The picturesq Dutch town of Zaltbommel in 1921 in color! [A.I. enhanced & colorized]

Zaltbommel is a town in te province of Gelderland in The Netherlands. It lies in the 'Bommelerwaard', a fertile (river clay) agricultural area between the rivers Maas and Waal. The town is over 1000 years old. The first mentioning in scriptures of a town called Bomala was around the year 850. In 1350 it obtained city rights.
This film shows the Sint Maartenskerk church, the local market, many great buildings, a nice panoramic view over the town with the nearby rivers, the bridge over the river Waal, busy shipping traffic on the river, the dykes along the river, the beautiful old water tower (still in existence!), and many picturesq spots in the old town, now exactly a century ago! Please help to complete the timeline below!
The original B&W film has been motion-stabilized, speed-corrected, enhanced, restored and colorized by means of modern Artificial Intelligence video software. If you want to know how in more detail then watch the welcome video on my KZread channel.

@@Blakeoffire yes it still looks quite a lot like it today. A lot of buildings still exist. What is very different to me is the area near water. It is now quite modern. And of course a lot more people and a lot of cars.

I grew up in Zaltbommel in the 1990s. You'd be surprised how little this town has changed in the past 100 years. Even in 2021 you can find almost all buildings and streets you see in this film, unchanged. It's truly remarkable how well-preserved Zaltbommel is. Truly a time capsule.

I first visited Zaltbommel in 1987 on my way driving to Amsterdam! I seen the old Wassertor from the highway and said I gotta check this town out I drove around a bit and stopped in a Bar let me explain to you how I looked first of all I’m second generation Italian-American from New Jersey I was 25 years old I had slicked back short hair a Guinea T aka Wife Beater shirt BLUES BROTHERS Sunglasses on a dark tan It was July and I’m already dark completed from working construction and my background I had white BOXER Workout trunks on that resemble knickers from the 1920’s and a thick hard accent even British people have a hard time understanding! I walked into this bar I’m very open and make people laugh with my antics the bar had about 15 people in there they looked at me like WTF is this I got a beer 🍺 sat down and started talking in English to the dude next to me telling him where I was from and what and where I was going and doing he laughed in 3 minutes I had The whole bar standing behind me asking me questions and they began buying me drinks this was at 2:00 in the afternoon I start buying also by 6: 00 o’clock I was off my rocker but still going strong I end up drinking till about 10:00 that night found a room from a person who hooked me up!! Every time I visited The Netherlands 🇳🇱 after I would always stop in what I now called the Bommel!! And hung around a few days it’s always great fun in total I been there about 6 or 7 times in my life now 60 and seeing this video if any of the residents who remember drinking with VINNY DIAMOND THE GANGSTER FROM NJ SOME OF YOU IN YOUR 60’s and 70’s also I THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH FOR THE GREATEST OF TIMES AND WONDERFUL MEMORIES!! I HOPE WE ALL MEET AGAIN ONE DAY IF NOT IN THE BOMMEL THEN ON THE OTHER SIDE OF LIFE!! Again THANK YOU ALL!!

@david woods Memories like that you realize the moments you leave that as you shake your head and give that little laugh and look back a few times in the mirror and a sudden tear falls!! That moment you had is embedded in your brain forever!! Not just a moment or even a brief encounter but something that was all setup for YOU an Experience people dream of or see in a movie something almost someone created for You and wanted to you too Experience or perhaps someone else there who knows or if even for someone else to witness!! It’s odd thinking this 35 years later now entering the Autumn of Life and now coming across this video that was 60 years before my experience!!! Odd the connection is but also part of the story! I only told you a synopsis of the story for my to tell you in person would take hours and too write down the names of people the streets and other things that occurred in that time would be a chapter in a book! I just thought I’d add this note to your comment! Thanks!

This is a good tutorial: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iJV5zpKfkafdY5s.html An important tip: first restore and enhance the B&W footage and then use DeOldify as last step.

Kleinzielig gedoe. Kleinkariert zoals de Duitsers zeggen.
