The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

This is the episode which I thought had the lost performance of the Platters singing "My Prayer", but now I'm starting to wonder if it happened at all. Although the song is listed as "My Prayer" at Historic Films database, the image grid for the song shows this performance of "Dance With Me Henry" instead (which I didn't know until I saw this video just now). Odd that the Platters would appear and not do one of their hits with Tony Williams singing lead at all during the show. I've been dreaming of seeing it for all these years, and now I find out it might not have even occurred. Ah well, if it was sung doing this show, I hope you will post it, and thank you for all the wonderful Platters videos you are giving us! I hope we will also get to see "Remember When" which is such a beautiful song.

After doing some more extensive research (going through old newspapers online, etc.), it looks likely that "Dance with Me Henry" was the only song sung by the Platters on this episode.

Excuse me but This IS A COVER VERSION OF ROLL WITH ME HENRY BY ETTA JAMES AND THE PEACHES RELEASED BY MODERN RECORDS TITLE "THE WALLFLOWER " because of the lyrics being too subjective. The term Roll with me means to have sex. White teenager liked the record and this cause quite a stir so much that Georgia Gibbs re recorded the song called "Dance with me Henry" which became a number 1 hit for Georgia Gibbs hence the Platters doing it on Ed Sullivan show.
