WAS JUST A LITTLE GIRL, GREW UP LISTENING TO THEIR MUSIC, LOVE LOVE IT
For your information: this full video is part of a great italian movie (in fact, a sort of documentary) called “Europa di Notti” directed by Alessandro Blasetti, (1959). But if you want to have an idea on how was the real one, you can get it from Amazon.
a great video.thanx.
Like this song, haven't heard it in years...

Great clip. Though it's obvious the vocal track was dubbed over the film, I'd like to see the movie this clip was taken from. First time I've ever seen the Platters in color. Tony Williams was awesome and the inspiration for a host of R&B singers who followed him.
Que maravilloso escuchar sus voces nos da esa paz al escuchalas inigualables los platers❤❤❤🙏🙏
I hear this very personal song as a prayer, a conversation really, to my God, in whom is all my hope. With tears streaming, I am so thankful that God made music possible in our difficult lives. The Platters were a full cut above.
