The Piegan Medicine Lodge
A medicine woman holds a ceremony to thank the Sun God for the recovery of her grandson from polio. Scenes from the ritual include: tree cutting prayers and ceremony; selection and cutting of tree for center pole of medicine lodge; purification ceremony in sweat lodge; raising center pole and erection of lodge; ceremony inside lodge; dancing outside and stick games. The ritual takes place at Heart Butte, Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana. Produced in 1956 by the Montana Office of Public Instruction and the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The Montana Historical Society digitized Knute Bergan’s 16mm print of The Piegan Medicine Lodge in 2017, in cooperation with and at the request of the Blackfoot tribe and the Siksika Board of Education. I'm on a healing journey and appreciate the sharing of ancestral wisdom. My Great Grandmother is my ancestor descended from the Blackfoot. I have sent prayers to the sun on eagles wings and feel the need to journey further down a path with my ancestors as guides. I wish to heal myself and my family and live more harmoniously with nature.

I am so amazed at this video. I remember as a little girl to be at a okan on the blood reserve. With that.old lady " rides at the door" it just brought happy memory, for me. 😊❤
god its just so cool to see that alot of this stuff hasnt changed, except maybe the clothing. I remember alot of this from my childhood in the 2000's to 2010s

Do you have any real info or backing to what you're saying? The Blackfeet conception of power was called "natoji" (sun power).... so why couldn't the sun be equated to the creator for them?
