Interviewer is speaking English . All the replies are in malayalam. He makes content in malayalam and caters malayali audiences. Questions should have been asked in malayalam since the interviewer can speak flawless malayalam

Correct. Malayalam should not be set aside in favor of English. Linguistically speaking, Malayalam is also a far superior language to English.

@@PinkLungi I write in English, because it is hard for me to write Malayalam in Roman alphabets since I am used to writing Malayalam in Malayalam alphabets. Second, I also use English so that non Malayali viewers can understand what I am saying. That doesn't mean that I like English better than Malayalam. Appuppan and the boys channel generally focuses on Malayalam movies. So the target audience is Malayali audience in general. So the host should have presented the questions in Malayalam and use English subtitles for non Malayali viewers.

i feel its fine to speak in whatever language a person is comfortable speaking as long as the one listening can understand.

Same here . Taken Mechanical engineering. Not interested in that . Worked for last 12 years , going to quit job soon . Interests are Economics , History and Science defenitely not Engineering.

I really appreciate Anatharaman for responding in Malayalam and trying to make sure he adheres to Malayalam for the larger part of the interview. I feel the anchor on the other hand is choosing not to speak purposefully.

Tbh, it is two people having a conversation in the language they are comfortable with. I switch to English unknowingly because I am more comfortable with expressing my thoughts in English. Like Anant says in the interview, learn to ask “why” for everything. Before you arrive at “choosing not to speak purposefully”, ask yourself why and what the person would gain by doing so. Look for evidences to confirm your hypothesis.

And it’s basic inquisitiveness that in an interview where the interviewer completely speaks in English and Ajay responding in Malayalam garners attention as to why there’s a language nonconformity. Hence the question and he’s given his answer.
