The Pirates and Artists of Penzance! (Cultural Travel Guide to the Town at the "End of the Line")

In the far west of Cornwall you'll find the historic port of Penzance - the legendary terminus of the Great Western Railway from Paddington Station, London, as well as the embarkation point for the Scilly Isles.
Gilbert and Sullivan portrayed a version of the town in the famous opera The Pirates of Penzance which has remained part of the port's folklore ever since, extending even to the name of the rugby team. In the late 19th century the Newlyn School enticed artists to this corner of Cornwall and a streak of Cornish creativity continues into the 21st century amidst the Georgian architecture, the gorgeous sub-tropical gardens and the quirky independent stores.
This short film features interviews with local artist Sarah Bell and her husband and gallery owner Nigel Bell. I wish to extend a huge thank you to them both for lending their time to this project.

Thank you. I always seek the positives no matter where I am. Sure, Penzance does not escape some of the issues that affect towns up and down the UK but I think it has plenty to shout about.
