Bruce Soord: “The idea for this song came out of writing sessions I had with Gavin at his studio. Gavin played me this idea he had come up with and I immediately connected with it, straight away humming what would become the verse. I went into another room with my guitar to try out some chorus ideas while Gavin was in his studio playing out the middle section. It was one of those moments where everything came together so quickly. A lot of the guitar remains from that session, including all the lead riffs. Jon (bass) came up with the hooky chorus bass melody, Beren Matthews, our touring guitarist, added some brilliant guitar work, before Steve (keyboards) added his sonic icing on the cake. The words came later.”

This is really good, and not just because Gavin is behind the kit. The song is sharp, tight riffs, good vocal delivery, excellent production. Will be adding to library for sure.

Totally. These guys have been incredible since their inception but I couldn’t think of a better match for Gavin Harrison’s talents. As with porcupine tree there’s a lot of open space for him to shine without ever seeming ‘showy’

@@tabithadickerson2525 I don't agree, but obviously Gavin Harrison is a distinctive drummer and he seems to have even more prominence in The Pineapple Thief than he does in Porcupine Tree, so I can understand why you would hear it that way. Soord to me has a very different energy from SW and, while he doesn't have the same stylistic breadth, he never delivers anything less than good.

The album reminds me of a mix of Steven Wilson and Leprous. But distinctively Pineapple Thief too. I'ts a great album.

If that’s a signature sound then it’s a PT forgery. 😂 Love these guys but not what I’d call a signature sound.
im so exited for the next tour where i get to watch my first show i cant wait to see the band playing in person. this song is amazing i love the effort they put in.

These guys have had so many albums but I think with this one they really have come to a new place. Great writing, great playing. I know having Gavin in the band has changed their world a bit and it is understandable. He brings his drumming intellect with him. There truly are few drummers that can write drum parts as if they are completely musical and expressive as opposed to holding down the beat. One other drummer that he reminds me of is Bill Brufford. Or Carl Palmer. Both of which used drums as a melodic instrument.

It is symbolic, in my opinion - it shows a future where no old world values and labour are present - it aims to show the world's emptiness. AI is taking over, tearing every trace of us apart.
